LOL gg. Emberwake race I totally failed hard and didn't bother after dying twice. Descent Champion used to be my best race 1 year ago so I thought why not try it (though the time sucked for me). #7 overall #1 Marauder lvl 23. Demi on the 2nd race, lol. If I didn't have to walk so much in the last 2 levels and actually found the way to the next one immediately I could've been top 5 overall for sure.

Sweep is very OP for leveling. Can use any 2h weapon which helps in races.

Demigod is "Demigod's Beacon" Golden Flame, which is a Torch with 20% block, req lvl 15. Chaos res implicit (17% for me), +10-20 fire damage to attacks, 13% rarity, 20% increased light radius (hooray)

Yeah I played the descent champions and it was my first one. Had no idea what I was doing but got level 15 and killed 3 (I think) bosses so did decently I guess. I tried templar and just did tendrils and flame totem xD, not knowing what zones to go in and all that probably helps because I assume you get different chests in them???

Yes, chests in different zones give different skills and items. Personally I got all skills I wanted except for Hatred (which I think now is too high level anyway?). I didn't know which zones are prefered though, except for that I somewhat know which monsters and bosses are in which zone.

After 2 weeks of playing again (didn't play since December 2013) here are my results :

Witch FT died ~30 in Normal Act 3 Slums to a corpse explosion strongbox
Marauder FT died ~30 in Normal Act 3 Docks to Voidbearers
Witch FT died ~38 in Normal Act 4 Belly of the Beast to LAZERS !
Shadow Arc/Lightning Ball died ~36 in Normal Act 4 Daresso's Dream to the Barkhul fight
Witch FT died 65 in Merciless Act 4 Lunaris Temple to Piety

I was greedy and thought I could tackle Piety with the same gear that I used against Cruel Malachai but I wasn't capped.

Next CHar : Maybe Ice Crash, Cyclone or Sweep or Lightning Ball but I'm not sure how I'll be able to withstand Piety and Malachai with little to no armour.

Play Sweep, it's fuuuuun! :D I'm playing Warbands right now, HC Malachai scared me off (before it got nerfed that is). Now I know the fight better and it got a bit easier, might be playing Tempest again at some point. Definitely not Flametotem though.

I leveled my first char on tempest with firestorm/flametotem, from cruel malachai and onwards I swapped from dual wands with anger, to wand + armorshield with determination which got me all the way to maps.

Well my first High level death was similar in a way. I was doing a 10 ghost tempest map and 2 ghosts had already run through a very large amount of magic mobs, and me being greedy zoned in like 2 or 3 times continuously trying to see if I could kill the mobs for loot when it was clearly too dangerous and ended up dying =[. GGG sure loves to tempt us with loot :D.

Died 4 times so far I think.
-1st death was day 1 (was new to all of a4 content) died on normal a4 piety fight.
-2nd death was the one I described above at level 81.
-3rd death was on a 87 cyclone marauder, died to a combo of corrupting blood and my stupidity (first I thought I had one more bleed flask charge when I didn't, and then I didn't log out when I should have simply because I never really have in the past, had plenty of time to log to character select but I just never really done that so yeah I just froze for a good bit and stared at what was happening before thinking 'I should alt + f4' which didn't work).
-Then I just died at lvl 50 last night trying to level another character -_-, was a strongbox with explode and exile. Of course I get lag when the box opens, the exile happens to be flameblast, next thing I know box is exploding and im standing in his flameblast when Ive been clicking to run away the entire time, zzzzzzzzzzzz. Pretty stupid that you just have to use smokemine when opening them because the lag makes shit like that possible.

Hey exiles, I'm trying to do a build similar to Nugiyen's low life incinerate but as a life version. I'm not gonna be able to afford his gear as he has Shavronne's and Prism so i was thinking maybe being more tanky would balance things a bit.
his version Low life inc
probably the best route would be to go towards marauder and get some more hp and defense nodes and not venture into ranger as much or just skip some of those
would something like this this be in the right direction?

So I'm going to do some sort of chaos damage flame totem build but I am wondering if it is worth using the consuming dark dagger. Infernal mantle is a no-brainer but I am not sure if going 100% chaos damage is actually strong or not. Was planning on doing something like this build: http://tinyurl.com/po7meqb [why this new TL layout thingy won't let me make a hyperlink qq]
If I went full chaos dmg from those 2 items I would be able to spec out of the fire pen nodes but I would also be losing some damage from the wheels (Heart of flame and celestial wheels). Is the fact that my damage will be 100% chaos damage and not fire damage be beneficial enough to lose out on some 'paper dps' or is there no real benefit to chaos damage???

Less mobs resist chaos, and those that do resist chaos resist it less
on the other hand, there are no ways to interact with chaos resistance via cursing or penetration (which is very powerful). In general, chaos conversion is more of a reflect-mitigation tool than anything else. However, with the removal of the thornflesh bloodlines mod and since you are using totems anyway, there's essentially no benefit there.

I'd avoid it, in other words. But you can do whatever you want.

You'd probably take the point out of celestial punishment since you won't be applying status aliments, but the other ones should still be worthwhile even without the pen. Focusing on crit with assassin mark could be an interesting alternative to penetration curses so that you're not losing too much damage.

Yeah I was just wondering if there was any real benefit chaos damage but sounds like there isn't really. Infernal mantle is probably still really good aside from some fucking amazing rare but the dagger can definitely be replaced by something better so it probably is best to just have the 25% chaos instead of trying to be cheeky with 100%.
