If you want hard numbers, it's about ~50hrs of grinding for the later episode double rare cards, and ~20hrs for a rare card. There's light at the end of this tunnel though, because currently all DRs take insane amounts of cat dolls (a material) to craft, but in the next couple of episodes, they take less cat dolls and more of the other materials that you're going to have clogging up your inventory. So right now I've grinded enough to get a DR from each episode, and it took me a ton of time, but I'll get the next 3 episodes' DRs for almost free. It's also extremely important to note that DRs can be exchanged for other DRs from the same set, and most of them are faction-specific, meaning, you can switch over your Crux DRs for Vita DRs if you feel like changing decks. You usually don't need more than one or two DRs from each set.

I can never bring myself to try these games when I'm at home, cuz I'd rather spend my time practising SC2 tbh. But these kind of games are amazing when you're out or at work/school or something.

I don't think theres an App (though there definitely should/could be)

It doesn't take very long to farm the single-rare brilliant brain which counters any attempts to swap. One thing I've realized about this game is how luck-centric it is. There are NO targeted abilities or targeted spells. Everything is triggered, or worse, random. Since there's no meaningful direct damage or non-glitching victory conditions in this game (you can auto-win by decking yourself it seems) this game revolves around getting huge hulking beasts and then hoping you can land a swap/brain. Aggro is the only viable deck right now. Had a few hilarious starts though, with 2 Flag Knights and Pintail or something similar, where I just stomped. Loving this game. :D If you're dying to anything other than swaps, you need to farm some more basic ores. Just filter for all the 2/3 size spells. Fast forward and education are critical. Pick one of those buffs that is graveyard dependent. The 2 size field-based buff is also pretty decent if you don't have enough for the rares. There are a bunch of useful ones that get your pintail really buff really fast, though a marksman is typically good enough with the base 3 armor.
