it was a known bug in beta months ago and zenimax didn't patch it
then when the game went live it was reported multiple times in the forums and zenimax closed the threads
now it's come to light that tons of people have been duping making millions of gold and copying thousands of items and the economy was basically destroyed
thats why guild banks went down tonight, they actually patched it
so the question is what are they going to do next Deja vu? Didnt the exact same thing happen in Neverwinter Online just a few months ago? Dupe bug known since beta ruins new games economy. Do these people not read up on any of there competition?

I wonder where this leaves it so soon after release. Im sure a good portion of the population wasn't at high level/max level so hopefully not too much damage has been done to the economy, being able to dupe millions of gold probably is gonna make that currency worthless unless they go through log by log and painstakingly remove the extra gold.

I'm enjoying pretty much everything design-wise / concept wise about the game. Just mechanically the servers are running like a pos at times and their customer support is completely uninformed / useless most of the time, (they've claimed a bank wipe bug to have been patched 3 seperate times already...)
When quest npcs are working, I can log into the game, I dont get stuck in a loading screen (like right now, aka why i'm on teamliquid and not playing...), or I'm not randomly banned for 12 hours the game is enjoyable...
The game and story are good, just the systems that they are running on are a disaster a lot of the time... imo it is worth $15 a month, but definitely not until they fix their systems. Probably going to take a break once the free 30 days are up and wait it out.

im just about level 20 and i think im gonna quit
and there really is only one particular reason im quitting, because i actually like this game i like a whole lot about it
i am quitting because the game is filled with running. nonstop running. quests are about 3 times more running than anything else. go talk to this guy. now run across the map and talk to this guy. now kill 5 mobs which takes 10 seconds and then run across the map again to talk to another guy. etc etc etc. i don't know how anyone enjoys this. i was hoping it would change pace but it doesn't look like it's going to.
i actually like the game enough that i would level up just by grinding mobs but they made it so mobs by theirselves are worth very very very little experience compared to doing these horrible quests.
you know i might actually just grind mobs anyways. maybe i can do it fast enough to keep up

lol this sounds exactly what I hate about mmo's in general (haven't played this one, so am not trying to knock it or anything). I remember in LoTRO, some of the paid content was like this (the free content was often better :D)... one in particular I remember had you running around collecting this and that, over and over- extremely tedious and mundane. Then there was group content which was fun, but was stuff that no one ever did and queues were long. I guess most people prefer doing "run around and collect X" stuff.

Exactly how I feel about it... There might be more of a story to all the quests than in other MMOs, but I guess I really do prefer the "Kill 20 of those" and "Collect 15 of these in a mob-filled area" kind of quests.
ESO really lacks action.

I was always expecting ESO to fail for a variety of reasons (ranging from greedy business model, to PvP being an afterthought, to ES series not translating well to MMOs and even Zenimax not having a good track record with some games), but I'm SHOCKED by this whole bank duping thing.I can't believe they missed something so simple and if it's true that it was pointed out back in beta, then they have only dug their own grave ahead of schedule. I actually feel bad for them.
Reading their forums, this is a disaster. People are dropping like flies, and it's pissing off those who stay, which will make them more sensitive to the other issues. Plus it's hard to determine who to ban since it was so easy to do a lot of people did it accidentally or to just see if it worked. That and the economy is fucked for the near future.
Talk about a PR nightmare. The horrendous customer service doesn't appear to be helping.

Grinding mobs is actually much faster exp than questing. There were several people who hit veteran rank on the second day just from mobs. At the veteran ranks grinding mobs is a bit more tedious. On some parts of the map there will be mobs at high density, and people usually get into a group going from spawn to spawn and spamming AoE. Most notable are zombies and beetles.

Apparently 2 more dupes/money generating things have popped up, one involving Hirelings. Been posted on a lot of the forums. Best quote:
"Cut off one head and two more shall take its place. Hail Hydra!"

There is a long list of reasons I cant bring myself to play/enjoy this game... but I had such high hopes for it since its announcement.
This is one of the reasons I cant bring myself to enjoy it though. I would rather do 100x "go kill 20 goblins" etc generic quests... than have a quest be "spend the next 20 minutes running back and forth between NPC's not killing a damn thing"
Like, it seems like they have managed to take all of the action/adventure out of the game, in favor of story telling.
At the end of the day I play these kind of video games to be a badass monster killing machine, a slayer of men and beasts alike..... not a goddamn errand boy concerned with imaginary peoples' drama.
IDK Like I said.. i have a long list of issues with the game, but honestly Id prefer grinding out EXP to MOST mmo questing systems atm

If this game isn't F2P inside of 4 months, I will deep fry and eat a crow.

Just the meat or the whole thing, including feathers and bones?

Must be videotaped as well

Is there like an end game dungeon/raid? Just curious as to see if any hardcore guilds cleared or almost cleared the hardest content atm.
I remember them saying they have raids for large groups when I heard talks about this game.
|
I feel like the crow wouldn't deep fry properly if it still had feathers.
|
I'm curious as to how all these people decrying the quests didn't notice this in the beta. It appears nothing has changed.
|
maybe they didn't play in the beta, or expected their beta feedback to have an impact to make the release more enjoyable? seems reasonable to me.

Don't try to sneak yourself out of this one. I want to watch you eat a deepfried crow in 4 months! Feathers and all

The only endgame content atm is PvP. The dungeons at the end of the game right now are basically another stepping stone for gear upgrades. Endgame PvE content will be released soon in the form of Craglorn.
