I'm now Conjurer 17, leveled up Culinarian to 5 and Arcanist to 5 too, and unlocked most of the other classes. Everything is starting to make more sense and I've run my first leves and am now knowledgeable about how to travel around and everything. The server was stable all day. I'm loving it! At 15+ the story also picks up and you start feeling like less of a newbie. ![]() If anyone is on Phoenix (EU), msg me at Din Durnak - your Lalafell pocket healer. My only question at the moment is: When or where do I get a materia? And please quick confirm: I get retainer and chocobo after the Main Story quest takes me through the first 3 instanced dungeons, that is correct?

Chocobo is after those three + ifrit and you join your grand company, then you have to farm up 2000 company seals (I suggest running the fourth dungeon, Halati, after joining your GC because it gives you a boatload of seals from the company hunting log.) After that you can get them by doing quests for GC or grinding FATEs for seals. I, unfortunately, did the whole thing with nothing but FATEs because I didn't know about the fourth dungeon at the time. Ouch.

Well, for most of them it's how they pay the bills, so you should understand that they won't cover it.

At a certain level (20ish iirc) you get a quest and a skill for breaking down spiritbound gear into materia (every piece of gear has a spiritbound % that increases when you do battle while wearing them, once it reaches 100% you can break down the item into materia). e: When replacing gear it's a good idea to check out the spiritbound % of the old item, and if it's near 100% keep wearing it a bit longer so you can break it down.

Well, for most of them it's how they pay the bills, so you should understand that they won't cover it. Sure, but they are not entitled to make money off of it and "exposure/free advertising" is such a bullshit excuse, very few games have had a massive draw thanks to videos and even the ones that did the youtubers received more than enough to be happy.streamers/youtubers walk a fine line between money whores and dedicated game informers, they're all identifiable as both in many cases. ![]()

Considering how Square Enix has taking a lot of criticism in the past four years for the abysmal FF XIII and trainwreck that was FF XIV the original; not to mention their bonehead statements about how gamers in the west just weren't looking at their product the right way, that's why it seemed poor (not because they actually put out a bad product) - I kind of hoped they might have evolved. It wasn't long ago that they were apologizing to the fans, firing and replacing the director of FF XIV, and announcing that they fucked up pretty hardcore - so when they continue with their bullshit policies, it kind of reinforces the fact that they still don't know what they're doing.

The problem is more like JP do not do cust relation / support same way western developers does. It just happens SE is one of the most relevant JP company for western audience.

FFXIII was and still is very successful in Japan, 1.0 barely failed in Japan honestly, Japan comes first always, SE:NA has to deal with upset westerners not SE:JP, its the same as Nintendo of America, but at the end the day, Japanese company will satisfy Japan first, if you're a PC gamer you should be happy that as a developer and publisher they refuse to abandon PC and cry pirates like so many NA companies.

Can you expand on how not allowing monetization conflicts with "Japan comes first always"? Also, how many notable NA companies abandoned the PC and cry pirates?
