Alright, lets replace t2 with capital then. or something else. It was just an example everyone got hooked up on instead of focusing on the actual message of the post. Like I said, I was a memmber of the hatchery for 2 months, I was salvaging and missioning for about half that time, and not logged on the rest because I saw no reason to log in once I had the money for the next tier ship, while my skills weren't even halfway done. The guides on your wall includes PvP, Salvaging guide, missioning guide, trading guide, and so on. And you seriously don't consider any of those grinding? This game is built around grinding for crying out loud. I'm honestly surprised you don't see it. Of course mining is the worst of the bunch, and if you're having fun while doing these chores then it can't technically be called grinding. But saying this game has none is a straight up lie as its looked upon as the vanguard of grinding MMOs.

What? Yea I was wondering about that as well. If you're grinding in EvE and you don't mean to grind you are doing something terribly wrong. Everything in EvE is a grind to get to the next lvl of ship. Missions is a grind (I did a lot of those), salvaging is a grind, trading is a grind. Hell, even PvP is a grind if thats your only source of income (I guess if its entertaining it can't be looked on as grind, so this last one might be up for debate). If you lose a tech 2 ship in EvE, don't tell me you're looking forward to another half year of grinding to get enough cash for another one? (or however long it takes, I never got that far). But like I said, I did enjoy the universe. An fps set in the same place impacting the same things is a brilliant idea and I would love to try it..if not for being PS3 exclusive edit: Yes, I guess technically you could stay on that Rifter and be just as helpful. And if thats all you seek out of a game then thats all well and fine. personally I look for progress as well. Which simply takes a lot of grind in this game. Not saying its bad, just saying it wasn't for me. Well, you're wrong (sorry but you are). You don't work half a year for a t2 ship. Definitely not when you're with The Hatchery.. anyway, this is a different story and is a complete derail. Whoa, 3 replies and they all focused on the one sentence that said "half a year" no one noticed the "or however long it takes" behind. You can't really disagree with the fact that this game is about grinding, I was in the hatchery for about 2 months doing salvaging and missions before I got really bored of it. I didn't participate in much of the PvP, altough that is clearly my own fault. But saying this game doesn't have grind is just plain and simple wrong. But yes, it is way off topic. It all started with "I want to play this game on PC and not on PS3". The concept is brilliant, no doubt, and might very well be the future of gaming..But I just hate fps on consoles >.< Well you joined, didn't really play with us, left, and then said false things -.- There isn't grind if you don't want there to be.
Nvm. Seriously. You havent even bothered reading my post at this point, and it shows. Lets get back on the topic instead of turning this into a "eve got grind" "no lolol u noob join hatchery we never grind" kind of thread. This game might be the future of gaming, and the thread deserves better.

No, games like WoW or D2 were around grinding. You have to run dungeons and kill unique monsters to get special items to do it better etc etc etc
In EVE I run 5 missions and I'm set for a few days. Or I can just go out, kill people, take their stuff, sell it, and be set for a few days.
There is very very very very very little grind in EVE if you don't want grind.

Then I am mistaken. Lets get this topic back on track and talk about why its not on PC. I somehow just can't see the reason "we don't want to steal players from our own userbase" as very legit =|

Dunno why it's not on PC yet. Someone (Hilmar I think) mentioned it's strange because it's already got keyboard+mouse control programmed in in that funny little voice that you know means "it'll be on PC eventually".

Not to burst your bubble, but doing something to "be set for a few days" is exactly what grind is.
It's not on PC because you can't pass shitty shooter for a decent one that well there.

Yes, it has some grind, if you're pedantic enough. But it's the teensiest ever grind in a game when compared to any other MMO out there. All the 'level upping' can be done while offline and all the isk can be made in minutes if you're smart enough. Saying that the game is built around grinding or the vanguard of grinding is utterly untrue and false.
Excludos, for some reason you joined Hatchery and when you left you had a very skewed perspective on what EVE is. You even give a possible reason for it yourself saying that you never joined us for our PvP exploits and that your experience was limited to the missioning/salvaging aspects of EVE. It is fair to write about your experience but trying to counter people that know EVE a lot more than you is just silly.
BACK TO DUST514.

I am interested to see how remote/self repair works in game. Can you basically have medics, is my line of thought here. Might it be a player in a dropship that follows other players around, or a medic type suit. I have seen the bit about the dropships having remote reps and repping a tank.

Also it would be a hilarious parallel for two guys on a team to run around jumping up and down in a circle repping each other, exactly like Guardians do in space.

Thats what happends when you get Kwark as a mentor (ooooooh!).
I didn't realise this game was in beta yet? If someone here has tried it: How does it play? Any good at all?

While being crude, it might have a grain of truth in it. Maybe they where afraid of their game being below average on launch? I can't completely believe that either though, as PC gamers have an easier time diving into games with lower standards than console players (case in point: Tribes Ascend. While I have no number on how many are playing, it does look rather successfull. and its really fun, despite running on unreal 3 engine)

Kwark is pretty much the worst mentor possible.

I lol'd. ^_^ Sorry, couldn't resist.

Well this is just a matter of taste. I, for example, can't care less about the graphics. Also I hate too many effects. If it's doable and you can see all you need to see to be able to get all the info, without exceeding distraction, it's good enough. The playability is the important part and that's where Dust is interesting, in the fact it co-operates with EVE. It is unique. And there are not that many new unique games out there lately. (a bit of derail - I also don't like Tribes Ascend. I play it a bit with my friend and I feel like I lack any type of control over what's happening. It also might be that I suck, but if you have a game with such high speed movement and open space, and you just see 3 guys passing you by not caring because you can't do enough damage/stop them then something is wrong. And I definitely suck too.. even though I did quite decent in other shooters, here it just feels terrible.)
I am just wondering how would they deal with the fact that PC controls > PS3 controls for shooters, if they decided to add PC and merge it with PS3 players.

man this game is going to be amazing

I'm pretty sure should it come to PC they will split PC and console battles apart. There is no way it would be fair to make them play together.

Because the eve universe is full of fairness? Ultimately i think its against the spirit of the game to not mix them, and realistically from what we've seen at the fanfest tourny, team work is much more important than individual skill, which would help hide the control discrepancy

Fairness within the game is one thing, fairness because you have a console instead of a PC is another.

Has anyone considered setting up an actual website for the TL Eve/Dust514 community? I'm not saying change the name or not be related to TL, but just its own site? Seems like there is more than enough interest, especially in the Eve Corporation thread to have enough users to make it worthwhile.
If anyone is interested in something like this I'd love to talk about it some more and maybe work on something.
Also, incase you haven't seen it yet. Decent 14 minute video about Dust 514 from Bandon Laurino:

at some point I think we did have some one trying to make a hatchery website. While I'd love an awesome site that put to shame the other major alliance website, there's honestly not a lot of use in one for us. I don't even think anyone has bothered to even use the CCP corp forums we were given. The most use we would get out of one is making it a prettier recruiting post, rather than the obscenely long eve OP.
If you really want to make one though, I'd talk to Kwark about it.
