You wouldn't but plenty people will. It's just 10x more comfy sit back on a nice reclaimer with controller than mouse/keyboard. For raid and stuff I'd use keyboard but just grinding controller is great.

Not sure if serious. The only things real Gamers play with Gamepad are Sports- and Racinggames and maybe some Actiongames with focus on Combat (like Batman Arkham X).
There is no difference in comfort between my Mouse/Keyboard and Wireless XBOX Controller.

And if TES only target real gamers they'd go broke in 3 month.
As much as people don't like to play with casuals, if no casual player, they'd need $500 monthly subscription to stay afloat.

Well, i played hardcore Lineage II so i tend to just ignore "casuals". And even my casual friends dont use controllers if they can use keyboard. A difference in game culture i guess.

So wait the console and pc gamers will be on the same servers? Won't that create unfair advantage in pvp for keyboard/mouse users? Also how are they going to handle load balance and other things?

No they will be on different servers this was confirmed unless I am mistaken.

No they will not be, but they should. There are MMO already do it, and most people love it. There would be some difference in PvP, but if PS4/XB1 player doesn't want to be disadvantaged, nothing stop them from getting a keyboard. There is no technical reason to why it couldn't be done, as there is no practical difference to a backend server what system user use. However, there might be policy reason as XBL has a "closed system" policy (PSN does not). This is not a new concept in Asian market at all but just something Western hasn't experienced.

I.e. himself? I feel like controller is more comfortable because I can play from a reclined position. I can do that with keyboard and mouse too, but I'd need to get wireless peripherals that I actually like, and some sort of surface to use them on comfortably, which presents a whole new set of problems.

I like controllers too.I wish you could play all mmos with controllers. It would make grinding less tiring.

An interesting approach was also Ryzom. Skill progression linked to skill use (Skyrim style), with the added possibility of designing your own spells/moves from basic bricks available at your level.
Another way to do it would be Eve, where you learn whatever you want. Not linked to the skill you actually practice, which avoids the grinding part, but leads to a farmer to one day switch his shovel for an axe and instantly become a warlord.
One drawback though is that min/maxers often identify the optimal paths in the skillset anyway, so it probably only means archetypes will be player defined after release. Freedom of doing your own thing remains, but will only be used by "that guy with a weird build".

just watched a 20 minute video... didnt see a single bow wielding PC...

I wonder which faction will have the least elitist mouse only self proclaimed pr0g4m3rs, sign me up for that one.

Some ingame images.
If lore could be raped in just two short sentences, this would be it.

Quest text and some landscape textures. Surely should be improved a bit before release. The blurs are blocking out the emails pasted on the gamescreen, by the way. Also, deathclaws?

First look at the skillbar and some skills. It seems they're going the ARTS route...

No stats, just health/magicka/stamina. I hope this is just a clever ruse and there's more stats than this. I'm sure there is, but this has me a bit cautious in that department.

I really hope they change that font.

Given the trend in the series (with relation to stats and customisation) I would venture a guess that health/magic/stamina/damage/armor being the only stats being quite likely.
|
I just saw that they were no real time combat. I'm disapointed a lot of MMO offer that today (DDO, Fallen earth). That's a bummer. Well... It's still a TES so i look forward to it.

Anyone know the beta schedule?
