I feel like starting a new game of Morrowind, for those of you who know what it is, and this will be a sort of live-report about what's going on, where readers can give their opinions on what I should do, or just tell me what they would like me to do. Screenshots will be provided throughout. This will eventually include Tribunal and Bloodmoon content.
Note: there will be some time, at least a few minutes, between events because I want as many people as possible to put their opinions into a matter. This doesn't mean that i'm not vigorously f5ing after I post a new poll, though :D
Also, please discuss your decisions on polls, as it bumps this for more people to see. All votes are appreciated!
One more thing. On multi-poll questionnaires, please only choose one option overall. Thanks!
If a poll result wins only by a small margin(1~3 votes) and doesn't have at least twice the votes as the second choice, poll time will be extended. If poll results stagnate after one or two extensions, winner will be chosen without regard to votes given to other choices.
Official This will be the 'main' area of the thread, and probably will be the largest post in it. If there is an update to this, I will mention it in the thread. If I have to pass the baton to someone, I will still keep this as up-to-date as possible.

So far, these are the confirmed quirks and their definitions/effects
Thief - Must steal three items from someone, without hurting them, when entering a new population center. Murderer - Must kill one NPC when entering a new population center. Theft of items/corpse looting is forbidden. Serial Killer - Must kill two NPCs when entering a new population center, with a premeditated weapon and location. Theft of items/corpse looting is forbidden, except for a predetermined item. Hydrophobic - Must avoid contact with water at all costs, unless under effect of Water Breathing. If outdoors and rain starts, must find a 'dry' place and wait for rain to pass. Hunter - must kill at least one beast creature when entering a new Population Center, eat said creature(s)'s meat(s), and sell their hide(s). Drunkard - Must have alcohol once per day. When entering a new population center, must stop at the inn(if possible), purchase two alcoholic drinks, consume them, and get into a fistfight with someone. Looting of bar fight victims is disallowed, except for alcoholic drinks and money. Must turn themselves in after fights. Racist - biased against a specific race or two, must commit a crime against one or the other whenever entering a new Population Center Nyctophobe - Character must be in a well-lit area at all times. Cannot travel at night without a light source. Looter - Must steal three items each from three different people. Same restrictions as thief. Must search entire house, and coins cannot be left behind. Can pickpocket for items.
Character is racist primarily towards Dark Elves, but also hates Redguards more than most people. If neither of these races can be acted upon, character will act upon himself, because he is a Dark Elf.
Fargoth was outside the office when I walked out. He might be friendly!
I'm supposed to bring this package to this Caius Cosades man, but do I need to right away?
I have a lot of stuff with me, and there's a tradehouse in this town. Maybe I could unload my loot, and get some good equipment for myself?
It's a lighthouse! Maybe I should look around inside, and see if anything interesting is there?

I had just arrived in Seyda Neen after my release, and was feeling a little mean. I walked around town, getting to know the place, when some s'wit Dark Elf gives me a funny look. I just couldn't stand it, after being locked up for so long with that damn Jiub. I then took out my dagger, and proceeded to stab him several times, until I noticed that he had fallen dead. Nobody heard him cry for help.
After I took the money from that Dunmer's coinpurse, I decided to talk to that nice-looking Fargoth guy. It turns out that I had come across his ring while I was looting the C&E Office, so I gave it to him, considering how useless it was to me. Then he suggested I go visit Arrille, the shopkeeper. I had already planned on this, so I went along to the tradehouse.
When I got to the tradehouse, all was fine, until I looked around. Arrille was married to some Dark Elf scum. I went upstairs to look around, and was even more disgusted. There seriously was another Dark Elf, and a Redguard up there. I grudgingly went back downstairs, did my buisness, and got out. I made sure to buy some extra lockpicks, along with my shortsword, halberd, armor, bow, and arrows. I still had a small pile of money left over afterwards, but it didn't feel the same in my coinpurse, knowing that what I had spent would likely be used for Arrille's wife.
