The opening cutscene to the single player is hilarious- even for a superhuman space marine captain, that shit is just bonkers. Come on now. At least wear a helmet for gods sake! On September 07 2011 04:38 r33k wrote: MP is extremely imbalanced as it's 100% based on level progression. Team autobalance is based on number of people and doesn't consider anything else as a balancing factor. Thunder hammers/demon mauls instagib everyone but devastators with perks. There are no level brackets, which puts level 1 tactical marines with no perks or anything against level 20+ with everything unlocked to be virtually invincible. You underestimate the bolter and overestimate everything else. Everyone has the same hitpoints aside from very few perks that increase resistance/etc. A tactical marine with a bolter and the homing device perk, if played well, is one of the more crucial roles imo. The only perk I have a real problem with is the assault marine self-destruct-upon-death thing. I can kill people with hammers if I play it right, but then they get me anyway via corpse explosion. That isn't to say levels dont provide significant advantages, but calling 20+ enemies "virtually invincible," i'm not so sure about that.

Could have been longer. No, should have been longer! Five hours of SP gametime including a break to eat were disappointingly short. Yet I do not regret buying it and would buy it again. Tomorrow I'll check out the MP, even though I hate that leveling up shit in a Shooter - I mean, what is the fucking point of that, imagine you had to unlock units in SC2 by playing alot and doing weird achievements. As others have pointed out, melee could use a few more combos, but the Powerhammer is really a blast Oh, and while you can check your killcount in Steam, I would have loved that on my HUD :D

I really hope I get to see a dreadnought in it, but somehow I doubt it.

Just hit level 20 and got the plasma cannon- wasn't what I was expecting but still fun! The customization features are cool, too, and I've already got half of everything unlocked in very little time. Can you survive and retaliate before the second shot? No really.

I've been looking for another game to play, you can only play DXHR so many times lol. Basically, is it good/fun worth the $50 on its own or would I really not find all that much to enjoy?

Melta gun at close range is a shotgun, you're not supposed to survive it if it hits you head on, nobody is, no matter their perks. But if you aren't so silly as to be within insta-kill range, and don't move so predictably, and use grenades and terrain to your advantage, you'll be fine.

Assault Class whiteout Hammer vs Assault Class with Hammer. NOT FUN :p. I had one game whiteout any lag and it was friggin awesome, every Class was a blast to play (i joined for the first time and went on a 5:0 streak... Well, that changed later but still felt awesome :D). Sadly the next two games were laggy and that made it not that enjoyable :/.

Yes, the Melta gun is strong but you can beat players using it. I won with the default load out of a tactical marine against a melta gun user just by doding all the time and trying to stay out of range. The weapons you get from levelling have advantages but also disadvantages that balance them.

I'm a bit pissed right now. Don't get me wrong, when it works it's lots of fun, but I can't help but to feel like having payed for a beta-test... I hardly ever buy games, only the big ones like bliz, BF3 etc., and just thought "Why not, mp seems like fun, show 'em you like wh40k games..." and now this. Next THQ game get's pirated.

First the matchmaking is bugged, it was no simple first day problem. Lots of people are complaining on the forums. Also I wanted to continue the campaign and it crashes every single time. So if you're uncertain, wait to see if the problems get fixed. I'm a bit pissed right now. I didn't notice a single bug and the matchmaking worked fine, eventhough i got placed on a server where everyone had a red ping once. Leaving and finding another match solved the lag problem but i assume the first week or two, it will happen now and then since sadly they use their own servers instead of going the classical route with selectable dedicated servers like for example TF2. While i don't doubt that there are bugs - i'm a programmer, i know every program has bugs - i would assume only the minority has those, especially considering that you are the first in this thread to complain about bugs. IMHO it's a great game and worth the money more than BF3 or CoD. PS: Best fight in the game: Where you get the hammer and the jetpack. It feels like being a 3/3 blueflame hellion fighting a horde of 0/0 slowlings off creep. So imba - loved that :p

http://www.spacemarine.com/forums/warhammer-40000-space-marine/technical-help-bug-reporting Regarding the game features I will post either a longer post here or make a blog out of it. But in the meantime, don't get me wrong: The game is fun! As long as I could play it that is, lol.

Only the matchmaking takes pretty long and it's kinda a lottery if your ping is good or not... Else? It's a blast.... I played tha campaign to the point where you start searching the "superweapon"... Only the diffrence in difficulty/enemies is a little strange. Everything that is a "Shoota" is just annoying but no danger anyway, normal" Orks are no problem no matter what, the gits with shields/chainxxx hurt but also just die whiteout troubles.... And then Bosses which are like wtf strong in melee, I tend to just run and shoot at them until they die after several years of strafeshooting :p...

Btw, has anyone tried doing an execution move on the guys with the shields? I really love the animation of it. + Show Spoiler + Basically, you rip the shields from hands of the ork and bash him to death with his own shield :p I was pleasantly suprised by this, thought it would just be the generic finishing move.
