I think I felt this way since the game was based off Skyrim...and all the time I was playing I kept wishing it was at least just as epic as Skyrim. Doesn't hold a candle to what Skyrim offered in terms of PvE. Of course the PvP is better and seeing other people run around is great, but I feel like I was playing a really dumbed down version of Skyrim with just multiplayer added. Sorry folks.
So this looks awesome. Already announcing high-level 4 and 12 man zones. For ES nerds in the house, it's in a Yokudan-influenced area of Hammerfell, south of the existing DC area.
So is this a waste of money if I'm looking for heavy minmaxing stuff and very skill-based challenging endgame with interesting builds? 5 skillslots feels like a total killer.
By the way, I didn't really like Skyrim whereas I played Morrowind for thousands of hours.

IMO, just wait until it inevitably goes F2P like I'm doing. The game isn't worthy of a sub price at all. Also, it can't be compared to any previous ES titles, it's mostly your average themepark MMO with a ES skin.

I agree it's your average MMO but in a Elder Scrolls skin but I disagree about it being not worthy of playing.
the whole thing i like about mmos is the 30 skills i have to use in different situations, i just dont get these new school mmos with like 5 skills. Thats so boring!
It works for dota and diablo, but thats about it for me personally.

I didn't say that the game isn't worthy of playing, just not worthy of a 15$/month sub price.

Its because consoles. There is absolutely no good reason for it
In fact the limitation is extra annoying as someone who played both FF11 and FF14 using a controller on PC and had 20+ abilities bound
That is true, 2 of my IRL friends play FFXIV on PS3 with controllers and they are both raiding the toughest content in the game weekly with no problems despite having around 20 skills they are using.
It's taken me 5 hours to get to level 8 out of 50 and the game is doing an awful job at teaching me how to play. There are no quests for me to complete to level up and the other quests I find are 4 levels too high for me. I'm legitimately confused

5 hours level 8 sounds pretty normal, and the game is designed so that you can complete quests in almost any order (which may be quite confusing if expecting a linear game). Generally, quest levels are sorted first by regions, and the within each region they go from lower level on one side to higher on the other side. You have to explore a lot to find all the quests. Which alliance are you in?
EDIT: I think I know what the issue may be. You don't actually start off in the starting island. You have to take a boat to the starting island. Yes, this is very confusing to any player who does not specifically know this.
So I am still not sure if I wanna get this. I am looking to get back into an MMO ESO looks pretty good. But people seemed about it. I don't really wanna play too hardcore like WoW required when I played to see new things. So IS ESO worth it? I love the Elder scrolls games that I have played.

If you are still on the fence on this game then the only thing that's going to change your mind is to try to the game yourself. Buy it and try it or see if you can try it from a friends account. Too many people either hate the game or love it.
it was a known bug in beta months ago and zenimax didn't patch it
then when the game went live it was reported multiple times in the forums and zenimax closed the threads
now it's come to light that tons of people have been duping making millions of gold and copying thousands of items and the economy was basically destroyed
thats why guild banks went down tonight, they actually patched it
