Those who have played the game since CS beta, are probably used to it because that was the only orientation available at the time (original coder for CS was left handed, or so I've heard). Others that did so after in the 1.3 - 1.6 era (or whenever right handed got introduced), were copying pros who did it for the above reason and eventually got used to it.
It's just a preference, some people prefer to have the right side of the screen free. You don't use your weapon model to aim, there is no actual difference aside from the side of the screen that is obstructed.

This. Really no wonder there's no american team that can compete with Europe. They could just let 5 random Global Elites from MM play in the next tourney, wouldn't make much of difference.

Well one of the explanations is that it matters if you're "right-eyed" or "left-eyed" person (terrible wording, i know). Let me explain. Some people have "stronger" right eye, meaning they see more or better on it, while other have on their left eye.
So when someone is holding a gun on the left side it can actually mean that their left eye is more dominant and gun on the left side doesn't obstruct their vision that much and they can see more.
I saw a great video explaining this much better, but i can't remember it atm. Gonna try to find it and post it later.
Made another de_train smoke video. This one shows two smokes that split A from T spawn to make a bombsite rush much easier.
I wish there was a better way (that doesn't rely on your view model) for throwing that second smoke but it's surprisingly tricky to get right and I haven't found an easier alignment so far.

I've found an easier smoke for the 2nd one but it requires +jump -attack binds.
Ah interesting. I've always dismissed jumpthrow binds because they usually differ from 64 tick and 128 tick servers. Is that the case for you as well? You create a local 64 and 128 tick to find out!

Ya that is true. I only play mm though so I guess it hasn't been an issue.

Easier second smoke? (from same position... maybe a little different, but works for me)
One more thing... When you throw the first smoke, its better to start aiming from left side of the right chimney (instead center of that chimney). That way, it fully smokes everyone holding this position But thanks for those smokes, if you throw them both, A site is super easy to take
