The fact of the matter is that Portland is a pretty good team, while the Knicks are a mediocre team, though people expect them to be championship contenders for some bizarre reason. People are saying, well I hope the Knicks can get it all together and realize their potential. Sorry to break it to you guys, but just about every team says that.

Delusions shared by almost all fans of Eastern Conference teams. The only real contenders in the East are Chicago and Miami, and they aren't nearly as dominant as their records would suggest. By that same token, the Thunder and the Spurs are actually even better than their records suggest because they are doing what they're doing in the West.

Not to give Chicago credit or anything, but they have had, probably, the most brutal schedule in the NBA this year.

They're the far and away best 2 teams in the league and their records actually don't reflect how much better they are than everyone else. I'll see you eat your words when a Western team wins the championship again Ace. People were saying the same thing last year and the Mavericks ( a team most people didn't even think would make it out of the second round) won the title and few saw it coming because the West was stacked with 8 teams each of which had a legit shot at a title run. Chicago is the same team as last year and Miami is a little bit deeper but to say they are any more dominant than they were last year would be a bit of an exxageration.

Dallas won because they got hot and out played Miami. But if you honestly think that there were Western teams on the level of Miami or Chicago even last year then I think you're lying. The only team last year that had a dominant run like them was San Antonio. Chicago is even better than last year. Same problem with injuries, this time to Rose and Deng - ranked even better offensively. Miami is also ranked better offensively over last year and both teams still have top defenses. I'm not sure what a team has to do to be dominant in your book because by any metric of modern NBA teams they are both dominant. This is 2000s Lakers, 2008-2010 Celtics, and mid 2000s Indy/Detroit all over.

I had the Blazers, Lakers and Thunder all beating the Mavs last year =D Dirk played possibly one of the best ever Playoff performances over all those series though. His focus and play was just phenomenal. Having said that, I have to side with Ace here. Even though the West is stronger overall, I'd probably only rate the Thunder as being on the Bulls/Heat level. Spurs and Lakers maybe, but they'd need a hot run like the Mavs last year IMO. The West is heaps stronger from 3-8 though compared to the East. The fact the Knicks would make the Playoffs today as things stand says it all.

With that said, I think the Thunder will be just as good as the Heat and Bulls come playoff time. Ibaka has played better and better as the season goes on and Harden is the runaway sixth man of the year right now.

DeAndre is still learning how to play basketball. Seriously, can be a huge dummy. But he has shown a lot. He's worth the $10 million more than Javale McGee (will be) or Andres Biedrens is. He's shown a lot over the past two years. A 2nd rounder big man that actually develops? That's pretty nice. 3 million less than Tyson Chandler stings though..............

He has a pretty limited skill set and I really don't see him improving much (granted I haven't see a lot of the Clippers' games this year). He still can't get his body positioning right on defence and consequently fouls way too much. He's probably getting paid more than he's worth given the Dubs made such a stupid offer to him the the Clips decided to match, but he looks more of a liability to the Clips than an asset right now.

I don't even know why guys like you that obviously watch a LOT of Basketball even bother to use regular season statistics to judge how things are going to go in the playoffs. They've been worth next to nothing for the last 4 years. If regular season stats held up Lebron James would be working on his third ring right now. The post season is a whole other beast and simply put, Miami and Chicago are not as good as they're being hyped up to be when compared with the upper echelon teams in the West. Any of the top 5 teams in the west have a legit shot at unseating either of them in a Bo7. Come playoffs, they'll prove it.
