Interactive Co-op Gameplay: Whether AI or live, your crew of four must operate as one to bring home the bacon. It’s one for all and all for one.
Endless Replayability: Dynamic, adaptive environments combined with non-scripted enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows or special units crawling through the ventilation shafts makes play-through of every heist a unique fight.

More DLC: Additional heists, weapons and equipment means PAYDAY™—a digitally distributed AAA quality title for less than half the price of a retail game—is total OVERKILL
Costs $20 (but is 10% off preorder!) so $18 the 4 pack costs $60 ($15 per person, basically)
I want to get it, but if i can convince my friends to get it, i'll break it with the 4pack :D
...more details coming soon!
Payday the heist will be releasing in north america on Playstation network: october 18th
Because language translation is incomplete, payday has been delayed for release in none North America locations for play station network.
Because steam is universal, it has also been delayed until languages are complete.
... they've only had 2 delay weeks to deal with this already!
the gameplay in the trailer really doesn't look like anything special to me, just seemed like standard run and gun shooter. I assume that the game this will be compared to immediately is Left 4 Dead because of the coop FPS aspect, but that trailer doesn't really make it seem as interesting or challenging as L4D. What exactly gives it infinite replayability? do you know if the heists are randomized in some way to change the game significantly? it sounds like a cool concept but that trailer put me off :/
Edit- oh you put in more, nvm. Those features probably add a lot more depth but that trailer looked really boring. I like the price though.
Shameless bump because i've updated stuff and this thread is being buried by all the shit from battle field 3 and eve that has 50,000+ views... D:< rageface!
On September 28 2011 03:40 dranko wrote: The premise sounds good, but just from the trailers it looks really bland. Whether I get it or not will probably be up to my friends.
Found the E3 PS3 footage, its much more expository than the trailer (yea, the trailer sux imo!!)
This game has caught my eye in terms of co-op, because it actually sounded more depth than L4D series. I just hope it's actually hard enough so only the ultimate teamwork can pull through, L4D on hardest was still pretty easy.
so apparently the bastards at PSN have delayed the game, possibly for another 2 weeks... Hopefully they make up for it by including some of that promised DLC with the final release.
I don't really get the point of waiting so long to announce a shift in release date. They knew it before today so why wait till the last moment to announce a change? Just give a timely heads up like any proper company should.
Another source stats that the Launch Party was on the 6th instead of the 10th... while there is still no commitment on the release date.
At this point however, according to designer Chris Sturr: "Actually, all known issues have been resolved and are currently being reviewed for final certification. As with any new game engine there are things that pop up and have to be dealt with. Well, they’ve been dealt, addressed and fixed up."

Pretty much this. When I read about the game idea I got excited and then when I saw the game trailer I was mighty disappointed.
UPDATE: the guys at overkill @#$%ed up! They are releasing the English version on north America on playstation network, however because the translation is incomplete in other languages, the release for Steam and playstation network Europe (and anywhere else?) are currently delayed until translation can be complete...
Did they seriously think they would have this ready 2 weeks ago? and no one could do the damn translation while they were hashing out the bugs in between times?
Getting kind of silly with the constant literal last minute updates on release dates.
I don't mind if they push the game back but atleast do it like a proper company and announce it a good while ahead of time.
Last time they even had the game on "released" status on steam for a good few hours, literally announcing a change in release date AFTER the release date.
They should really just keep their mouth shut until they are actually going to release it.
I think it's the publisher that's screwing things here, let's be honest, game company don't do translation themselves, they are just a small 28 men company.
I'm sure Overkill software would be happy to release announcement early since it's nothing to do with their end. However it must be SOE that's preventing them from releasing any, people are talking about that is how they boost sales on other game platforms.
Similar practice has happened with other game titles, I wouldn't be surprise it's the same case here.
Preordered it on the day before the date of the first release. I'm really looking forward to this and i'm a bit disappointed of the delay but honestly it would be okay if it wasn't for such a silly reason. Some content compensation would be nice.

Ooh i don't doubt that it's SOE that's putting the presure on to make it an early PS3 release but a little honesty would go a long way.
No need to make up release dates and push them back, just announce that it's PS3 first and then PC. I don't ask them to release it faster or any platform first i would just like it if they stick to their release dates, whatever they may be and if they change, give a proper heads up.
I mean they even had the game on released status on steam for a few hours on october 4th, that's not proffesional is it?
Well I saw the Steam link in your OP but I don't use Steam so I have no idea how it works, So its going to be on the computer right? I'm really excited for this game as I still love playing L4D, the style of the game was just so much fun but I do love Zombies so may be biased.
If this game is actually as good as I want it to be, I doubt it. It has potential although. As long as its not super easy like how they made the Call of Duty veteran... CoD1, CoD2,CoD3, and somewhat CoD4 where so hard to complete on vet and then I got my hands on the new ones and I'm like "What the fuck? is this for 5 yearolds?" So hopefully this will be as hard as Expert was on L4D I could never finish all of L4D on expert but I was playing with bots.
If they keep this game a challenge I may be very interested in staying with it for awhile.

