"Hello All, First off, I'm not intentionally being vague about any of this. I can't answer many questions because I simply don't have answers at this date. But I can give you a bit of backstory on the beta if it helps. When is the Beta coming? I don't know. We were working hard towards a beta for mid-late January but with all the uncertainty that emerged in the first week of January about the THQ bankruptcy process, we put a hold on the beta date pending the results of the THQ sale. Note, it did not put a hold on our effort internally - we kept working on the game. Any future beta needs to be arranged in conjunction with Sega. When they are ready, we'll be ready. I can tell you that there have been hundreds of changes in the game since the Alpha Stress Test in both gameplay and in the UI, hundreds of bugs have been fixed, and performance is improving daily. Preorders. This isn't my area of expertise, so I can't really comment. My suggestion is to hang tight and wait for official word, but I understand that what you do regarding your pre-order is a personal decision. Quinn" The game had a release window of March 2013. So, in effect, no one really knows when the beta test will start or when the game will be released. There is a bunch of speculation, but no one really knows anything including Quinn Duffy (the head game designer guy). If Sega/Relic says something in the next few days I think everything will be fine. If Sega/Relic says nothing until March that'll be a bad move on their part. | ||

What is the matter with appreciating both? Both are good. Both have flaws. CoH2 only having 2 factions makes it a limited experience. SC1 path finding and its assortment of other bugs was only recovered by Blizzard's 2 years of post sales support bug fixing. I hope Sega keeps the price at $60 for a long time and bans hackers vigilantly. you realize David Kim is a former Relic employee? Having several RTS Studios as powerhouses competing with one another is good for all fans of the genre. It keeps the genre alive. | ||

He was talking about CoH sale (which you could get in Humble THQ Bundle for $5). | ||

It was only if you wanted to have THQ's newest and best title ( i think it was Saints Row 3 ).... where u had to make a payment that was "higher than the average payment". 1. beta test announcement was supposed to be monday .. its not. 2. server switch was supposed to keep things off line for a coupe of hours .. lasted more than a week. 3. CoH1 multiplayer constantly going down despite repeated reassurances that everything is just fine. also, during the entire THQ mess Relic stayed on message .."everything is great just keep up with the pre-order cash flowing in" i'm not worried i didn't pre-order the game. the feature set revealed by QD yesterday makes it look like this really is not a AAA $60 game. they can't even keep their web site going. the promised "down a couple of hours to switch servers" lasted more than a week. and now again the official site is down... its a comedy show. i wouldn't be too worried about it because it'll be on sale for a lot less than $60 a month or two after it is released... and you'll know exactly what you're going to get as opposed to spending $60 on a bunch of "ifs buts and maybes"... CoH2 could turn out to be a good RTS game... i'm just not willing to bet $60 on it. | ||
