I assumed everyone stopped caring about him. He's been in China for ages now
|
seriously, great read right there.
Only thing I worry for is the volatility of Chinese fans against a foreigner - alot of asians all over the world still hold massively racist and/or harshly critical sentiments and if Marbury slips even a little in stats or PR... I wouldn't be surprised if the fans did a complete 180 on him

I am with you Holcan. I am not on their bandwagon at all, just think this is an okay pickup for them. Their offense is hard to watch sometimes..
Speaking of offenses, <laker fan voice: ON> I can't believe Lakers lost to Rockets last night. I mean a lot of teams are running some simple offenses it seems, but HOU prob runs the same play like 80% of the time. Give ball to guard, set a high screen, find the open shooter...yet, Lakeshow couldn't beat them, dissapointing...<laker fan voice: OFF>
edit: and GREAT read indeed on Starbury.

If Fish helps OKC win the championship, it will be because he can hit wide open shots (there are a ton available for OKC), not because he is 100 years old.
|
age =/= experience. championship veteran experience > veteran experience. A veteran who can communicate/has leadership qualities > veteran who can't communicate or teach. Fisher is all of these.
If Fish hits open shots it will be a huge plus and prob more than OKC expected. But OKC didn't get Fish b/c of his shooting, they got him b/c of the intangibles he brings to a young, on-the-verge team. Even if they don't win a ship this year, the reason teams bring in vets is b/c they are able to (hopefully) give career-long lessons/tips, and not just the current season.
For the last 15 years, Fish has been facing Western Conference teams and seen the transformation of offenses during that time. Against teams like the Spurs, Mavs, and Lakers (not Sloan and Jazz anymore), that could be pretty helpful come playoff time...
Or it could not. But it's still a good pickup worth the risk. Plus he might find his stroke in OKC like you said (which would make me T.T)

experience will be more mental attitude if anything. not expecting anything big from fisher himself

Or, you know, he could just be straight up better than Royal Ivey and Reggie Jackson.

Does that take away from everything else? There are other players they could sign that would be better than those two.

Better than Fish? Its not like there are many C.J. Watsons or John Lucas IIIs on the open market at this point.

Why the Heat signing Turiaf again? Will he be the reason they win the championship this season? (And I love Ronny.)
OKC could have signed Gilbert...He could hit open shots like you said, and arguably better than Fish. My point is Fish brings more to the table than just possibly hitting shots, that's all I meant.
edit: clarity.

ronnie is just a way to prevent/make up for injuries, and gilbert is a ball handler, why do the heat need another ball handler? they have 3.5 already.
ronnie brings energy, and more size up front, surprised they went for him with diaw just going on the market though, must really value his size, or he is probably just in better shape, not that either are the posterchild of body fat.
or diaw is just commited to the spurs

Lol, I have been waiting to see those ridiculous raptor jerseys!
|
Oh god, what are Toronto wearing!??

@holcan: I didn't mean the Heat i meant OKC, and I wasn't being serious I was just trying to make a point with clutz I edited it tho bc it really was unclear.
Not a good start for philly :/

Philly goes 0-15, takes 8 minutes to get a FG. Overpassing and derping in the paint with violations.
edit: Already triple 3 second-violations

Fisher to OKC. He could teach Westbrook a thing or two, i just wonder if Westbrook is willing/able to learn.
|
This game vs. the Raptors reminds me of their game last year, Bulls came in with a good run and can't make anything go :\ Hopefully they can shake it off as the 3rd quarter goes along
