Also, I never noticed Paradox was in this project. Nice! From what I read Obsidian expects lots of sales, something like 10x the number of KS backers (not sure in what timeframe). We don't know if what they got through KS was enough for PoE. For WL2, total cost was 2x the KS money (Brian Fargo invested 700 000 $ of this own money and they got around 2 million $ more from Early Access) so total cost was around 6 mil $. They earned 1.5 mil $ in first 4 days (no numbers after that).

That's actually sooner than I expected I suppose. That's absolutely nothing compared to the waiting time for Game of Thrones, or most other games I'm looking forward to.

http://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive Regarding financing, PoE, WL2 and Torment are not financed 100% by KS, they do expect some extra sales and therefore can go beyond their KS/backer money. It's not that they couldn't just finance it with KS, you can always make a cheap game, but it's not smart to stay at that limit if you know sales will cover the rest and still make a profit. It's especially important if they want to start a franchise that they make the most out of their first game.

It really seems like BG 3. I don't know if I like or dislike the fact that it uses it's own rule set rather than something like D&D 3.5e or something. I guess it really depends on the specifics of how it turned out. big problem with d20 systems is they aren't optimized for computers, such as by having more precise values/units.

That one was fine http://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive/b/588477048 So it's probably just beta bugs or the stream.

Graphics look absolutely fantastic, 100% what I would expect from a modern successor of Baldur's Gate. I believe he said he played at low res so I would expect it to be even better on a release build / good PC. I was not impressed by the combat system the first time it was shown during the beta but it's seriously looking good right now. A bit worried about difficulty since he's obviously making tons of "micro" mistakes and still breezing through the content in hard but I guess it's fine. Obviously can quite comment on story and companions but I have faith they're gonna come up with something at least decent. Anyway, cannot wait! ![]()

Gameplay vid from Pax East. I am unbelievably excited about this game. Looks like a genuine successor to Baldur's Gate!
