Oblivion wasn't -bad-, but after having played Morrowind, it wasn't up to par. It implemented a lot of nice things, though, like item physics, NPCs being able to use doors, while consolidating the admittedly cluttered skillsets of Morrowind. I don't like how Axe got added into Blunt, but it's nice that Short and Long blade skills were combined into just Blade. My opinion is that there should be maybe only a few weapon classes for melee, like Big, Medium, and Small weapons, with Big being all 2H, and small being all daggers and such, but now that I say that, it seems a tad weird. Maybe if they made 'hybrid' weapons, like a bow with a sharpened front, or a sword with a dagger attached to the hilt, or even an Axe that has a Scythe blade on the back, training in multiple weapon specialties might be more viable than it is now.

It's true it wasn't bad, and it was still a good game compared to most others. But you hit the nail on the head, it wasn't par after Morrowind, it wasn't half the game it could have been. Main problems in order of severity were, in my opinion -Loss of the atmosphere, lore, & mystery that make Morrowind so special -Lack of any risk / reward for exploration due to the point below and the lack of unique items / weapons -Level scaling, my god the level scaling (Morrowind had leveled lists, god knows why they had to change it -General dumbing down (quest compass, loss of skills & complexity, lack of depth to writing) I really hope they get things right with Skyrim, but it's all about the consoles now so it's pretty unlikely. Looking forrward to your next update!

Looking forrward to your next update! I agree with basically everything you just said. But, I must admit, the Quest Compass + fast travel helped a lot. I actually explored a lot more in Oblivion that i thought it would, because of the ability to see locations before you marked them on your map, when walking around. 'Ooh, an Aylied ruin! ooh, an old fort! ooh, a campsite! ugh, a mine?' To be quite fair, i didn't read the game manual(lol), and i didn't find out about Fast Travel until my friend did it when i was watching. MIND = BLOWN. But I use Steam for Morrowind, and This Article makes it seem like Skyrim will be a nice bone thrown to us TES3 dogs, whilst still appealing to those TES4 noobs. also, I'm working on the next Journal Entry as i keep myself busy with the thread :D

+ Show Spoiler + As I arrived in Balmora on this rainy day, I reflected on how 'special' that trip was. Dunmer women aren't terrible in every aspect. Now that I was looking around, I noticed that this city was at least three times as big as that miserable little Seyda Neen. This meant more places to explore, but I had to talk to this Caius guy before anything else. ![]() moar pics+ Show Spoiler + After looking around for a while and talking to some strangers, I made my way to the South Wall Cornerclub, where this man I was to meet was rumored to hang out. After a brief talk with the owner of the establishment, I followed the directions he gave me to Caius's small home. Was this really his house? For someone who is regarded so highly by the people who processed my release, he must be pretty important, especially if the Emperor himself asked that I be sent to him. As I walked in, it seemed like some shirtless old man had broken in and made the place his Skooma Den. However, this old man was the Caius I was to report to. After I gave him the package, He asked if I was ready to be admitted as a member of The Blades. With this man being in The Emperor's service, I thought it would be unwise to refuse. He then gave me orders to go and make a name for myself, and to gain some experience in this land. I was about to protest, but he handed me 200 Septims. That was enough to make me willing to do a little work around this Dunmer-infested town. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Having 200 extra gold pieces in my pocket was a nice thing. After I noticed that all of the town guards were filthy Dunmer, I went and raided the Guard Towers for anything of value. Unfortunately, there was a lack of items useful to me, but the town merchants would be happy to take these weapons off of my hands. I used the money from Cosades and my liberation of those items to buy myself a Chitin Mask Helm, to completely hide my skin from the outside world. Afterwards, I went to The Razor Hole, and was greeted by a friendly Nord. I sold him the weapons I had collected from the Guard Towers, and purchased a Steel Wakizashi, an improvement over my current Steel Shortsword. ( out of order D: ) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As I walked around town with my new gear, I noticed a suspicious-looking Redguard lurking outside some store. He was near an alley. I slowly pulled out my weapon, and walked up to him. As he turned, He chuckled, and insulted the way I looked. I moved closer, weapon in clear view. His eyes widened. As he drew breath to call for help, my new Wakizashi had its first taste of blood as it ran straight through his throat and neckbone, allowing only a small hiss of air to escape his lips. The shopkeeper would be happy when she found his corpse. ![]() ![]() I felt hungry and tired after my shopping spree and the incident with the Redguard. After walking around for a bit, I came across the Lucky Lockup. When I walked inside, I noticed another Redguard, but only one, and no Dunmer. I went up to the proprietor, and purchased my meal. It wasn't much, but it filled me up. Feeling a little more relaxed after the Mazte, I rented a bed upstairs, despite the Redguard downstairs. I locked the door, laid down, and fell into a deep, comforting sleep. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I woke up feeling refreshed, and walked outside into the cloudy morning. As I looked around, I wondered to myself, "What will I do today?" ![]() Poll is in creation.

I might start using an alarm clock in the mornings soon, if it gets popular. I already konw that there will be a few days this summer before i go off to college where I'll be busy pretty much all day (this saturday(SC2 tourney) and this sunday(Mayhem Festival) are confirmed delay-dates), but considering how many people are starting to get into this, I know that I'll do whatever I can for this thread before College starts this fall.
