As a Raiders fan, even though we won, it pains me that it was that close and it pains me that it could've ended differently had it not been for no MJD and Blaine Gabbert.

I don't give any fucks about what the implications are of playing so poorly, because what a fucking good game to go to. Perfect weather for tailgating, even better that we won. Were you among the people who booed when the offense had that terrible series? ![]()

New England fans real hivemind. I think I also cheered for Tebow to play, but moreso for our shitty secondary to carry our shitty offense. To be honest, most of the game was Patriots having a terrible series. Lloyd sucked ass, and Brady overthrew every pass above 20 yards.

I wasn't there, but as a Pats fan, I was pretty much screaming at my TV the whole game. I was surprised the crowd wasn't more angry, I was flipping a shit over how terrible they were playing. I expect the secondary to be awful, but the receivers were dropping so many passes they'd normally be all over, and Brady was making so many errant throws... I couldn't tell what the Jets were doing, but they were clearly rattled for some reason. Maybe being so close to a losing record is fucking with their heads, most of the players aren't used to that.

I don't think Lloyd or BJGE are gonna score more than five TD's between them the whole season, and Jackson just seems to be on his last legs (he got his first TD today though!). Problem is, the mouthbreathers in my league are too afraid to make a trade with me, and the FA list is pretty thin... the only options I'm even remotely interested in are Brian Hartline, Andre Roberts, and maybe Nate Burleson, all of whom seem like downgrades to me. Any ideas? I wasn't there, but as a Pats fan, I was pretty much screaming at my TV the whole game. It was frustrating, but not any more than any of the other 3 losses by a combined 4 points. It really only got really angry when McAntiClutchey fumbled the return.

Hopefully if it comes down to it Dan "I should have been a" Carpenter doesn't miss 2 game winning FGs again next week when we play the Jets again and we extend their downfall. Man! I couldn't believe how many missed FG's there were last week. That was nuts. It wasn't just him, the whole league was off. Maybe that was two weeks ago, now that I think about it. I'm pretty sure I slept through most of football last week, without the Bears playing. Something about the Jets makes Brady weak in the knees, and not in a good way. They really struggle vs that defense. I wonder if they would have won if Revis had been playing. I think some of those off-throws, or tips may have been turnovers with the best DB in the league back there.

They weren't getting beaten on athletic mismatches, they're making mental mistakes. McCourty, Wilson, Chung, et. al. have the quickness and size to match up against any of the Jets' receivers, they're just blowing coverages and biting on PA's and shit. With the front seven we have, pass protection shouldn't be that much of a problem. Something about the Jets makes Brady weak in the knees, and not in a good way. They really struggle vs that defense. I think it's odd, given how much worse the Jets are this year relative to previous seasons, and especially given Revis's absence. I'm still not really convinced that this has to do with the Jets as much as the team not feeling confident as a whole... they were doing totally fine until the fourth quarter, and then the wheels just fly off entirely, just like their other losses. It's nothing specific to their opponent, it seems to me like they don't believe in themselves when the game is on the line.

They aren't the machine they've been for the past several seasons. They've been shaken over the past few weeks; it definitely seems as though the losing has gotten to them. I think their mentality might be similar to the '07 Cubs in the NLDS vs the Dodgers. They lost game one (I don't recall how), but the players all said they had feelings of deja vu, one guy said "it was like, here we go again." And I think the recent fourth quarter implosions may have gotten to them mentally, and in the fourth they're tense, like "we need to be tighter, better than we have been recently," and then that creates unnecessary pressure. That said, the Jets just play them well most times, and that's all I meant with that last post. Divisional games are rough, even when one team should clearly be better. The Colts struggled past their divisional rivals in a lot of seasons where they were pretty much whitewashing other teams. They just know each others schemes better, almost as if they have the other teams playbook and they're just scheming against it.

I'm not a baseball follower, but I think what you're saying is 100% right. A lot of sports psychologists/analysts will harp on "a culture of losing" or something similar, and I think that that's exactly what we're seeing with the Pats right now. No Pats fan has forgotten losing a championship game in the final quarter a couple of times over the past few years, and I have to imagine that the players have ingrained it even more than us fans have.
