Today there was a massive update on QL, with lots of new gametypes, a couple of new arenas, and a bunch of game fixes.
In addition, all QUAKE LIVE premium content will be free beginning today through Sunday, May 6th. During this Free Premium Week, new Premium and Pro subscribers will receive one or two free two-week Pro Subscription Tokens which can be redeemed to extend their subscription or gifted to a friend.

QL has 3 subscription modes: Standard / Premium / Pro
Standard only lets you play around in the standard gamemodes ( FFA / CA / Duel / TDM / Instagib ) in the standard maps and everytime you load a game you have to watch 15secs of ads
Premium lets you have access to every map and every gamemode, and you can instantly play without ads
Pro is the same as premium, except you can actually launch your own servers, and make your own gamemodes

They have laser tag!!! Coolest mod ever made for quake. I used to play hours of freeze tag back in the day. Maybe i'll hop on and play some more...

As someone who enjoys both quake and sc2 I highly recomend trying quake out. Esports has it's roots in quake and it's the only duel game better than broodwar (from a competitve standpoint). Competitve 1 on 1 v.ideo games were perfected by quake 3 way back in 1993. No races, no imbalance, only skill.

Quake live doesnt have the cpm game mode. You will have to go back to q3 for cpm movement and cpm/cpma weapons.

Might reinstall for some duels..

Indeed. It's called PQL though and you'll have to have someone host a server with it enabled in order to play it.

I just recently purchased Pro, so I'm happy to host for any TLers who might want to duel or whatever. Add me if you guys would like.
