If you count few months as close then yes :D Also they been saying Open beta is close back in June :D Also desync is so bad for so many people currently that I don't see much future for this game if they don't really start fighting that. | ||

People play crappy free games that are worse than old 10$ games, i dont see how people would stop playing a free game that beats 60$ Diablo 3 in many aspects. | ||

FFA prevents you from going into parties. Desync prevents you from playing at all, alone or in party. If that is not a game killed I don't know what is. | ||

Haven't had a desync or lag relative death since 0.9.4 nearly half a year or so ago, maybe my net is just baller or people are way exaggerating the effects of it. Aside from insane speed flicker strike spam that is, which is broken. | ||

Desync has been getting worse for me with each patch. My last melee character was a claw+shield acrobatics shadow that used viper strike and lightning strike. I either had desync (mostly as missing enemies when I should not), or bad lag although F1 display always showed ping at 50 (that would show as my character doing an attack animation and enemy getting damaged 1 second later). Normal play with viper strike character is to hit each enemy once or twice and move on. But since I didn't know if I hit him or not until 1 s later when I was hitting my 2nd or 3rd target I would often need to go back to hit the previous targets again. It is hard to describe how irritating and unfun this becomes after hours of playing. In the end the character that was almost never in danger (in HC) got killed by desyncing while fighting ruthless ledge boss. One moment I was full health, next less then 33% (low life), I clicked to use my instant recovery at low life flask but next moment I died. So no, desync is killing the game for me. I won't even go into what was happening anytime I used Whirling Blades or Flicker. And you can read similar stories on forum almost each day while ingame chat is always talking about desync. | ||

I personally like it but I am all for giving people options to decide for themselves. Also I haven't played in a while and the combat feels much smoother than before. There have been quite a few open weekends now though. Best time to try it out is during these times. You're probably better off just waiting around another month or two (hopefully) for open beta at this point though. | ||

TPPK'd after a Shako dropped that they all went back to town and TP'd back before they ran for it, after he hostiled. Also known as a fake story. Nobody did runs with everyone already hostiled. So I'm not quite sure how he kills everyone (in hardcore mind you) as a high level item drops while they're all hostiled. | ||