After the horrible time I had at the Tradehouse, I decided to check out the lighthouse. It seemed like a nice enough place from the outside, however, when I got inside, I was greeted by another Dark Elf. She didn't even give me a proper greeting, didn't offer me any food or drink. This was unacceptable. I slew her with my newly-bought Steel shortsword, and stole the three measly coins she had from her robe pocket. I then noticed she had a locked chest, so I pulled out my lockpicks and got to work. One of the cheap things broke after the first few tries, but the second pick got the chest open. Inside were a few more gold pieces, and a steel dagger. I decided to hold on to the dagger, as it was slightly better than the one I took from the C&E Office, which I would leave somewhere safe when I got to Balmora. I then looked around the lighthouse, taking all of the gold coins I could find. That woman wouldn't be needing them, or the large book i found upstairs. I took the book and some of the lanterns from the lighthouse to Arrille, and he gave me a nice amount of money for them.
It was now late at night, I needed somewhere to sleep. I found an extra bedroll in the lighthouse, so I took it with me, and slept by the big fire atop the lighthouse.
I would travel in the morning, I said to myself as sleep's embrace overtook me.

As I arrived in Balmora on this rainy day, I reflected on how 'special' that trip was. Dunmer women aren't terrible in every aspect. Now that I was looking around, I noticed that this city was at least three times as big as that miserable little Seyda Neen. This meant more places to explore, but I had to talk to this Caius guy before anything else. moar pics+ Show Spoiler +
I know, reposts, but still.
After looking around for a while and talking to some strangers, I made my way to the South Wall Cornerclub, where this man I was to meet was rumored to hang out. After a brief talk with the owner of the establishment, I followed the directions he gave me to Caius's small home. Was this really his house? For someone who is regarded so highly by the people who processed my release, he must be pretty important, especially if the Emperor himself asked that I be sent to him. As I walked in, it seemed like some shirtless old man had broken in and made the place his Skooma Den. However, this old man was the Caius I was to report to. After I gave him the package, He asked if I was ready to be admitted as a member of The Blades. With this man being in The Emperor's service, I thought it would be unwise to refuse. He then gave me orders to go and make a name for myself, and to gain some experience in this land. I was about to protest, but he handed me 200 Septims. That was enough to make me willing to do a little work around this Dunmer-infested town.
Having 200 extra gold pieces in my pocket was a nice thing. After I noticed that all of the town guards were filthy Dunmer, I went and raided the Guard Towers for anything of value. Unfortunately, there was a lack of items useful to me, but the town merchants would be happy to take these weapons off of my hands. I used the money from Cosades and my liberation of those items to buy myself a Chitin Mask Helm, to completely hide my skin from the outside world. Afterwards, I went to The Razor Hole, and was greeted by a friendly Nord. I sold him the weapons I had collected from the Guard Towers, and purchased a Steel Wakizashi, an improvement over my current Steel Shortsword. ( out of order D: )
As I walked around town with my new gear, I noticed a suspicious-looking Redguard lurking outside some store. He was near an alley. I slowly pulled out my weapon, and walked up to him. As he turned, He chuckled, and insulted the way I looked. I moved closer, weapon in clear view. His eyes widened. As he drew breath to call for help, my new Wakizashi had its first taste of blood as it ran straight through his throat and neckbone, allowing only a small hiss of air to escape his lips. The shopkeeper would be happy when she found his corpse.
I felt hungry and tired after my shopping spree and the incident with the Redguard. After walking around for a bit, I came across the Lucky Lockup. When I walked inside, I noticed another Redguard, but only one, and no Dunmer. I went up to the proprietor, and purchased my meal. It wasn't much, but it filled me up. Feeling a little more relaxed after the Mazte, I rented a bed upstairs, despite the Redguard downstairs. I locked the door, laid down, and fell into a deep, comforting sleep.
I woke up feeling refreshed, and walked outside into the cloudy morning. As I looked around, I wondered to myself, "What will I do today?"
