It doesn't take very long to farm the single-rare brilliant brain which counters any attempts to swap. One thing I've realized about this game is how luck-centric it is. There are NO targeted abilities or targeted spells. Everything is triggered, or worse, random. Since there's no meaningful direct damage or non-glitching victory conditions in this game (you can auto-win by decking yourself it seems) this game revolves around getting huge hulking beasts and then hoping you can land a swap/brain. Aggro is the only viable deck right now. Stall/recycle decks seem very common as well. I wouldn't say Aggro is the ONLY viable deck. You can't effectively stall without a rare character card... In 1 turn, Crux gets strong enough to 1hko any <10 size follower. Also, since your dudes are forced to attack the level 1 stacked 20/3/20, you can't just "stall" like you can in MTG. You have to aggressively use spells to keep the dude not only disabled but out of play.
Also, I've noticed the AI is retarded and uses a lot of buffs without playing any followers...

I'll add everyone tonight, got to head out for a bit. Glad we're getting a lot of people interested!

I've noticed that when farming common drops, it is often faster to tank missions by exiting to lobby so you can go down a few levels. Character cards get a lot more time consuming the higher up the dungeon you go, but they still drop the same common crap.

The only card that ever stops you is Spell Swap, and you can counter it before you get a Brilliant Brain (which is single rare) just by having a dummy in the first two slots while building your snowball in the 3rd slot.

I got to the boss of the first dungeon with ease, then got my ass handed to me.
It's fun, though I think in-game goes by a bit fast, especially when you're just facing a computer. I can see limiting time in PvP, but for PvE we should get a bit more time to plan things out, at least in the first dungeon. It seems I'll have to memorize the cards in my deck and what they do, in order to actually play properly.
Also think my character's ability should be used after new cards are put on the field, as half the time my opponent has 0 cards left, making the ability useless.

IGN: Espard I play Academy and have been playing since closed beta. The whole game is based on luck can be a bit of a turn off (as well as how their servers are holding up atm...)

I think its quite possible to play without spending cash, but it takes a lot of grinding for rares/double rares. I've finished my morning character and 4 rare followers (1 from each episode) without spending any tokens yet. Seen you on before on channel 4 all the time. Knew you were a SC player ;D

No offense, but I don't think you're qualified yet to say what's viable or not.
At low DP, most people don't have removal spells, so games play out that way, but on the Korean server control decks dominate. Even ~400DP which is relatively low, you can build a deck (probably Academy or DL, or some hybrid) which does a good job of controlling the board. Also, it is fairly hard to determine exactly what "aggro" is in this game compared to traditional CCG's, since basically every deck needs to achieve victory through its followers. I don't think of buff- and Kana-based Crux decks as aggro, they are more like ramp/combo decks. Kana is currently the strongest strategy in 300DP ladder however.

Loving this game. :D If you're dying to anything other than swaps, you need to farm some more basic ores. Just filter for all the 2/3 size spells. Fast forward and education are critical. Pick one of those buffs that is graveyard dependent. The 2 size field-based buff is also pretty decent if you don't have enough for the rares. There are a bunch of useful ones that get your pintail really buff really fast, though a marksman is typically good enough with the base 3 armor. Thanks for the advice, I'll try to farm for those cards.
Oh, and my IGN is ChrisXIV, just like here on TL. ^^

Started playing (IGN Dandeli0n) with a Vita deck.
The battle system makes me kinda angry. So much randomness, it really sucks if you lose because your spells go off wrong and your followers focus the worst possible enemy. Then there's fights were I just steamroll with my first stack because the opp plays 3 spellcards, or lets one of my followers stack def.
I haven't tried PvP yet, since I can't even clear the 2nd dungeon. Yeah, I'm that bad.

Started last night after seeing this thread IGN: MyGarden playing as Academy loving the maids so far we will see if the game holds up clearing the second dungeon as we speak Edit: game crashed on floor 11/15 not pleased at least I saved on floor 8 :\
