I just grinded for the latter but it seems crafting it will put severe strain on my cat doll resource (currently I have 52) while the former is bit more rounded out. And then there is the fact that my deck are already weak against defense counters such as Red Moon and Shield Break, and New Lib. Member seem to be bit more vulnerable.

My current deck

As you can see still woefully incomplete, I need some decent debuff/removal card definitely and I am considering switching from cooking club deck to the library club deck. Any other advice about how to improve my deck would be welcome.

NLM is actually good because it eats shieldbreak. Since it is such a weak card anyway, it is better that it eat the shieldbreak than one of your higher size followers.

That's interesting point. I might as well replace 2 New Cook Club Students (or Svia since I have too much size 4 followers) with New Lib. Member then.

Vita is excellent for grinding, you just need some Wall Climbs/Uniform Tweaks and you're good to go.

Those are rares. Crux can kill pretty much anything with commons/uncommons coz AI is stupid .

EDIT: ok uniform mod isn't, maybe I'll try that later.

The thing is, Vita has better common/uncommon followers than Crux, but their buff spells are much worse. Once you get the buff spells though, you should be clearing faster than any other faction.

Then again you can clear most dungeons with a 40 dp dl deck.

I actually completed Advanced Dungeon before Intermediate, so I just chose to skip the Cannelle quest >.>

Picked up a kana and sinclair. Wow this shit is OP. It's like embarrassing how OP it is. 1 turn set up. Press ready 5 times, boss dead.
I'm sure this isn't optimal, but playing:
Education + Kana + Marksman is like a first turn autowin against anything without target-all removal.

What character should I get for a standard PvE Crux deck? Vanilla Luthica doesn't cut it for me in the higher level dungeons, where the enemy characters have better cards and better abilities.

The time it takes you to get a significantly better character card is time you would have better spent getting a rare follower and some kanas. See the post above yours, kana is the most OP card in the game right now. Abuse the fuck out of it while you can!

I feel like this game needs 2 spell tiers just like in MTG there were sorcery and instants. Many spells in the game right now (looking and brilliant brain in particular) have this probably unintended property that every k additional spells you play increases the probability of nothing happening to 1/2(1+k). I understand that such "counterspell" type spells need to be balanced for their otherwise overwhelming power, but against most of the disables in that tier, you are simply better off playing almost anything else with that size. To illustrate this point, by itself, in the best case, brilliant brain has a 1/2 chance of doing nothing... For 2 size, it is as likely to be useless as useful. Add an additional spell and it has a 3/4 chance of doing nothing. Add a 3rd spell, 5/6. I don't think there exists a valid strategy with a lower probability of success than attempting to blindly hit a spell you don't even know exists with another spell that has such a high chance of doing nothing--furthermore it is not a best response to almost any belief about what the other player has placed.

The direct implications here are that you cannot use any kind of "counter" abilities to facilitate a setup. You can only use them to protect a setup that has already been completed. Then in this case, there are far better ways of protecting a setup than using these types of abilities. So based on maximizing expectations of victory, it's virtually unjustifiable to run cards like brilliant brain in your deck since it is dominated by another card of size 2 on every conceivable board.

If, however, these "instant"-tier spells cast before your other spells, they could be used to actually protect a setup instead of just poorly defending a snowball. This would be a viable role, and I would consider running such a card with a 50/50 probability of hitting something.

OK, so I'll try to get Kana - is there a rare follower that I should absolutely get?

I got a sinclair and it kicks ass in conjunction with cards like fast forward and education results. The weakness is that it can't really be run with any attempts to recycle (lancer knight) so against certain 50hp bosses, it's tough to win before they deck you. Also farming it requires witch tower, which is basically unbeatable until you get some serious DP, though Celerity's vods on his twitch.tv site offers some really useful tips for how to take down the boss with vita. The crux dungeon is somewhat easier, and as celerity said "if you can beat leviathan [sic] you can beat sigma."

One way you can farm that dungeon for the heart stones, however, is just to get up to floor 10, then tank several fights in a row (click lobby to quit immediately) then start over. Alternatively, you can follow celerity's advice and switch between dungeons once you get to floor 10, burn the 15 minute cooldown, then restart at floor 1.

Another rare follower you might consider getting is Vanguard knight. It doesn't have as much growth potential as sinclair, but it doesn't burn your graveyard, so it might be stronger against certain bosses. You pay the premium with the extra 1 in size, and additional vulnerability to certain high-floor character cards that burn spells from your hand.

Vanguard is great for a snowball that keeps you from decking out once you've got her above 15 ATK/STA or so.

I'd say one more advantage for Sinclair over vanguard is that Sinclair is easier to swap in. She gets the same survivability on the first hit but turns around with 2 more damage on the first counter. That can be a huge difference when trying to stop an enemy snowball.
