Yeah, I'm planning to do this, should honestly make the S&O fight quite breezy (I hear you can 4shot smough with a +15 katana because of the bleed damage). I'm even considering stocking up on resins just to make shit even easier.

I'm scared T_T. I did the catacombs run to get the gravelord sword since I think it's the only decent weapon in the early game that you can two hand and does some dmg. Maybe I'm gonna use this build for some PvP too, but I think that dex builds are gonna own me really hard. edit: Maybe I can turn this into a Paladin Leeroy cosplay build... for some reasons I always liked his character.

Haven´t tried it myself yet and im not sure if it possible but as new kings keep spawning you in theory could damage single king to below 10% and then move to the next. Obviously SL <50 lets not make it too easy So turns out this is not possible since 5th king wont spawn if there is 4 alive. Alternative challenge completed: "Kill all 4 kings within 10 seconds" ![]()

Last time I beat sens fortress, here's the boss progression I did after that: * Asylum demon (because I wanted a titanite slab to get Iaito to +15), ridicuously easy without shield and lockon. * Smough & Ornstein, first boss where I felt it was much harder without lock (lack of shield didn't matter much). Took several tries. * Pinwheel (decided to go for great scythe instead of iaito), easiest boss in the game, shield/lock or not. * At this point I went through painted world of ariamis, but didn't fight pricilla * Hydra, far easier than I expected since the damage from the head attack was less than I expected. * Sif, ridiculously easy boss with shield, put my new skill in dodging to the test. Still quite easy once you get the timing down. * Ceaseless discharge, first time I fought him without cheesing him by running. I found it very hard to dodge his attack, fortunately it didn't oneshot me, which made the whole endeavor quite easy since the scythe did so much damage to him. * 4 kings. Ridiculous. Even in light armor and low vitality, it's still very easy to just tank and spank. * Sanctuary Guardian. Hell yeah, first time beating this boss since I haven't played the DLC before. One of the bosses where not having lock-on makes a huge difference, you have to roll a TON on this boss which forces you to drop your control of the camera.. and since this dude is quite relentless, this is a big problem. Took me quite a few times before he did his wing attack often enough that I could kill him. It's really fun playing through the DLC now... I used a guide quite extensively in Dark Souls, something I regret nowadays. Getting the chance to play through a part of the game I don't know anything about is very interesting. Can't wait for Dark Souls 2, will definitely not use a guide in that game.

You should watch the speedrunners "Vviking" and "Santzo" they use the Tearstone Ring which means they fight at low HP for more dmg and just dodge every attack.

Yup, watching EpicNameBro do his ENB challenge is similar, he plays unleveled base classes with starting equipment, not allowing to upgrade using fire or lightning, not allowing healing during fights. He has a video of him beating the sanctuary guardian with a lvl 3 sorceress with only standard pants and knife, while cursed so any attack will oneshot him.

![]() Disappointing to stop when I got this far, but meh, I've never beaten the bosses in the DLC so I think it's pretty fair. Artorias is definitely top of my list of bosses where lock-on makes a massive difference, he's sort of a pushover if you lock-on because everything becomes quite easy to dodge, far harder when you have to do it manually.

So far I've played kinda standard melee shield+spear/uchigatana with high endurance and vitality. looking for something new now. Any fun to play builds that are not too hardcorelike naked lvl1 shit or no shield stuff? Wouldn't mind an int based char his time around just to see the difference. Anyone has experience with that? First of all, I would recommend a SL1 run. It's actually not bad at all, I'm currently up to sens fortress myself (started 2 days ago). It's a really fun way to play the game because it forces you to play the bosses properly (unless you use summons) and tests your knowledge of the game. It's also quite relaxing in a way to care so little about souls. It also gives a nice perspective on how the game is balanced (just how little levels matter). Honestly, SL1 runs are more like hard mode than something hardcore, because levels just don't mean all that much. Bosses still won't oneshot you unless you get hit by stuff you're supposed to dodge, your damage is fine as you get elemental weapons (however, while easy, it took me quite a while to beat Quelaag with my fire reinforced club, didn't realize she was immune to fire damage ![]() You could do an int based char, just don't expect much challenge if you know what you're doing, with high int, proper spells and a good catalyst, pretty much every boss in the game becomes a joke.

2H only / no shield would be fun. I should do one of those myself.

Should I still get the DSfix mod and anything else that's important? Never played it or Demon Souls before. Does it look... shitty? Afaik the standard should still be shitty graphics that get scaled up without DSfix.

Haven't played this game in forever Dex to 40 asap, then vitality and endurance to a point where you feel comfortable, then 40 int to abuse great magic weapon. Weapon with good dex scaling (like Great Scythe or the katanas) + 40 int great magic weapon with tin catalyst + power within = massive deeps.
