Rather convenient that when asked about regrets, Neal says that he wishes Jeff's sword was just a regular bloodsucker sword and not a +1 bloodsucker sword and now it's just a regular bloodsucker sword.

It was fun watching Vincent wreck everything

Yeah... the +1 really doesn't make that much difference, and Neal stated that after about week 13 or so things would be getting harder as they were all used to the game (Read: Battles were going to be tougher than a horde of weak goblins suiciding into them). In 1 target battles (which most of the tough battles have been recently) the bloodsuckign really doesn't matter.

That was infravision, not blind fighting. Bregor just got blind fighting on the last level, I believe.

Thanks for including my fanfic in there also, im super surprised at how tonight turned out my heart was beating so hard when they first went in.

So after tonight I think we now have a good idea of each character's most hated enemies...

Bregor's Bane: Hill Giants
Vincent's Bane: Black Dragons
Tudagub's Bane: Gnomes
Abigael's Bane: Tudagub?
... In life very little goes right. "Right" meaning the way one expected and the way one wanted it. One has no right to want or expect anything.

He can fight in darkness. Dont know if that applies to invisible enemies. With these modified rules it could be whatever Neal wants it to be anyways. Blind fight in the current D&D rules works completely differently from what we have seen in the show.

I dont mind the modified rules but one thing i would criticize about Neal is that he could be a little more consistent with his rules. Was also kind of random that Abigail had to roll for all her items and Vincent just dropped his items when their backpacks got destroyed. Not the biggest deal. Still a great show of course. Very entertaining week.

edit: Neal said he always had it. With the elves having infravision it would make sense that they have blind-fight as well. It's Vincent who gets it next level up.

Geoff doesn't have much. I didn't make him roll for boring stuff like cooking supplies and bedroll on stream, just the critical stuff. I roll saves for all the boring things (bedrolls, cooking pots, lord Feng's belt, etc.) when I was doing exp.

They used it on longborn just before he went down, as it may well of been his final attack.

Vincent might be better of using brightblades sword on Bregor if they can't repair the damage done by the acid.

I imagine the base +2 to hit will probably be more useful on average.

I can't wait to hear what kind of treasures they got from the dragon. And Abigael lost both of the rings.. Nooo! -_-

I think he means the buff spell "Bless" or w/e that Tudagub cast early in the fight. IIRC it gave +1 to attack rolls and +1 to saving throws vs fear or something like that. It might've helped some attack rolls on the cusp of the 17, 18, 19 zone, but I'm not entirely sure about that. The players might've included in their modifiers already.

Bless lasts only 6 rounds. We were taking it into account, and even talked about it only lasting X rounds, and "this is the last round for bless".

Vincent leveled up, he's now 6th level.

Here's a countdown clock till the next episode of RollPlay. Count Down

Bregor rolled 17. JP then remember the buff effect and asked you if it would have changed anything. You checked the other player who rolled, where it didn't make a difference. As far as I know, you needed 18 to hit the dragon.

Anyway, was a good episode. Got really close near the end. Poor Geoff. His gear was badly damaged.

Edit: By the way, I'm not trying to whine or anything. I love the show and I'm very passionate about it. So when I saw people forgetting the buff and getting manhandled by a freaking dragon, I had to say something to someone right then and there. So for me it was like a live report post.

Pretty sure they needed 19 for a hit.

Bregor went insane against that dragon. He did nearly all the damage. Should change his favoured enemy to dragon

Just started watching these. Thanks for the entertainment! Have you considered releasing these as downloadable content, similar to the Drunks and Dragons podcasts? I would love to listen to these in the car/on the train/at work/on the can etc. etc.

So I just rewatched the dragon battle and something occurred to me... Bregor was blindfighting by sound right? But there was zone of silence on the dragon! So he shouldn't have been able to hear the dragon roaring, flying, or even splashing in the water when it was grounded right? Was it just an oversight or did the duration of silence expire? If the silence did expire right at that turn that's like the perfect cinematic epic movie style serendipity... Jexal's intervention if we need an excuse :D

Now that's what I'm talking about. That dragon fight was epic. Neal roleplayed the dragon perfectly. This is the kind of stuff that keeps people glued to their screens. At least it did for me. No sugar coating, no freebies, but instead a live or die situation where anything could happen. That uncertainty is what made is so compelling. Compared to the Istavon fight, which would you prefer?

Although I do think the party could have done better in the fight. Their weakness is that they are prone to charge into battles recklessly. They put themselves in that situation and are fortunate to have survived. Fortunate that Bregor had his gameface on. My theory is that the destruction of his precious hat caused him to go into berserker mode. Or maybe it was cuz the acid messed up the Beagor paint job.

In both the Riker and dragon fight, I am kind of surprised they did not try to talk their way out of the situation when it looked like they were going to die. For instance, against Riker, "We surrender, take the sword!" Then when Riker lowers his guard or comes to grab the sword, jump his ass. At the minimum, it might buy time for them to regroup.

Similar tactic could have been employed vs the dragon. Command spell worked against him, so presumably he understood Common. Use its greediness against it. "Wait! We can lead you to a hoard of treasure. Not far from here there is a noble who has a large stash of gold and magical items!" It would be cool if they try to roleplay themselves out of these desperate situations, instead of going for Hail Mary plays each time.

I also like the fact that Neal introduces fights that may or may not be winnable. There should be encounters where the only option is to flee. It is up to the party to recognize this and act accordingly. It's also funny how they keep saying they need to get away from Dalamar, but always seem to play right into his hands...it's like that Ex that you can't escape no matter how hard you try.

As a sidenote, would have been cool if Riker KO'ed the party and they awoke in the same place where the elves and humans were being imprisoned. Segway into the Abigael ring quest. It would be like a fantasy world Jailbreak episode where they have to find a way to escape. Idea popped in my head during a commercial break heh.

Highlight of this episode for me was when the party was making a human wall to shield away any prying eyes from Abigael lockpicking. Neal made a comment along the lines of, "You mean demihuman wall". That joke went whoooosh right over all their heads. LOL

Yea duration could be a factor. Also I guess radius could be a factor. IDR the numbers exactly but the silence area was like a 15 or 30 feet radius centered around the dragon's head? And the dragon itself was like at least 50 or 60 feet long in body + tail? So at the very least parts of it would be splashing in the swamp from outside the silence radius. Plus splashes that originate within the silence area can still ripple or spray water/debris outside.

Last episode was super exciting. Thanks everyone doing the show! I can't wait for more :D

Dragon had 19 AC. Needed a 19 to hit it.
