Some gameplay videos with developer commentary from E3: Machinima + Show Spoiler + Gamespot + Show Spoiler +
I read that Dust will feature mouse and keyboard compatibility, though I'm curious how that will work out -- will it be as good as it is on PC, or will the fact that it's designed for PS3 make mouse / keyboard a bit awkward or less effective somehow? Don't know, I've never really heard of being able to use a mouse and keyboard on a console shooter.
Overall I'm really excited for this game, and also really curious how it will play out in general. 48 players max on a huge map doesn't sound like a ton, but with a ton of vehicles around, how will it feel? How will the fact that you lose all your gear when you die actually feel when you're playing? It could be very harsh, or it could be well balanced to let you run more expensive fittings if you're actually good enough to not die constantly or rich enough to not mind when you do.
I don't know, it's just such a deep game that's doing a lot of new things (well, new to console FPS at least), I can't wait to actually get into it and see how it plays, especially the actual combat.

Wow mouse and keyboard will be pretty much essential if its giving that compatibility as there is no chance that someone playing with a controller would be nearly as accurate or quick to head shots movement etc. Guess i got to shell out for a mouse and keyboard for a ps3. Honestly i hope it isnt true as it will certainly make a divide between skill between those who have it and those who dont. Nothing wrong with a controller and i have no doubt that very good players can be quite accurate with controllers but its just not as intuitive for FPS as a mouse and keyboard plain and simple.

Then it's already dead. One thing is to require a different peripheral, but keyboard and mouse are incredibly cumbersome to use with a TV. Add that it is the first FPS from an MMO developer and we might have another Amalur on the making.

In which way do you suggest? Keyboard on lap and hope the coach's arm is flat enough for the mouse?

PSN: Rocketman276 Dust: Zedd Althor
You killed me a bunch earlier D: Is it against NDA to share our IDs on here? Or is that just for showing off the game to the public?
anyway, PSN Havok_Razor DUST: Havok Razor

How is it dead already when millions of people play fps on consoles? Maybe you heard of this little game called Call of Duty? Perhaps Halo? A controller doesn't make or break a game.

I think he's saying if people can use mouse/keyboard in the same games against people with controllers then it's not fair, which I agree with.
I'm not going to be playing Dust 514 (no ps3) but I too am curious as to how they plan to deal with this.

Meh bring it. I like the challenge. Some people use controllers and some people use fight sticks in the FGC. imo I don't think it will make a big difference.

Ive personally never seen any top players using a controller over a fighting stick in the FGC, maybe im wrong though. Regardless for sure if your down for the challenge, but especially if there is sensitivity options (or your mouse has them) there is just no way that a player with a controller can get to a head shot as fast as a mouse(assuming players of similair skill level with their respective choice of controls), or do an instant 180 like a mouse, thats just not how controllers work =( So it may be more of a challenge then you think.

Tanks have limited turret turning speed, allows controllers to be fairly easy to aim, Dropships, they'll be fine, Command ship duties probably have a decently controller friendly interface.
Also Soldiers have turning speed as an actual imposed value depending on what suit you have on and what fittings you have, that also limits the difference between the two control interfaces.

In EU and JP, I think the sticks are the norm at the top level but in the US it's the exception. Just watch the MLG this weekend and you'll see.

*grumble grumble* NDA, NDA, NDA
Sharing user names isn't against NDA, for those who asked. Its mostly there to keep us from showing off gameplay and discussing mechanics of a WIP game.
Risking breaching my NDA I'll sort out what has been candidly sorted out by devs in a handful of discussions outside of our beta feeds.
CCP plans to allow M/Keyboard, PS Move, and Controllers at launch. It would be pretty silly if they hadn't thought about having mechanics that kept this in the realm of balanced. Silly even for CCP.
That said use what you're comfortable with.
I hoping that NDA is lifted on the 29th since its a big semi open beta event that we should get news on, would be nice to answer the fears and concerns.

What I expect is that for gamers using mouse/keyboard to be in separate games from those using controller.

This is an article from Dus514base.com I found that discusses the kb/m vs. controller thing. Some interesting points, mainly that how good kb/m is depends on how its implemented.
Relevant passage:
But don't pop the champagne just yet. What does this mean for DUST 514? What happens when you throw both the KB/M and the controller into the same arena? Many players will point to a story that Microsoft was going to start a massive project to bring PC and Xbox 360 gamers together in the same game as a major part of the console. The story goes that they decided to shelve the project entirely when it turned out that average PC gamers would soundly beat even the best Xbox 360 players they had available. But where does the story come from? Turns out it's from HP's Rahul Sood (Founder of Voodoo. Just mind the plug for webOS at the end).
But is he right? From Joystiq's experience with Shadowrun back in 2007, he might not be completely right. Shadowrun, for those that don't know, was a game for both the Xbox 360 and PC that allowed you play cross-platform. According to them, the PC and Xbox 360 shared a similar number of victories in their play test sessions, despite the difference in input devices. They say that it comes down to is how the developer builds the game mechanics - the keyboard and the controller were on equal footing because the game play was designed as such.
So some interesting things to think about, but in general I trust CCP to work something out. At the least, it's too early to be saying "this game is doomed" based solely on the fact that kb/m is supported.

That this is not going to be available for PC is making me so sad. ):
