Such hype a while back for these servers, then everyone gets on them and realises "Oh wait...nope, nostalgic rose tinted glasses moment, im out bb" And it dies as quickly as it rose. Im glad everyone realised what a steaming pile of shit this is nowadays, its bad even for browser games. I loved the touch of the OP quitting too

Feels like this thread could have a resurgence because of it. RSClassic seems too far back to have enough players for them to have the f2p/bond system, but 2007scape has enough nostalgia from the masses to keep going under its own thing. Evolution of Combat and all the other freemium shit like Squeal of Fortune and whatnot pretty much killed RS3 for me. I just realized it's basically the RS equivalent of Starbow

Was really hoping the game wouldn't go down the same path of OP gear and not having to interact with players at all as RS2 did.

I feel like the price inflation has always been a welcome thing for me.

I don't really get what you mean, imo GE was an easy way to make money as a low leveler, get uncommon items, etc. Also your complaint of having to interact with other players is what the GE does best, you don't have to sit in varrock or seer's village spamming selling/buying items and negotiating with dozens of others spamming other trades.

The other part of it I actually enjoyed haggling players for better deals. Its just not fun in my opinion and it just makes it more obvious that the game is going to go down hill from here. Pretty soon Dclaws, Curses, Dungeoneering and what ever the hell else they feel. Just not my kinda of game. Also your post confused me a bit as I WANT player interaction and the GE doesn't do that on ANY level.

You could argue that it can happen with the old trade system but the chances of that happening are slim to none. Now they can just put up an offer and buy the entire item stock out. If they can amass 75% of the player vote for a given feature, it can't make the game go downhill in the eyes of the majority of the playerbase. As far as merch clans go, they can't permanently raise the price themselves - as soon as they cash in, they release all the quantity of item that they bought and the price goes down again by the law of supply.

I never said they could? Just because 75% of the player base wants curses and dclaws doesn't mean I do. I stated I didn't like it I'm not speaking for the entire player base obviously. The merch clans can raise whatever items price they want as long as they want especially items that don' have that much quantity to begin with. If an entire clan spent a whole week just buying all the gold ores for example the price would raise to an extreme high and normal players would be screwed. Sure you can argue that a few weeks later things may normalize but that doesn't help the player right now does it?

I just feel like there's more to be gained, since bargaining, specificially someone who's open to haggle, has been typically hard for me to find before GE.

I was a huge RSC player back in the day and stopped playing a little after the release of RS2. The current RS3 is beyond confusing to me with all of the updates and new combat system. I wouldn't mind getting back to basics and playing a bit of a grinder. I never got close to end game content anyway.

A lot of the members' quests (and the free ones too, but those are pretty easy) are really well thought out and engaging, that's something I've found lacking in SWTOR when you move aside from the main quest storyline.

I think the exchange rate is still running at 1:8. If you get ~850k in OSRS you can port it over and get your bonds for a lower price. With GE that might have been shot and it could've stabilized more. I haven't been able to play since a few hours before they released the GE. I even saw the post at 5 am.
