I think it needs to be condensed but not removed. This isn't a commonly found (enough) system for there to be zero help text.

It would make more sense to have some sort of tutorial at the start about how important it is the constantly chug flasks and how to do it.

There are plenty of non-minion Witch builds. Don't pigeon hole yourself ^_^

Wow, I hadn't come checked the thread in a few days. Thanks a ton for actually coming on TL and giving us updates! Flask looks a lot better, though I agree that the help text could be removed and put into a one time popup or an npc explanation.
Really appreciate developers interacting with the community, i'm sure the game will get better and better. Good Luck!

There already is such a tutorial and his name is Hillock. Maybe as a compromise just remove the help text from all tiers of flasks except the ones you start with.

Registered for this a while back, still waiting on a beta invite. I have a question regarding the system requirements for this game, as university classes start soon I'm going to be without my tower for the next 8 months. How taxing is this game on the machine?

A lot of people came to PoE from here as the game way hyped a lot here when it was entering Closed Beta for anyone that managed to get invited (opposed to friends&family CBs that other games do).
As for this picture, it always bothers me that I have to calculate the exact amount of HP I get per second. Can this info also be added somewhere? Maybe at the end of 1st line, like "Recovers 88 mana over 6.5 seconds (14mp/s)" or "Recovers 88 mana over 6.5 seconds (14 per sec)"

Just made it to Merciless Act I last night. So far I am absolutely loving this game; as I have posted before I'm playing a dual-wielding axe marauder currently level 52. I think once I complete this act and start doing maps I'll write up a full beta review on my experience. I'm going to be sad when my marauder gets wiped in open beta; but hopefully they'll release act III and my new marauder can experience a new set of challenges!
The last boss in Act II is insanely strong in Ruthless. Granted my lowest resist was lightning at 48% and having 1300hp, the first laser shot would 1-shot me. Something I noticed about this boss is that it fires it's laser in 2-ways: 1) You can see him engage his laser arm, so you run away; easy enough. 2) He doesn't display his laser arm getting engaged / its the same arm used as another ability and just fires instantly. #2 is what killed me the most.
The effective strategy I developed was to run around the boss in circles until I was certain he was using an Ice / Spawn arm, then I'd run in and get my hits in. My sustain was strong enough to overcome these but the 1 shots were too much.
I have lots of other comments for this game but I'm going to save them till I feel my experience is more rounded and complete!

That sounds ugly. One of the two is fine, in my opinion. You can put too much information in a tooltip, especially if it is redundant. And i think the total restoration is more interesting then how much it restores per second.

Sounds good Razith can't wait to read your review. I haven't even seen the act2 boss yet is it as bad ass as you make it sound? I really gotta get this game downloaded again.
I'm going to have to go with Simberto on this one. I feel the amount it recovers would be a better choice than recovery per second.

Damn devs turning up on gaming forums, actually fixing complaints. Time to buy a 10$ beta key

Do you plan on displaying the left over number of uses on the flasks? I sometimes have difficulty to see whether i have 1 or 2 uses left. I can see how this might annoy some people though, so maybe make it possible to disable via the options menu. Keep it up!

Keep it up! number of uses you can gauge by looking at the flask and seeing if it is empty or not. You don't need to mouseover to check out the number of uses

Don't want to spoiler it too much but yes, artistically its awesome, and it is very difficult, but not impossible. Definitely gave me that "Woah how the fuck are you supposed to do this?" feeling when I first encountered it, and a great feeling of accomplishment after over-coming it. Don't forget to bring some portals, and stay on your toes!
On August 23 2012 14:55 -Archangel- wrote: This is where you go farming to get some lightning resist equipment.
Well I didn't want to do this so I used 'game mechanics in an interesting way'. Spoiler for those who might consider this an exploit:
+ Show Spoiler +Gain a level so you have 0% xp to your next level, then deaths don't mean anything and you can place a portal, attack boss til death, take portal, drop another, attack boss to death etc., and no loss of xp because you won't de-level. I must say though, I do try and fight the legitimate way, I just don't want to suffer XP losses and rerunning pyramid if I screw up lol. 60% to death was on 1 life!
Funny thing too is the first reward in Ruthless is a ring you can pick with +24% resist to one of the elements, so naturally I grabbed the lightning and it rolled nicely!

If you don't run 75% light resist with heavy amounts of armor/hp you're going to be in big trouble on the boss in Act 2 Merciless.

Good thing my ring brought me to 75% lightning resist, and my build is centered around high armour / hp / resist / regen! Overall I built my marauder tanky with sustain coming from passive hp regen, but as well as life leech and life on hit. LoH + cleave = bring it hordes of monkeys!
The weakness in my build comes from heavy hitters, especially when my hp gets low and I start getting stunned and can't swing. I'm thinking of getting the 'cannot be stunned but cannot evade' passive, since my evade is 9%.. but I need to know if that means my evade will be 0% in the calculation of a hit / miss from a mob, or if its going to make every monster hit me guaranteed! Obviously don't want the latter; gotta run the numbers later.
I'm also looking into getting reduced stun threshold so I can cleave through mobs that are just stunned all the time.
|
Cannot evade means monsters cannot miss when attacking you, just like Resolute Technique. Your Evade would be 5% at high level, but not getting stunned usually more than makes up for it. That, and it comes with the awesome +15% Attack Speed keystone right next to it.
