The first-person combat that was shown in the leaked video a month back wasn't very impressive at all, but probably because it was obvious that there were a lot of placeholders involved. Tbh, I'm not sure if Skyrim's first-person combat is a good thing to emulate. Even though I found the combat is better than that of Morrowind or Oblivion, there are some better implementations of first-person melee combat in other games outside of the Elder Scrolls franchise. And I'm also worried about how the art direction in certain regions of ESO may affect those of future real Elder Scrolls games. On one hand, they could always retcon whatever was made in ESO, but on the other hand, the discrepancy will always be bothersome, especially since there are some lore enthusiasts who are unhappy that Bethesda retconned Cyrodil from being a jungle that was described in some early lore books to being a standard European fantasy forest setting in Oblivion. Yeah, i recall that. When i was preperaing to play Oblivion i was sure it would by jungle, or at lest mediterrain. I was quite surprised by generic European landscape. I dont like backtracing on once introduced lore/outlock. So i am kinda worried about ESO. For example it always make me sad when i read WFB army books and their stories change between editions.

It'll come down to if they can actually make the game good without depending on the community to make a million great mods for it. I remember oblivion being hell on computer systems when it came out, and it looked pretty good to me. Not that I disagree though, graphics really doesn't mean much past a certain point.

Why can't companies figure out what FFXI figured out 10 years ago?

Why can't companies figure out what FFXI figured out 10 years ago? did u play FFXI? when playstation users were admitted on to the same servers it ruined a lot of the game for a lot of the people who played before. You were stuck in groups 99% of the time with people who didnt even have a keyboard setup, and in a game where grouping and communicating actually mattered... PS players were a nightmare with their 2 words per minute typing... I like that they do this, especially since we dont even know how TES will be controlled yet... like in a FPS if you mixed PC users with console users.. it would be a laughable experience for the PC users, you have infinitely more aim control with a mouse than with a console controller. idk im excited to actually try/play this game... havent enjoyed a MMO since TBC, but i really love playing MMO's

III looked like it was made in the 80's, but hey, it's still one of the best RPG's of all time.

How could you possibly stuck with people who can't type, when it require a ton of communication just to get a group? Or were you one of those people who just blindly invite everyone who seeking party?

Morrowind had breathtaking visuals on release, it was one of its major selling points and a big part of what made it into one of the most successful RPG titles. The only comparable game on the market around that time was Neverwinter Nights (which looked quite a bit worse, and felt a lot clunkier and limited), and Gothic 2 (which looked pretty good, maybe slightly better, but it also came out a year or two later iirc). Every TES game since Daggerfall has looked really good on release and scored a LOT of review points on visuals and technology alone, even though they all had questionable (to say the least) game design. Other than that, I agree with what the guy said. The modding community bailed out the last 3 TES titles and refined the content and mechanics up to what should have been the standard out of the box.

Hm I enjoyed oblivion/skyrim without using mods. I played the games and never used mods and found it a ton of fun. I didn't like morrowind though due to the shitty combat. I will be honest for this MMO I thought it was going to be a typical MMO, but from what I have seen it actually looks like it will be good. I like how they are using elder scrolls combat, aka oblivion/skyrim with first person. I think that is awesome, you can manually block, dodge, etc. Of course haven't seen a ton of footage, but this gave me a little bit of hope for this game. I wish at E3 they actually showcased their demo rather then just talking with a tiny bit of new footage though :/.

I specifically remember that i could not BELIEVE morrowind was a real game. It had those amazing graphics and you could do whatever the hell you wanted in a really big world! And then it had all those skills and weapons and you could use everything and it got stronger by using it. Skyrim looked a bit dated on release thanks to the console generation being on its last breath i guess, but they released HD textures.

I always had a conversation with whoever I want to party, what sub, skill, location etc if not partying with people I know. I played with plenty of people on PS2 but all of them had a keyboard. And that was 10 years ago. I don't see how that stops people from playing cross platform now.

They should have just implemented multiplayer in Skyrim even if as a DLC, but hey I guess they couldn't charge monthly fees from that... Funny that you say that, with WoW still n°1 :D
