The TV aspect is totally irrelevant to me. German television is complete and utter bullshit anyway these days outside of some sports events . Is HarzIV TV now going to be shown through XBOX ? Oh great... Not to mention us german have to suffer through dreadful dubbing anyway with international movies and series.

We were almost beyond it last generation and with this generation I think games are going to look about as good as we need them to look so hopefully they can get back to focusing on the good game part. Current gen games look fucking awful. The textures in particular are truly horrendous. You can 'fix' them somewhat by running at a higher resolution, but that doesn't fix the textures. However the biggest thing for the new consoles is that they actually have some RAM, so this should change. As for "looking as good as they need"...I dunno, people seem to say that every gen. Guess it could happen, I certainly wouldn't mind.

They didnt show ANY game footage at all, just some prerendered fugly shit. And I think this encapsulates the entire argument about the Xbox One here. If a large number of people in this thread are going to stick to this notion that it is solely a gaming console, then you are misguided. Microsoft is targeting a broader market and I knew going into this that whatever the new console was going to be was going to be an entertainment system that happens to play games. As for the lack of gaming footage, are people that impatient that they can't wait for E3? It isn't too far off. They just want MS to blow their entire wad right now? I would've liked more than they offered for sure, but get a grip people.

Not EU but personally I find the only reason to watch TV anymore is sport. I download everything else. I can't see them adapting all those features to every individual country anyway, though. I expect most to be only available in USA/Canada/UK.

Guess it could happen, I certainly wouldn't mind. This meant the one upcoming. I realize I was a little vague in that but for me I have to see a single game where the graphics were so bad from one to other that I didn't go with what I considered to have the stronger gaming experience. The vast difference in power between these and the consoles 7 years ago means that I cant realistically see them needing to make the games look any better than the new consoles allow them to so my point was they can maybe focus on the gameplay part of the game instead of the graphic wars that defined this century.

It makes sense for the two to show off the console's capabilities and features first, and then bust out the games later. Now that they got some of the features out of the way, they can focus more on the games at this upcoming E3. I'm sure they have some more features they are going to announce at E3 and upcoming events such as Gamescom, PAX Prime, and the Tokyo game Show. Sony did the same, but Sony is also looking to be WAAAAY cheaper in the long run. If you dont mind just using a TV remote instead of your console the PS4 seems to have the same functionality as the Xbox1, and easily comparable graphics. Really, the PS4 has some of the more interesting features to me, especially on the controller. Xbox1 has mandatory DLC fees (which is why some DLC isnt even available on the xbox360), monthly subscription to xbox live to use any services at all, and in order to use most of the features it looks like you need a cable TV subscription to get use out of it. Then there is the worry about mandatory online in some games (ala Sim City... SERVERS ARE DOING THE WORK WE SWEAR), and the curious issue of used games.

Skype, a tv guide (REALLY?!), and voice/gesture commands aren't at all new things. I just watched an hour long reveal of a gaming console and I can count on one hand the number of times they mentioned video games. I just don't think I'm their demographic anymore. DUDE, did you even see the Call of Duty video? I mean, that was some seriously cool stuff. /sarcasm

They go onto say that you can install it again for a 'fee'. That means it can only be used twice or the fee is the same or close to a new game. If unlimited installs for a 20$ fee.. 5 friends split cost of 60$ to 12$ then 20$ fee and its far cheaper than buying a new game.

With this I can say that I am 100% certain my sister is not even going to think of even considering an interest in the console.

I watch TV for maybe an hour a day. 30 minutes of 24-h news channel before setting off to work to see if the world hasn't ended since when I went to sleep last night, and another 30 minutes of Comedy Central to keep me company when I eat dinner at home.

You don't need stellar graphics to make a good game, you don't need a powerful processor, you don't need to be able to multitask, you don't need any of this other stuff. That other stuff is cool, sure, but you don't need it to make a good game, and I am only interested in the games. People who are more interested in how the console works are kinda missing the point. It's like a kid who can't enjoy a game of football because they're not wearing the most expensive boots or don't have the latest ball or team strip or whatever... The games are mostly on both systems though, so of course people are interested in which one is going to run them better. It's not "will TES6 look good or have good gameplay?", it's "which console is going to make my TES6 look and run better?"

I'm still not sure what this all-in-one thing is all about. I don't understand the selling point of "watch your cable subscription...through our $300 box!" Because that's what they showed...that you can use the Xbox as a voice activated remote control, and that you can use Internet Explorer on it. What exactly does this expensive new thing do that makes it worth dropping a large amount of money and a subscription fee on? Particularly something unique, or something that isn't achievable on current platforms including smart phones and laptops.

PS3 controller is too light for my taste and their keypad goes on top which pulls the controller out of my hands rather than in to them. I think it's mostly personal preference in any case. Haha no don't get me wrong I hook it up to my PC. I think it's one of the best controllers ever done.