RAGE was so looking forward to this tomorrow...
Sounds like a trend among developers.
IT IS NOW DOWNLOADABLE ON STEAM YO! IN THEORY PLAYABLE ALSO!!!
Does anyone know if the amount of cops scales with how many players you are? Me and a friend tried to beat first map on normal without AI allies and we had a hell of a hard time.

Pretty sure the number of enemies does not scale with the number of players, you are meant to have AI players come along to help if you don't have 4 people.

We got all the boxes and then put in the codes to the vault, but as soon as you enter the wrong codes the guards are alerted. Are you talking about the sapphires in the vault, or somewhere else?

In addition to the power boxes, there is a secondary objective only available before the guards are alerted: there are 10 display cases, each contain a single sapphire worth $100k. They are distributed accross the upper and lower floor, and each case has line of sight to at least 1 other case.
In addition to the bonus of up to $1000k (experience) which is nearly a 40% increase to the $2500k (experience) reward for the mission; there is an achievement for getting all of the display cases called "Are those the blue ones?" that rewards between $1400k - 2400k (dont' remember) the first time you get it.
Keep a look out the power boxes aren't the most valuable thing to get at before the gaurds know your there!!!
NOTE: once the gaurds are alerted, you NO LONGER have access to the sapphire display cases!!! So this should be your priority!
Diamond heist is pretty funny. When the CFO gets tossed out of the helicopter through the glass dome me and my friends laughed at just how rude that was. I suppose we are all too polite to be career criminals.
We have yet to clear the bridge mission and the slaughterhouse mission.
When we saved the prisoner on bridge we decided to charge to the escape boat (we died before when we kept still at one point for too long). We thought we were close when we went around a truck.
Suprise, change of checkpoint, boat is about 150 meters on the end of the bridge, have fun boys. An infinite wave on a 150m bridge, constantly fighting your way forward isn't as easy as you might think as bulldozers and shields get thrown in just to mix it all up.
Slaughterhouse just dishes out a ton of damage and never seems to relent. The drill jams are also incredibly painfull considering how out in the open the drill is and how you can't cover the guy fixing the drill since bullet proof cow corpses give the AI amazing cover.
All of that said, great co-op game but i doubt it's all that much fun if you went at it alone. But if you can find 3 friends this is probably the best co-op game out there and it's certainly the best for the price it's at.

I've only ever been able to beat bridge with AI, lol, but it was normal difficulty ^.^ Beat diamond heist several times with AI, at least they know to stay put on not get seen kekekekeke, gives me time to go get all them sapphires!!! most games i join, everyone is like... BUM RUSH BANG BANG and i facepalm because thats $1000k lost or so
Yoyo, just downloaded this game and I'm at rep 81. Anyone playing this? Would love to get some steam friends and progress. World Bank on overkill is piece of cake and also Diamond Heist if you manage not to get found. Would love to progress with some people in the Slaughterhouse, Green Bridge (that heist is SO difficult even on normal settings!!) and of course the streets. Please do write me a pm here if you want to figure out something or just have some fun shooting some heads like crazy =)

I'd liken it closer to killing floor, with police instead of specimens. It's still worth it even if you missed the sale.
Hi Im sorry to bump this old thread but I think this Game deserves more attention.I bought it during the 2012 Wintersale and its a very thrilling co-op shooter with some tactical elements.I need some people to play with so pm me if you want.TL has a wide variety of gamers thats why I write it down here.Because playing with randoms isnt always good mostly because there are even some vets that dont know what their doing.(Going on the roof in panic room during assault, starting the heist in First world bank RIGHT when they enter the bank not looking around..,not shooting cameras,no placing of bags etc.) So it would be great if some people find interest in this game.
So apparently theres a sequel to this out on steam. I never played the first one because it looked like a poorly-polished ripoff of L4D. But now that im long done with L4D I might be interested in this coop shooter genre thing again.
Would any one whose played it like to share their opinions maybe? id like to hear some before deciding on a purchase.

The game play videos of the beta and various streams seemed interesting enough for me to pre-purchase at 30 bucks. From what I can tell, there's a skill tree (a RPG element if you will) that does seem to matter on higher difficulty missions. The missions seem varied enough in types to be at least worth the 30 bucks. I don't know, I'll post some more tonight when I get home and actually play it.

I thought the first one was a better version of L4D. Even with a small amount of missions available, there was so much more possibilities. Played the beta of Payday2, and doing it right now with the actual game.

