Ah really? I'm too young to remember 2nd edition too much only 21 T_T. just the stuff i had read. I guess a hand to hand fighter would get pretty decent grappling bonuses. it'd be pretty interesting to see a man walk up in full plate and punch someone.

Love this show!
Would love a charity marathon, too. But i dislike the interact-with-players-threw-donations idea. I think it would take away abit of the mystic world Neal created :D .
keep up the good work

I meant it more as a: If you donate X, you get to play a full character for an hour or two. They'd be like any other guest character. I don't know if it's something that would actually work though. What if we set the bar too low and we have 10 people that get to play characters? What if they're really annoying? This is something I'm pretty unsure about, and I don't think is likely to happen, but I thought I'd put out there anyway.

Yeah in 2nd ed, the classes were really basics, forming a simple, nice core. However, there were oddity / rarity like the psionics sometimes.

Yeah it's probably not a good idea for a non pre-recorded thing.

Anything in 2nd ed has to be simpler than the rules for the bard in 1st ed.

Never played first ed actually. All I remember about bards, is that they were wayyyy underpowered and, depending on the player, either amazing (from a roleplay point of view) or annoying as hell. ^^

Yes, every day, even Saturdays/Sundays. You can watch the stream live (whole ~4h for that week) on Sunday if you don't want to wait.

Thanks.

Look forward to todays before I go to bed.

Enjoying this this quite a bit.

Bards in 1st ed were the strongest level 1 class. mostly because you had to be lvl 5 fighter lvl 5 rogue lvl 1 druid with 15's in stats almost across the board before you turned into a bard. they counted as full druids and could do everything rogues and fighters could do. i never played 1st ed either, but i had the books from my dad.

I really hope you keep making these for a while. I look forward to watching them every day, especially on the days I have a long shift at work. It's nice to be able to just sit and laugh at them while I unwind.

No, JP said this week it's going to be on Monday. So no episode today.

Here's "Rocky Marciano: Undefeated" though:

Thanks. Dang, I was all set on listening to it tonight. I guess I will mow through a few more critical hit sessions.

Just finished watching the first week. I'm not really experienced with P&P games but I liked Geoff and JP very much, the DM seems decent, Ryan ok and Genevieve not-so-good. Both elves need to bring their character more into the game. But towards the end, it was the opposite that happened. They don't necessarily have to be so active in the group, but at least then they should talk to/interact with each other more often.

Abigail starts to be way more fun in the next week when they're more in town (she's a thief, remember, not much to do while fighting goblins), I really enjoyed it; can't name specifics because of spoilers. xD And you can't expect they'll get everything super right off the bat, sometimes they need time to build up something.
Also, they play elves, they're not exactly known as an entertaining and talkative bunch. I think they're doing great.

They weren't fighting Goblins all the time though, so there was space to develop their characters. And it also didn't seem like they were building up something.
The last part of what I wrote before addresses that. Both elves interacting with each other is fine, like right in the beginning in the bar and when they killed the first few goblins. Should have continued like that.
Anyway, gonna see how they do in week 2.

I'm not familiar with D&D at all, so this is completely new to me. Watched the both weeks yesterday and enjoying the series.

I feel like Neal (Dungeon Master) is doing a great job and is excellent choice for a DM. Geoff funny as always and really fits in. JP being the drinking one is obviously a good choice. I gotta agree with Lucumo though, elves need to step it up a bit. Ryan has been okay so far, thinking a little what to do next and so on, which is good, but Genevieve has been disappointing. I feel like she needs to do more than just yell "whats-up", shooting arrows or walk to a healer once. She has had free hands to do whatever she pleases, but hasn't done much.

But anyway, as i said already, enjoying it a lot and I can't wait for week 3.

Stop being critics. This is so weird, it is kind of like those armchair trainers in sports, who always know exactly how their team should be organised and how they should have played.

This is exactly the reason why almost all roleplaying groups have a "no spectators" rule. It is so much easier to judge stuff when you are not involved, and everyone looks kind of silly playing rpgs from the outside.

Though i guess this is not just a group playing an RPG, but also an entertainment product.

I think Gen started to get it about half way through the second week. She was definitely frustrating to watch at first but I think she's doing fine now. It probably just takes some getting used to. I'm sure Ryan/Bregor will get a little more comfortable soon too and show us his personality as well and all four players/characters will start to gel into an entertaining cast of misfits. And I personally can't wait. The show is entertaining enough already and only two of the players have really been cutting loose... how good is going to be everyone figures out how to "be" their character and all four of them are playing off one another!

I feel like week one was the "Tudagub Episode" with JP + Show Spoiler +
smashing goblins and magical orbs
and week two was the "Vincent Episode" with Geoff + Show Spoiler +
obliterating the giant ogre and fighting/interrogating/attempting to seduce the sexy elf assassin.

I'm excited to see what happens tonight!
