It's very fun though if you enjoy seeing your own progress, but yeah for most people I'd advice checking out builds and guides on youtube.
The difference is how much content is in the game and what you're expecting to accomplish. Clearing all four difficulties and maybe doing a few maps was the absolute peak of beta. Getting to maps is not only significantly harder and longer path, but there's practically that much content again afterwards.

Even experienced gamers missing stuff like using 4L, or messing up their skill tree absolutely, or not understanding why changing gear is so annoying (ex: unequip glove with dex, can't use their skill gem anymore). So if using guides will help you get to the point where you can enjoy the depth of PoE, I think it's worth it. Though you lose a bit of the self-discovery part of a first playthrough, it's better than getting completing turned off the game
Gonna play this league and I feel this way even though I was a closed beta player. I haven't really played since the atlas was added and the game is just completely different now. Almost a decade of slapping content together has turned the game into an absolute abomination.

Just saw, the remove only tabs can be hidden away in stash. Really feel that GGG is making quality of life improvements each of the recent patches. The Vulcan is properly a big one. but i can not tell as i get a new laptop today, so hopefully no more lag deaths delirium was pretty awful for me that way. My big wish is that they make a season tab, that lets you store all the stuff you find each new league.

yeah.. It would be easy money for them. I guess a tab that works with every league might be a bit generous but something would be nice

I was watching a Ziz vid on HC tips, where he talked about dropping bleed suffix immunity by just using a Corrupting Blood immunity jewel instead. Isn't that kind of risky? I feel like you can get seriously chunked by something like Knitted Horror bleeds and just die. Do you just have to log / portal out when that happens? I'm wondering if it's safe to do something or if anyone has had this setup and can comment if it's risky or not

Just Corrupted Blood immunity does sound scary. Tarke has talked about getting away with Corrupted Blood immunity + Mender's Wellspring + any life flask, which sounds less scary to me.

Tbh I only ever use corrupted blood jewels when I fight Sirus.

No idea what I'm going for this league. Slam seems like bait. Brands feel overnerfed. I played enough mines and cyclone recently...
There's probably a decent build with Frost Blades Tribal Fury/Ancestral Cry, but it's a meh starter and the single target is likely a problem. OoS Archmage might get nerfed and is annoying to play. There's always the spellslinger chaos stuff, or classic Bane, but they kinda suck at bossing. TR/CA. Lacerate Glad. Bow bleed? Minion stuff?
I simply want something that's good for clear, a league starter, will scale to deal with the new boss and new lab. How is that so hard to find?!

I am definitely going 2h and slam, probably not Zerker because it is irritating to upkeep rage on anything but cyclone or some other super fast attack skill. So probably Chieftain and fire based slams and Infernal Cry or maybe some Jugger. I want a character that will not die each time someone looks at his direction.
|
Yeah, I'm a scrub so I can only play beefy characters and I like playing whatever is 'new' to keep things fresh and interesting.
So some form of Slam Jugg or Chieftain probably.

I agree that creating a build that satisfies my needs is much harder since they buffed boss hp & resistances. That patch I still don't really agree with since it destroyed many non-meta builds since having anything sub 1 million dps against 80 million hp bosses feels awful IMO. I might even go Cremation this league since it seems to have pretty great boss damage and Chieftain is tanky (+ it helps that Sire of Shards is kinda BIS and the cards easily farmable on SSF).

Speaking of Sire of Shards Chieftain would molten strike and the new wildfire jewel be good, was pretty unsure if the rework made it better but think it could work Sire.

Uhh, rather not because it's an attack and Sire of Shards doesn't really have a lot of weapon damage. For attacks Beltimber Blade / Grelwood Shank can be used for example.

I will try slams and warcries but not as a league starter. I will wait a few weeks, so I can see check a good slam build.
I will probably league start with a Cold DoT build (Vortex and Cold Snap. Or maybe Vortex and the new cold brand).

HoP and Cospris are two builds I've wanted to try for a while. HoP could work decently in trade, and some warcry might help its clear. Or I can OoS archmage into Cospris with only 40-50 respecs, maybe simply start mines. Then remember how good mines are and never reroll, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

This week is always the hardest to get through. I'm almost only interested in playing the new league with all the media and hype but its not here for days and days more.
I finally got around to finding out the only side quests I actually need to do for skill points so I can get through the acts fast. hopefully, I can start mapping before my desire to play starts to go down this time.

Hmm I wonder if Arcanist Brand with Ice Nova & Frostbolt could be a thing. Might not work though, it doesn't for totems but brands are different.

Brand damage source is considered to come from the player, which means it will be affected by leech and reflected damage
I guess it should work but time will tell.

Yeah, Cremation Chieftain was fantastic for me in Metamorph SSF - easy to farm up the cards in A8 Lunaris, and absolutely absurdly tanky/forgiving when I'd farmed up Kaoms and a Soul Tether (didn't manage to get a Corrupted Soul Glorious Vanity, sadly) with Vaal Molten Shell, Chieftain leech + phys taken as fire, increased recovery etc. Here's an non-end-of-league PoB I saved when comparing gloves at L95: https://pastebin.com/R87y9Dde (Only problem was it wasn't fantastic clear speed for e.g. Breach domains due to the double-casting, but it was fine for mapping in a non-Delirium etc scenario).
Thinking I'll probably give Fire Trap Chieftain a go this league after a few Heshla/Goratha-inspired caster runs to library. Need to sort out a low-level/racing-y lootfilter (FilterBlade has more support for leveling currency / items etc now, right), and for the first time used some of all that master favour I've never touched and imported a compact hideout layout for the top level of the Brutal Hideout.

Manifesto is out.
Massives changes all around. Crit multi nerfed globally, dual wield, archmage, clusters, facebreaker, all nerfed.
Can't wait for 40 pages of patch notes tomorrow!
|
Cluster jewel nerfs looking much lighter than I feared, unless those numerical changes turn out to be a real killer.

Nerfed Hegemony's Era.... wtf. Was staff crit really going to break the meta =/ I guess this will force me to craft a weapon
VMS change isn't too bad for armor based builds. I'm surprised Block came out unscatched, it'll be one of the best defensive mechanics next league
I'm really unsure about that Impale notable. For single hit skills like ground slam it seems good. For EQ I'm not sure. If you hit with the initial slam, you will get a much weaker impale. If you purposefully only hit the enemy with aftershock, you will be losing some dps.
summoner / chaos build (ED / scourge arrow poison / toxic rain) / cold DoT seem untouched? feel like they will be top dogs esp since unaffected by crit nerfs