Yeah, still, the only game you can compare the game with is L4D.
Played the game - the second one - for something close to 10 hours now. The first heists almost require no teamplay at all, except for the usual cover your teammates and make sure you're not being killed from behind. Four Stores and Jewelry Store give enough objectives to train for almost every usual actions while not feeling like a tutorial at all : loot some garbage (money, jewels), crack some chests, move the bags, control the civilians...
But the game starts to shine when the 2-3 days Heists come to play. A lot of team actions are required, it should be really hard with random pick-ups. Same thing for all those stealth objectives. You don't take a loss when you fail them, but holy shit, if you just added some difficulty on the maps, it's way harder and longer. By the way, if you have played the first Payday, the stealth objectives feel less random than before, since you have a time to plan, and it's still possible to react to someone spotting you before it spreads like pest.
The tech trees is pretty nice and adds more customisation than the previous system. The loot system is really random, and it hates me so much, 50% of the time it gave me money instead of mods for weapons, or masks. I can't wait to see if playing even harder heists with a good difficulty (very hard, overkill) will really give some more "rare" loots. After 30~ levels, it doesn't feel like it yet, even for my 4 other partners.
It's the same as the first Payday, if you have 4 people to play with, it's an awesome game. With random people, it's still good but can be frustrating quite fast.
On August 14 2013 06:30 Judicator wrote: Looks like a lot of coordination required on higher levels if you don't just read guides and want to figure out the puzzles yourselves.
Even with guides, most guards patterns are random, the objectives you need to search for move from game to game, even the random loot you can acquire in a mission can be missplaced. A guide will be good for one thing tho, knowing the maps. Some of them are huge when you have to stay low and silent, and you don't know where the fuck are the spawning points of an item you need to pick up. :D
Edit: something I forgot to mention, the assets are a really, really cool idea. For a bunch of money from the host (pretty cheap as long as you don't play on overkill difficulty), you can buy some advantages for the map to come. It can be an ammo or a health bag, but also the control of some video cameras, another access to the roof of a building, a sniper to cover you on a dangerous mission, the exact plans of a map, etc... It's a one time deal tho, if you fail the mission, restarting it will not give you those assets for free.
I also noticed that some of the very Harder difficulty multi-day missions have more escapes in them. For example RATs on normal has you escape from a parking garage, but the very hard version had a escape mission after day 2 where you have to hold out for 5 min for a helicopter to arrive.
Just hit 43 last night playing this game and loving it. Overkill isn't actually that hard if you all have mics or on certain mission have the skills needed (saw for bank jobs, shaped charges for Ukrainian job ect.) but rats and watchdog are still really fun and give you upwards of 250k. Never finished a framing frames on any difficulty, heard it gives good rewards. Would highly suggest this game. If anyone wants to play you can add me on steam my page is: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198024045228/
First game I bought with friends using Steams gift pack.. it's really fun to play 4. The game looks good in a weird simple way, it's challenging without being a chore, it rewards teamplay, it gives you incentive to play with the leveling and such progression... The fact that you can learn to stealth better etc and the fact that this is actually quite hard to makes it very rewarding.
Never played Payday 1, but would definitely recommend payday 2 to anyone who has a group of friends to play it with.
Overkill difficulty can be quite problematic from time to time, but more on longer missions. Framing Frame indeed is a really difficult one, finished it twice, with the hardest being a very hard + pro job - the last mission took us around 50 minutes, and we lost 2 or our members in the middle, while not having any medbag or ammo bag anymore. I understand why it's considered a really hard one for those not playing as a 4-man team.
I kinda hope they'll add some missions like Green Bridge or Heat Street in Payday 1. They were outdoor missions, but with a different feeling from those already there in Payday 2. You had to crawl your way in huge streets/bridges to escort a prisonner/hostage to one point from another. Actually, all the missions are a little bit too burglary oriented, but they are still hella fun. Overkill is working on more anyway, I just have to wait.
The game desperately needs more variety in heists and, if they're going to stick with the shitty crime.net interface, better/more granular filters for joining games.
I ran into something weird with Pro Rats Overkill vs regular Rats Overkill. 7 bags of meth on Pro, all of it stolen back + two more bags of money, then everything retrieved from the bus, and we got $1.12m base (no +cash skills). On regular Rats Overkill, we got 4 bags of meth, same deal, and got $1.16m.

Also set a new PR for Ukrainian Job: 25 seconds.
Well did you run into deductions? It's not always the base skill.