I walked into someone's house, thinking that I could ask them about where to find some faction to join. The woman inside suggested a few, and House Hlaalu sounded like the best bet. But then, the woman started getting a bit out of hand. I smacked that Redguard scum, and she hit me back. I drew my sword, and sliced her through her weak little spine. She stood for a moment, eyes agape in astonishment, and then fell over dead. I shook my head as I noticed that she had no money in her pockets, and left her in home. While walking up to the Hlaalu meeting hall, I wondered what the work would be like, and how I would be recieved. The Dunmer woman inside the doors greeted me, and I asked her about joining House Hlaalu. Oddly enough, she obliged almost immediately, and I was now considered a member of the House. When I asked her about work, she gave me a strange look, and asked me to repeat myself. When I did, she gave me a helmet, and bade me to go get some secret orders from House Redoran officials in Ald'Ruhn, by posing as the Redoran soldier that I sounded much like. I decided to take the Silt Strider, and when we arrived in Ald'Ruhn, I was greeted with a giant dust storm. I hurried into the shelter of a building, and asked a guard where 'Skar' was. After being pointed in the right direction, I jogged to the entrance, put the special helmet on, and walked inside. Finding my way to the House Redoran area wasn't that difficult - I just looked for the section that had the most doors. After getting the orders from the Redoran lady, I went deeper inside the Redoran area, until I came upon the private quarters of a mage. After buying some spells from him, I looked in his back room, nd picked the lock on his closet. I didn't find much, but it would be enough when sold to justify the theft. I also took almost all of the books from his bookshelf, and slipped out before he knew what happened. When I left the Redoran House, I looked around on the lower area of Skar, and went into the shops there. I sold the clothes to the clothier, and bought a Mortar and Pestle from the alchemist, since I had come across quite a few random potion ingredients aling my travels. I snuck into her back room and stole some of the ingredients from there, made a few cheap potions, and sold some to her. The rest, I kept for myself, for later use. Having spent enough time with the Alchemist(she smelled like chemicals, I didn't want to stay around too much longer), I went into the Enchanter's store, where I was able to sell the books I had stolen from the Redoran wizard. I also was able to buy an enchanted Dwarven Shortsword, Last Wish, for a relativemy low price. After I left the shop, I found out that It was nearly broken. I took it to the blacksmith outside Skar, and she fixed it up pretty nicely for a Dunmer. I then sold a silver claymore that I had no use for, and bought a new helmet. It weighed as much as the Chitin Mask helm that I was currently wearing, but provided more defense and headroom. After I put it on and walked around a bit, the dust storm didn't seem like as much of an issue, however, it still would get into the chinks in my armor. I walked into a bookstore, and pulled one of the recently liberated robes over my shoulders, and looked around. The store owner greeted me, and trying to seem inconspicuous, I browsed through his wares. I didn't see anything in particular that I liked, but I sold him an expensive book that I had forgotten to sell to the Enchanter. On my way out, I noticed that he wasn't looking, and opened up a chest near the door. It was full of the expensive scrolls he wanted to sell me, so I quietly grabbed them, hid then beneath my robe, and moved on. I was feeling tired, and wanted a place to stay, so I looked around until I found the Ald'Skar Inn. I paid for a room, walked downstairs, and ate some of the ingredients I had leftover from the Alchemist. I woke up in the morning, walked outside, and was greeted by yet another dust storm. This time, I had my robe and new helmet on, so it was easier to get around. I walked up the Silt Strider platform, paid my money, and rode to Balmora, where I was greeted with a rainy day. Going straight to the House Hlaalu meeting hall, I took off my helmet so I could be better recognized. The woman I was reporting to was pleased when I handed her the orders I had obtained from her. She was so pleased, she even promoted me. I was feeling pretty goodabout myself, so I asked if there was any other work I could take care of. I was asked to liberate some alchemical recipies from an Alchemist in Vivec, and was told taht I would be well rewarded. I went on my way, but before going to the Silt Strider, I looked around. I had too much stuff with me, and needed a place to store it. I was able to get atop the roof of the Fighter's Guild, and left my items there, knowing that rain wouldn't be able to damage them. The Strider ride was rather enjoyable, but when I got to Vivec, I was greeted with a massive building, partially sumberged in water, and a large thunderstorm. I looked upwards to the top of the Canton, and all I could see were rainclouds. A thunderbolt on the distance jarred me out of my temporary hypnosis, and I proceeded to walk across the bridge that lay before me. I made my way to the Lower Waistworks of the Canton, and found the woman's shop. I bolted in, grabbed teh recipies, and ran out before she even had time to react. I hid the scroll behind a tapestry, and a guard came up to me, asking about the theft. I paid the fine, watched him walk away, and retrieved the scroll from its hiding place. Eager to see waht this place had to offer, I went to the very top floor of the Canton, and walked around. There were two blacksmiths up there, and both had relatively poor selections. One of them was a Redguard, however, so I grabbed a handful of arrows from the shelf before walking out. I made my way back to the Silt Strider, eager to get back to Balmora, which was becoming much like a new home to me. I tiredly walked to the Hlaalu meeting-hall, gave the alchemical formulas to Nileno Dorvayn, and rented a room at the Lucky Lockup once again. I pulled off my armor and robe, left them beside me, and fell asleep quickly.
