Tactical View description: http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Total_War_ROME_II:_Tactical_View
Looks far more advanced than I thought. It's not just a way to get an even higher bird's-eye view of the battlefield; it's a method to aid players in recreating historical battles.
What do you guys think about it? Do you like it, or will you yearn for an option to turn it off, lol?
|
they intended the tactical view to be just for overview and observing, but added the possibility to move your troops in that view after a lot of fans requesting that feature. i like it a lot, it looks good and very useful.
|
I think it's brilliant. I will avoid using it to move troops though. I'd prefer if you weren't able to move troops from it, just view and make decisions but it's still really great.

the best anti piracy feature is to make your game so goddam big that no one will be able to download it in the first place to seed it.

that would be 5 standard dvds? If so I am officially thinking back to the good old baldurs gate days :D
|
creative assembly has always been terrible with the game sizes

Holy fucking shitting christ. That tactical view is AWESOME.

Learned that Fall of the Samurai had "veteran" units called Foreign Veterans in the campaign. They could sabotage armies and buildings, and help raise recruitment in provinces. Seemed like a combination of ninja's sabotage and monk's rally abilities. Maybe the Veteran in Rome II will have similar characteristics?...
I'm just still scratching my head at how CA plans to divvy up the agents' actions, lol. They seem to change every game.

Maybe: Dignitary is bribe, city buffs (dont know what his army boosting ability could be) Spy is assassinate, scouting, line of sight buff Champion probably an army buff (+morale for example), but not sure about what else... anti-agent and rooting an ennemy in place ?
Oh and probably some ennemy province abilities like revolts, opening doors...

I remember in an interview Al said that one of the agents would be able to harass armies.

i'll join the steam group, loved Rome 1, and i'm looking to get Rome 2 as well, though i'm not entirely convinced by the art style of the unit cards tbh :/ preferred the Rome 1 style of portrait-esque styles than this heiroglyph? sort of picture style but meh it might grow on me

Unit cards have been modded in Shogun 2, so you'll have a variety of unit cards styles to choose from, 100%.

The greek pot painting portraits are aweeeeesome I love them!
|
the unit portraits are just contemporary (right word in that context?), like they were in shogun 2. i really like the style they are done in.

Patience young grasshopper, everything will be modded to suit our needs

The preload is now available. Which means we can have it, but we can't play it. FML

Its OK I need to leave my PC on for 6 days for it to finish preloading anyway.

9.9g isn't that big. Its about average for a high budget game nowadays..