I agree with the diversity of heists. We have so much hold-ups but it feels like it's only hold-ups now. I'm sure the fact a good third of the missions are "farming missions" doesn't help either. Still, I'm confident they'll add some different heists, they did it in the first game, dunno why they wouldn't in the second one.
Fun fact for your golds on Rats btw, experience should have been way more higher in the first one tho.
Yesterday, I won a Framing Frame (pro job Overkill) without us being spotted a single time in the three maps. That wasn't that much money (only 6 paintings), but it's so rewarding to do it entirely. Big Oil day 2 too, but the kitchen seems buggy as hell, every guards going in it are stuck there forever. Too bad the keys of the plane weren't available in day 1, it would have been the perfect escape.
So I bought this game (PayDay 2 that is) with 3 other friends, but they don't game as much as I do, apparently. I've been mostly playing public games and am up to level 43 ish right now.
Any people here who have microphones and like to try to stealth missions? Guns blazing and all is fun, but gets boring after a while.
Edit: syth99, I've added you on steam (My alias is Jerome on steam I think).
The game is kind of borked right now, there's just no incentive to do anything but Rats Overkill to level up. All you do is just purposely fail parts 1 and 2, then snipe the bus, easy out.
Then Big Oil is like a clusterfuck because even if you stealth, you can run into the patrolling guard who sees your open door (to the lab), then its like have fun with that one guys.
On September 02 2013 22:59 Judicator wrote: Then Big Oil is like a clusterfuck because even if you stealth, you can run into the patrolling guard who sees your open door (to the lab), then its like have fun with that one guys.
Is this a modification to the map? Last time I played Big Oil, they didn't care about that open door. With a mastermind, it's not hard tho, with only 5 guards, you can deal with every single one of them while staying stealthy.
And I agree with disco, it's fun to do the missions stealthy. Just rushing the experience is kind of boring after some tries. Only one I failed at the moment is the FBI one.
We had a guard pat into that hallway, go alert mode. I pick him shortly afterwards, then camera tips us off. This is after 2 people on our team went into the lab. Like I watched the guard pat into it area from his outside route. Just dumb.
Picked up the demo yesterday with a friend of mine, we´ve been playing for like four hours. The same mission over and over again... it was so much fun! We´ve (almost) decided to buy the game, now amazon.com sells the game key for 19.99$ which is waaaaay cheaper than 29.99€. The question is, will the game keys from the US work with an european account? I know there are plenty of alternative (european) shops out there but most of them do not seem very... credible.
Well if anyone is still playing Payday 2, Big Bank just came out. Has anyone done it full stealthed yet? I'm finding it really impossible, there just too many loose ends/civvies/random guards coming in through elevators, etc
For those who haven't touched Payday 2 in a while some changes and rebalancing has occured.
"Skill changes: Spotter: spotter replaces smooth talker so you no longer neen to buy smooth talker to answere 4 pagers. Spotter aced allows you to buy the spotter asset who spots enemies for you in stealth. The basic for spotter is the same as aced smooth talker.
No more lucky charm, replaced by camera loop: you can interact with cameras so they wont spot you, lasts for 10 sec, 20 if aced.
Cleaner: everyone gets 1 bag each. Basic gives you acces to the body bag asset. Aced grants you the ability to carry 1 extra body bag in your inventory.
Inspire: it will now prioritize downed team-mates
New difficulty: Death wish
Death Wish has some changes to certain maps to make them slightly harder
Cloaker, spawns almost everywhere on the map from small vents and the sewer, he can down a player in one hit even with full armour, but they are easy to locate because they make high pitched noises when they are close by. Some of them will also hide under cars and behind doors waiting to strike you down.
New maps: Shadow Raid (stealth only) Diamond store, Election day, Go bank, 5 transport heists: Transport park, downtown, crossroads, harbor and underpass
New weapons: 9 of them are dlc
New weapon class: LMG, cant Aim down sights but has loads of ammi and a good fire rate and a decent DMG output
New weapon class: sniper rifle, can shoot trough walls and shields
New sniper rifle assets toallow a player to reach certain areas of a map wich was not previously available and provide cover for his/her team mates grenades (dlc)
You can now switch between singel fire and auto fire
Added melee weapons: knifes(dlc) fist and brassknucles which is a community item
Reduced gamesize to about 10 Gb down from 30
Major stealth changes: as stated every one can answere 4 pagers now, there are also more guards on each map and it is advised not to kill any unless you have to.
A Patrolling guard spawns when 4 suspicious instances of activity has been done. This is killing a guard, destroying a camera. Also there are some special rules on certain maps, on Framing Frame, if you touch the hand drier, then that counts as 1 activity. On big oil if you destroy 2 cameras then guard will spawn (on other maps it's 4 cameras). You also have to page dominated guards.
Infamy: when you reach reputation 100 and have 200 000 000$ offshore you can spend that money to become infamous, for each time you go infamous you get 1 infamy point that you can spend on the infamy tree. You can read what each infamy upgrade does in the menu. There is currently 5 infamy tiers I-V but there will be a total of 14 (XIV) when the system is complete you alse get a 5% XP buff for each time you go infamous
