Hey! I found this new sport called LEET and thought I'll let you guys know. I quess it isn't played too much yet but who knows what future brings.
What is leet?
"LEET is a fast paced team sport in which two teams of four active players each try to score points against one another by shooting the ball at a target located 15 feet high under organized rules. Players use a LEET stick to shoot, pass and catch a LEET ball keeping it in constant play and scoring points. The team with more points at the end of the game wins." ( http://www.playleet.com )
Here are some youtube videos regarding the matter:
now if they just include lava and lions it will be an epic sport.. are there already things like word championships and is it broadcasted on a tv channel or something?
Wait, they actually trademarked leet? seriously? Even if this "sport" becomes the most popular game in the entire world I wont touch it because of that.
Looks fun - though good production value, heavy guitar, and cool industrial urban underground hideouts will make a lot of things look fun. Kinda looks similar to lacrosse. Either way, judging by the youtube channel and website, someone is shelling a lot of money into it. I feel like this isn't the last we'll see of it.
LEET Tip Of The Week "Never let fear determine who you are. Never let where you're from determine where you're going." Dewey Bozella
The website is hilarious.
Oh and apparently if you catch a pass from a teammate with at least one foot in the "mental zone" you are awarded a "mental shot". I love this, endless hilarity potential.
I don't get the rules. Once you have the ball in the stick, how exactly is the opponent suppose to stop you? Or are you not allowed to move from your spot or something?
it would be kind if OP can be updated with some of the basic rules, like how freely can you run when you have the ball in your stick ? can you shoot from everywhere on the field ?
Looks like a cheap attempt from a company to attempt sell merchandise, and I'm not very impressed. There also seems to be no way of stopping a goal once you've received the ball. So no, I don't see this ever getting big.
Also, they actually trademarked "leet"? ._. That's just...lame...
Well it's called LEET right so it must be good right? I wonder where these guys got the name from, urban dictionary maybe? I wonder who put so much money into this sport.
btw. I guess we will see these arenas pop up in all major cities now... lol

It looks lame, whether it's original or not, haha.

Basketball has an equally undefendable goal but it is a very popular sport, possibly even harder to defend since people are physically able to jump to a 10 foot rim fairly easily.
I'm not so sure about this though, just kind of seems like a gimmick by some company to make money. Seems like a mixture between Lacrosse and Basketball.
It would probably be pretty fun though, I do like games with a "catch-style" racket

basketballs are harder to shoot than this leet thing, easier to block and fouls and goaltending exist.
After watching the video, it does seem a lot like street lacrosse. I agree, it does look like it'll be fun to mess around with buddies, but the game just seems too (strategically) offensive.
I'd rather see Ultimate Frisbee become more mainstream.
What a waste of a good name. Leet should be a sport shoot where you fire people into the air and shoot AWPs at them like in that counter strike map l33tsk33t shoot. I'd pay to see that, not this baby quiddich stuff.
If players are allowed to smack each other around with the sticks, and become a gladiatorial style basketball/lacrosse, then it will take off. Right now though, I think the prospects are bleak.

what is the troll ? my english is too bad to understand that joke
Agree with the other comments. This is lacrosse without a goalie. Definitely do not see it taking off. Sure it's probably hard to throw the ball, but eventually people will get really good at it and just hurl it into the goal at all angles

After surfing through the site a little...I get the impression it was a real sport that just failed to start up and is still waiting for that magic publicity to tip it over into mainstream.
Whow, this looks horrible. Good luck hanging up those hoops at 5m height at your local playground when you're 10 years old. Not to mention all the broken windows from beginner level play. Not going to work.

I think that has potential, except, try getting sponsors for a sport where if the other team plays bad or gets unlucky, they get shot. Hell, try getting players for that. "Hey, wanna play a game where we throw you into the air at lethal heights, then fire hunting weapons at you until you land? Don't worry, if you survive a few rounds, maybe you can be on the ground and shoot!"
The one good change that I can see from this and the previous version is the changing of the rules with regards to the losers. Either that or we're gonna start to see the thinning out of shitty teams before the sport can even pick up.

hahah this reminds me of a game that a teacher in my high school made up we called it psyco ball and it was easily the most popular game in our school. In stead of the net they hadin the video we used a hockey net under basketball hoops on either side of the pitch and it was full contact. In the basketball net was 5 points in the hockey net past the goalie was 3. We didnt allow feet and had a similar passing to european handball. It was a lot of fun.
people saying that players would get so good at scoring that it would be too easy, well the same could be said for basketball scoring percentages of good players is quite high, this is obviously going to be a game with a lot of scoring and lots of "goals" similar to basketball.
So that argument just sounds very haterish to me and your just grasping at anything to say its sucks. (not that i think this is necessarily a good idea, thats just not a valid argument as to why it sucks)

Shooting that thing ain't so easy. The stick has and empty pipe in which the ball is. You have to time your shot right for the ball to roll just in the right place of the stick before/as you throw. If you wanna pass or shoot quickly after you are passed you have to bounce the ball from the bottom of the pipe. After a few throws I was also starting to feel where then ball is in the stick from the weight changes so it's not just about time.
I bought my sticks at my local gas station "ABC" in Finland. Don't know if they sell them anywhere else. Price was 15 euros for a stick.
looks like something that could take off in the college campus scene but I really can't see this becoming mainstream. I see SC2 becoming mainstream quicker than this.
I think it is so easy to shoot the ball if you practice it a lot what the game gonna end up is 1 guy shooting 3 pters all the time and winning cuz there really is no way of blocking. I mean what is the rule like for blocking?

It's just the ball game :D, and not only the aztecs, but pretty much every native in mexico pre 1500 played it. This seems like a ripoff of exactly that, and i don't consider ripoffs to be leet.
Sorry for the late introduction to this thread; given the amount of discussion I thought you might like to know what the situation is. Leet is a real sport. It's not being played en mass but hopefully will be soon. It is part of a new reality television show called Voittajajoukkue (The Winning Team) which will be shown on Finland's largest commercial TV channel, MTV3 (note, this is no relation to Music Television). The qualifying tournaments for the show are being held in May and June of this year and the teams that win their qualifiers will compete for the national championship on the Voittajajoukkue television show.
Before anyone asks, yes, I'm involved in the project
No, there is no Finnish translation but the term isn't as used in Finland as elsewhere in the world.
The stadium is being built at the moment in the city of Kotka (which is about a 120km East of Helsinki). The animations you've seen are pretty close to what it is going to look like so it's a pretty interesting project as you say. No sport has ever been played in such an environment before; just one element which makes Leet very different to playing lacrosse.
