Bynum's foul on Barea was really dangerous and pure frustration in a game that was already lost.
In a normal season this would have been 3 games for Love which is adequate in my opinion for an unsportsmanlike foul.

bynum could have seriously injured barea, scola wasn't going get hurt, it was just a dick move

No, you're right. Its not like the face is one of the most fragile and sensitive areas of the body or anything. No, the nose isn't the most commonly broken bone in the body.
Not at all.

Good way to straw man my point.
Yes, he may have suffered some sort of physical ailment, but he most certainly would not have been injured enough to ruin his career, unlike the foul on Barea, which was cringe worthy, and a lot like the injury to Rudy Fernandez from Ariza, which stifled his career.
We are talking about a league that makes its money off seeing people flying towards the basket, of course plays that could force injury on these athletic moves should be held in a higher regard than petty cheap shots like kicking, punching, clawing, spitting, biting, or whatever else low ball move this can be classified with.

Deng is back 3/3 from 3 and the Bulls are killing NJ!

Eeeep, not liking Rose going to the locker room :\
Luckily the rest of the guys are lighting it up, the two last games the Bulls have been shooting extremely well!

Kobe Bryant passed Shaquille O'Neil tonight for 5th all time NBA points scored on his 24th point in the first half against Philadelphia tonight.
Lakers led at the half by 4, Sixers are up 1 going into the 4th quarter.
|

|
Lakers lose to Philadelphia 95-90. LA had led for most of the 4th quarter by 4 until Lou Williams hits 3 consecutive shots including 2 3's to put Philadelphia up.
Bynum got a 20/20 game and Kobe ended with 28 points in the game after being doubled and triple teamed the entire second half.
Bench scoring disparity was absolutely ridiculous lol, and Doug Collins was smart enough to keep running plays for his guards where the Lakers have a huge hole in their defense while Fisher remains on the floor.

What happened to drose? I missed the first half.

Played two minutes in first quarter due to foul trouble, came in, had one drive for two points, went out with back spasms :\
Boozer went out late in the third aswell, though think it was just a cut above the eye, so nothing serious there.

I saw Kobe was shooting 9-16 after two (or maybe at the start of the third) and ended up with 9-26.. ouch :\

Umm, Rip Hamilton's entire career(basically) has required him to wear a mask because of a broken nose. Amare has to wear goggles because of an eye injury.
I watched the Bynum hit, it was way less dangerous than a real kick or stomp on the face. Granted, Love's kick was pretty pathetic because he was trying to get away with it, but at least Bynum's play was in the course of the game.
Also, it is not a straw man argument when you point out the realistic ramifications of someone's actions. If I said type II diabetes was a likely result of eating a sheet cake everyday that wouldn't be a straw man argument either.

That last play pretty much epitomises the Magic's struggles.
They were never going to be an NBA Champions calibur team with Jameer Nelson being their closer.

Doug Collins literally threw everything and a plastic bag at making sure that Kobe didn't keep up his performance from the first half.
They played ball denial, double and triple teams, and full court pressure on him. Andre Iguodala was also really physical with him and got away with it because the Sixers were at home like you'd expect.
All in all it worked and even though Bynum and Gasol played really well tonight 20/20 and 16/11 respectively you aren't going to get it done in a 48 minute game when your bench gets outscored 49-16 and your other starters combine for only 10 points.

Bynum's was way, way more dangerous. When you're up in the air like Barea was so many things can go wrong when a 280lbs beast decides to elbow you.
Love didn't exactly go American History X on Scola's face. He gave him a dirty shot, but it really wasn't that bad. Enough to knock a pea off a lamb chop? Yes. But cause serious damage? I'll need more convincing.

jeremy lin 20 points again
he's got like 7 turnovers though

I'll need more convincing. Thank you. One is a 280lbs ramming someone who is 175lbs while they are in the air, another is a 260lbs man stepping another 245 lbs mans chest.
Also, how many careers have been ruined over a broken nose, or bad eyes? Now take that number and subtract it by careers ruined by bad knees or bad backs...
edit: and it is a straw man argument, since Barea also had a chance to break and nose or injure his eye/jaw on that hard foul, you simply said a line in quick wit to argue my point that Barea's hit and Love's kick are hardly comparable. One is a cheap shot, the other was a flagrant foul.

Understandable, given the fact he's been playing for 37 of 40 mins. He looks dead tired. Coach not giving him any minutes before the last game and now the last 2 games he's put lin on for how long now?

Wow.. Butler AND Watson also getting hurt?!? C'mon, Chicago has only played with their real starting lineup five times this season, give us a break >_<
|
This is why Dwight Howard's rebound numbers are so inflated. The Magic have basically two offensive plays: Jack up a long range shot or give it to Howard.
