Also hahahahhah@Princess' description. I don't know why you're around, there's no way for you to possibly think you can take a tax and much less do anything to the people who don't pay. Someone might as well app and say "Diamond Creators: We're going to make diamonds out of wheat through magical means and then create magnificent statues all over the server and eventually sell cars to the players."
Dunno, I thought Princess' description was pretty good lol
Also, it's definitely possible to tax someone, in either cash or items. Not difficult to do at all. Also, it's pretty obvious they can in fact do something about people who choose not to pay taxes (granted they will probably be very selective about this). The analogy isn't really a good fit at all.

Were you on the server @sprung? A lot of those factions classed as 'defensive' certainly have enemies and fight. Being defensive just means you are likely not to actively go out and declare war on anything that moves

Hop on TS for patch explanation, and all of the new balance changes. etc.
|
WTF IS GOING ON LOL
Kept getting teleported to random places
last place was with lava before d/c
|
Crap, downloading TS but I'll miss most of the fun...
|
|
Lol my game crashed after I got teleported out of the lava room.

My faction didn't get approved. Does any faction want ~6 members who are willing to raid or just defend/build?

I'm just as likely to create a car inside of Minecraft (Ninja could one day add a mod for it, but probably won't) as someone actually paying a tax.
And of course I was on the server but having so many people say they will only be defensive means less spontaneous wars, more boring and more expectations towards the rest of the aggressive factions (aka its THEIR fault if wars don't happen).

Dude, people have already paid taxes to us on the old server.
Not any major factions, but some of the smaller ones.

Current rules for joining Aiur Faction
+ Show Spoiler + I'll give you redstone and ask you to make a certain logic gate, if you can do that you pass essentially.
I'm limiting the amount of Contractors who can join this faction, probably 4 or 5. Everyone else in the faction will essentially be temporary workers, and in exchange for doing work for us the faction can protect items.
No attacking any other faction, ever, we've been given peaceful status so we don't have to worry about backstabbing/getting attacked.
Our alliances are to show who has contracted work from us.
Payment will be decided once we do a few projects and see how much people are willing to pay for projects.
No one is allowed to craft redstone torches in our faction. It's stupid and I've already shown irninja a method that allows a person to idle and spawn redstone torches (So no need to waste resources on it.), to which he replied with something similar to "redstone is easy to get so it's not a big deal".
We've requested a TS channel, but for now we are using Channel 4 along with FarmersInc.
PM if you want to join or reach me on the MC server.

So will the /f home command be enabled?

Reapers are recruiting!
What we would like: Active players who are skilled in the art of twirling candycanes and hurling axes into the skulls of enemies. You should enjoy fighting, but also possess a level of maturity. We don't want little kids who cry about dying and get other people killed in their antics.
PM me if you are interested.

Yay, nightwatch claimed the largest area with only 2-3 people :D.

How about this small temporary change?
First 48 hours of the server PvP is off, this way every faction will get the time to lay the start of a town. Since some people are on the servers only for PvP (which is fine, of course) war might start very early and hinder people from ever getting anything built.
PvP in all its glory, Minecraft is still largely about creations, and it'd be a shame if no one ever actually go about building things.
Also, the very PvP-hungry players might spend the time building something too, this would add to the servers overall feel since it'd be more "populated".
A second thing I am requesting is a map. Not a dynamic map, that would be OP since we could find people, but just a map of how things look right now. It could be very useful to find a nice location where you want to build your town, and used to (privately) mark out other peoples territories.

I don't know when this server will come up but will all the carebears wanting peaceful and defensive factions I would be very interested in getting all the aggressive factions together and farming them until they learn how to play.
Do what you will, but if you think you can sit in your walls and hide you have another thing coming.

I suppose I'll post a tidbit of drama for today.
Reapers claim responsibility for a minor raid on opposing faction Princess. Combatants: Reapers:2 (KtheZ, voloris) Princess 3: (names forgotten) Kills: 3 Losses: 0 Loot: Minor tools Comment: A minor raid upon Faction Princess, who, according to the OP, are also an aggressive faction. Sadly after we killed them there was no way to keep lowering their power; We were unable to access their chests. They were armed with stone and did not appear to have been expecting company.
EDIT: Raid on House Stark Combatants: Reapers: 5 House Stark: 4 Field of battle/Comments: Took place in House Stark Territory. We surprised them and they tried to block themselves in with stone, but we got in before they finished. We killed them and they respawned at spawn. Eventually for some reason they declaimed everything. Kills: 2-4? Losses: 0 Loot: Tools, Respectable amounts of iron/various other goods. Comment: These people seem to be mercenaries (aggressive maybe?) We let 2 people watch us (SuperMadBad? and Trololk?) and after the deed we killed them so they could get to spawn more quickly. (They obv had nothing)
Raid on Infinity Combatants: Reapers: 5 Infinity: 2 Field of battle/comments: They had a sky base at the time, so we were incapable of reaching them. Hopefully they fixed it by now. Kills:0 Losses:0 Loot:None Comment: We'll be back.
Raid on Sentinels Combatants: Reapers: 5 Sentinels: ? Field of Battle/Comments: They had a base in the ocean deep underground. Once we entered we found no way to exit. However they had minor claims so we could quickly find wilderness. Kills: 2-3? Losses:0 Loot:Minor tools Comment: This is probably the last time we will be able to raid this faction; Their base seems very well built; Must be tunneled into.
Generally in all our raids today we caught the opposing faction by surprise, thus losses were minimal. We also took out a couple people who were outside, randomly. I do not know who.
