You have to keep in mind also that your MMR is really volatile as long as you are not placed. The system will find better matches for you once your are ranked.
So the whole cl_bob thing is irrelevant in CS:GO, they now count as 'cheats' requiring sv_cheats to be set to 1. In other words, you can't mess with this anymore on real servers. The crouch-stand-crouch thing without smooth animation but instant change of camera height was also a misunderstanding on my part, that's what happens when you observe somebody else in first person mode. It's not doable for yourself when you're playing.
It looks like a lot of things that you can tamper with and optimize (legally of course) in 1.6 and before isn't flexible in CS:GO but set to fixed values for everybody. Probably for the better, sort of like the fixed resolution of SC:BW, makes it fairer.
To me, those things just come across as alot of obscure tiny advantages that seperate "pro" or veteran players from newcomers, its an artificial learning / skill curve that really doesnt have to be there.
I mean if nobody can have those options, it really doesnt effect you all that much, whereas on the opposite spectrum you have people who had them vs people who didnt.
I never played 1.6 really competitively and these are things i certainly didn't know about that would offer an advantage (however small) i didn't have for absolutely no reason.
I think its a good thing cs:go makes the "ground an even level" for everybody to build their way up on.

It is built evenly. Valve did a great job of turning things that would give advantages in 1.6 and an advantage is source (but that was patched)like resolution into just preferences.
the whole buy ati/amd gtaphics cards for source because they did smoke badly thing was annoying
But seriously i am going blind - i cant see shit in this game. Back int he day i was fairly high skill css .... now i just do not know what im looking for.
The colour intensity thing helped but finding balance between gamma and seeing crosshair is hard lol.
less qq more pewpew i guess
EG Nuke (why the hell they moved the back passage ... anyway) ... vents bottom vent, i always get killed by guy in vent *after* i check it. I will poke, nobody there as soon as i step out to cross BAM. The other is d2 short A into tunnel ... headshots there are so hard now. Or inferno spotting int back of the site ... again so blind.

I had the same feeling, expect coming from 1.6. It gets better over time, but it does not dissolve completely. It helps if i sit closer to the tv, i have noticed. Also i will try to lower my resolution, but i'm not sure on that.
Been playing some ridiculous games as a silver, with a 5 stack. All of us are normally DMG/Eagle: 1. Deagle Squad - Deagles + nades only (proved to be too easy) 2. CZ Squad - CZ75 only (easier) 3. ScoutKnifeSquad - Durrrr. Harder, but still pretty easy. Difficulty x 3: noscope only 4. 14-0 - tryhard mode. Lose a round: surrender. If it's too easy we add a VIP. If VIP dies, we surrender 5. Pickups - can buy armor and nades, must drop starting pistol, can only use items picked up

I'm having troubles even getting my 10 wins to get ranked haha. I'm solo queueing and so far I've won 2 and lost 4-5 I think. Considering that matches take 45 minutes easily, it's going to be quite a challenge to get ranked at this rate.
After the games I can see that it's putting me with Silver Elites, I always carry my team (at least I'm the top spot on the leaderboard, usually by far), I use my mic to spot and give callouts etc. It's not easy when nobody else ever talks or understands the basics of the game (people don't guard the bomb when it's down as CTs, people don't rotate, some people literally camp at T spawn with AWP etc). I realize how common it is for people to just blame EVERYTHING on their teammates and I'm not trying to say that I'm like ten leagues better but at the moment I really objectively think I'm getting screwed by teammates. Guess I just gotta get lucky and get put into better teams.
Playing on EU and always having two-three people incapable of speaking/understanding a word of English and either leaving or griefing after 5 mins doesn't exactly help either.
Of course, I could just play with arranged teams more and get ranked that way...
TLDR: The 10 wins to get placed system seems pretty tricky to achieve as a noob that's slightly better than most silver players.
Even around MG2 most people still don't say shit ever, it's really annoying. You see people dying and need to judge from the radar how many they are, where they are and if they are pushing.. it's pretty hard. You should definitely try to play with friends though, at least one, it's way more fun and you can carry better. You could also try the TL:GO group on steam, it seems they play together quite a lot.
I forget where I saw them but there are console commands that makes it so u r minimal shows the entire map and stays orientated one direction. Makes seeing what's happening where easier.

Its not that hard, since your score also has an effect on your MMR and how you get ranked, especially in the placement matchs. Say you play with a friend who is always bottom-fragging and you are always top-fragging. You do all your placement matchs together. Well, chances are that your friend will get a lower rank than you, and most likely more than one. Same when you are already ranked for rank promotions and stuff, score does matter. So in the end, even if you lose, you wont lose much if you do well, and your wins will get you a lot of MMR points and you will be matched with / against better players.
