Probably true that I overplay at times, but I think part of it is that aiming in DM games is not quite the same as MM. I think I also get fixated on certain things that work and then over time forget about other important things, like keeping crosshair at headshot level. That said, I've been having more success recently by working on my prefiring. Prefiring long A, taking shots through smoke, playing a kind of Battleships-esque guessing game about where the other players are hiding and when they're going to peek. Much easier to beat another player on the draw if you don't always wait to have vision of them. Once again to be brutally honest, if you're not in the AK ranks yet just focus on the very basics : getting good mouse settings, crosshair placement, spray control and movement. Be sure to never be too exposed, aim at head level and try to have a good control of your mouse with consistent settings and no accel. Don't get frustrated, it will eventually improve, but I'll stress that you need to make sure you have good settings; nothing worse than an inconsistent sensitivity to get consistent aim.

Yeah, I have to second this very much. I think I'm MGE now with very on/off playing, mostly playing here and there with a friend or two to check out week's item drops. I do the basic stuff properly, communicate the basic things well and that's usually more than enough to do my share on a MGE level game. It's good to know a bunch of smokes for the AWP spots and maybe a few flashes you can use to break through certain spots, but that's it. I think I initially got ranked somewhere in gold novas without any previous comp CS background and I still felt silly how much better my raw aiming skills were compared to most players there. Once I figured out some CS basics and got my aiming mechanics adjusted to CS specific stuff, I was pretty much set for MG ranks already. Apart from mouse settings, I think the minimap settings are huge. Someone here probably has a good idea of a really smart setup, but most of all you want to cut out the zoom a lot. The default zoom shows you a tiny portion of the map. Meanwhile without reliable teammates communicating you usually want to see what exactly is happening in the other bombsite across the map or so. Once you know what's happening around the map, you can start working on when and how you rotate and flank and so on.

Ok ok I know it was a risky bet. Mouz can always perform even as underdogs but I actually felt 53% for NaVi was pretty nice so I went for them. NaVi lose 3-12 first half and come back 15-14. Mouz had 3 Galils and pistols. NaVi pin themselves down... WTF MY LUCK MAN.
