Microsoft will also be retiring its MS Points system. It will convert any outstanding points balance into real dollars. However this amount will expire after one year if you do not use it. So if you do have a 360 with points on your live account, you should thinking about spending it....
I personally wrote to my consumer rights agency (canada) and complained because I'm pretty sure MS points is an extension of a gift card/store credit system and by law cannot expire anymore.
Personally, this is the only thing that I am legitimately pissed off about. Xbox is mostly for my kids so its always on internet and I typically don't buy many games a year for it so I don't care much about the DRM. But this...I've essentially burned money here that I may not be able to be used in the future. Not effin happy.

Are their legitimate and damning issues for the Xbox One? Sure: Price DRM Weaker Hardware Worse exclusives (opinion but legitimate all the same)
But always online? Its not like they are withholding water or food, its an ENTERTAINMENT product. If you can't use it then its your problem. Just don't buy it. Nothing I or anyone on this forum or Xbox employees can do for you. I live in the southeastern US myself and go through plenty of T storms without losing power and internet for 3 days. Im not sure what you have going on but if thats the case, don't buy it. Buy a PS4 or use an Xbox 360.

The online connectivity is a damning issue for the Xbone though. The price and DRM might be arguably larger issues but that is a major strike against it. Microsoft decided to shit the bed so hard here it's mind blowing. The internet infrastructure is pretty awful in the US, let alone places where soldiers might be deployed, which is an actual problem.
If the Xbone and PS4 were exactly the same besides the connectivity why would anyone in their right mind buy the Xbone? The 360 was great, much better than the PS3 IMO, my PS3 has been collecting dust forever. But they fucking ruined themselves this time around. Once you add all the other shitty "features" no one asked for there is no logical reason to buy one. I'll buy Titanfall on PC thx, now you have nothing I'm remotely interested in.
It's not that the PS4 is some amazing, life saving, god touched contraption, it's that the Xbone is such a piece of shit as to be laughable.

You simply aren't getting it. "It's not necessary" isn't an excuse. It requires internet access, but there is absolutely no reason for it to require internet access besides MS being greedy pricks. Well that is never good. Also explains the backspace button in the BF4 demo, unless it was also there on the PS4 version then it may have just been a missed icon or something (or they were run on laptops for the BF4 demo on PS4 too).

The acceptable answer would probably be something along the lines of "while we have no plans at the time please stay tuned for any future developments." Not being a dildo, anyone whos wanted an xbox360 probably already has one especially since its been out for 7 years and goes on sale every christmas.
OR heres another acceptable answer: "we're so full of shit that we lie and are more worried about protecting our publisher's and our own bank accounts more then we care about providing a quality product."
People come at me with this "business are suppose to make money" crap, well sometimes its a way better business strategy to iunno, not piss off a good portion of your user base.

Yes actually, it is okay. Its their company and they can produce whatever they want to. If you don't want it then don't get it. Some may not think it is "purposely inferior". I would bet MS doesn't think so either. Its like living in a desert and complaining about fishing pole companies leaving you out. Its an entertainment product that requires internet to work, if you don't have reliable internet, then its not for you. No real discussion there, its cut and dry.

You simply aren't getting it. "It's not necessary" isn't an excuse. It requires internet access, but there is absolutely no reason for it to require internet access besides MS being greedy pricks. That is why it's a problem.

They can't watch you with the kinect if you're gaming offline. They must learn what part of a game is frustrating you or making you enjoy it so they can sell this information to publishers. And hey maybe they just want to watch you get busy on the couch with your girl, or masterbate. It's all good microsoft is a trust worthy company, no need to be worried about anything like that.
Microsoft will also be retiring its MS Points system. It will convert any outstanding points balance into real dollars. However this amount will expire after one year if you do not use it. So if you do have a 360 with points on your live account, you should thinking about spending it....
I personally wrote to my consumer rights agency (canada) and complained because I'm pretty sure MS points is an extension of a gift card/store credit system and by law cannot expire anymore.
Gift cards can't expire in Canada? I've never had any sort of gift card over here that doesn't expire in 1 or 2 years.

It's not that the PS4 is some amazing, life saving, god touched contraption, it's that the Xbone is such a piece of shit as to be laughable.
And technically an Xbox employee could fix it. An executive could say "ok, this is retarded guys, we need to backtrack here." But you're never going to fully undo the image you've made of yourselves and odds are that's not going to happen. But they've made their bed, now they'll have to lie in it for ~7 years and try again.
But they couldn't fix it without changing everything else about it. Online check-in is essential for most of it's other feature to work properly. And they arent going to shelve the Xbox One and rework it completely because of the people without internet. They have a specific direction they want to go and the online check in is necessary for that direction.
And yes it is damning to those that don't have internet, I agree with you, but what is the point in discussing it? If you don't have internet then you shouldn't buy it, discussing it on a forum isn't going to fix your issue, you arent going to "see the light" and buy it because it wouldn't work for you. Again, thats cut and dry.
If it were price, maybe you could be swayed, or drm or exclusives but online check in isn't going to change so if you don't have internet, it would be dumb to buy an Xbox One plain and simple. But obviously this isn't about actual issues for most. As I have said before, PS4 is the better option in my opinion but all of these people coming out of the woodwork without internet are ridiculous and the majority are just looking to jump on the rage train going on. Either that are a large portion of internet users somehow don't have internet.