As I woke up from my slumber, I decided that I wanted to go far a walk. In my walk, I stumbled upon a small Imperial Fortress. Inside, there were many Imperial Soldiers. One of them in particular was very rude to me. When he turned to face me again, I put my fist in his face, and in the confusion, slipped away unnoticed. I laughed to myself as I walked back to town, and to the House Hlaalu building in town. As I walked into the poorly lit building, I was tasked with the assignment of convincing a Vivec merchant to stock guar hides bought from House Hlaalu. After an annoying trip, the alchemist in question was easily swayed, and I was on my way back. Unfortunately, while I was gone, someone had murdered an important House Hlaalu member. Guess who had to figure out who did it? I eventually got the maid to talk, and she pointed me towards a certain Dunmer of the Council Club, the local Cammona Tong hangout. After stabbing him multiple times in the chest and taking his valuables, I was given 1,000 septims for my work. I was starting to have more money than I knew what to do with. I then felt a little tired of working for House Hlaalu, so I walked myself to the house of Cosades. He gave me the task of getting information from some trainer in the Fighter's Guild. He sent me on some odd errand to get him a puzzle box from an old Dwemer ruin. It wasn't that much trouble, since I found the room where the box was in rather easily. After killing the bandit boss who had the box, I gave the little thing back to the guild trainer, and recieved a package of notes. After giving these to Caius, I was asked to get even more information, but from an Orc in the mages guild. After almost falling down the dimly lit ramp the had, the Orc lady was more than willing to help, but only if I got her a skull from some ancestral tomb. After stumbling around in the dark, killing ghosts and bonewalkers, and not afraiding of anything, I felt around in the darkness for the skull the Orc wanted, and eventually was able to find it. PIcking it up, I felt my way back out of the crypt, and got onto the Seyda Neen Silt Strider to Balmora. Upon giving the lady her damn skull, I was given another package of notes to give to Cosades. As I drudged back up to the old man's house, rain started to come down, forcing me to go even faster on my weary legs. I almost fell through the door, handed Cosades the notes, and left without speaking to him. I stumbled down to the Lucky Lockup, paid my ten gold, and dropped onto the bed, falling asleep instantly. + Show Spoiler +

Gonna go with Redguard. I prefer straight-up melee combat, and Redguards are quite adept at that. I don't like Khajiit or Argonians because of their armor limitations.

I've got a lot of time until late August, when college starts. I hope we can make lots of progress by then, and if not, I'll pass the baton to someone who shows that they can continue the story of our brave adventurer.
I remember getting pretty far in the game, and during a save where the message comes up on the screen "Please do not turn off your X-Box", I accidently kicked the power button with my toe.
Although last time I played I had it pretty streamlined: Step 1: level/quest a bit Step 2: aquire/fill grand soul stones Step 3: crab merchant abuse Step 4: Imba permanent enchanted gear for restore health, jump and levitation

You should have seen my Wood Elf. He had CE bound helmet, gloves, boots, cuirass, and battle axe, along with CE health and fatigue regen :D He also had about twenty armories of weapons across Balmora's rooftops
On my run through I think I missed my chance to get the boots of blinding speed =/ Hopefully I'll run into the chick again or she got killed by something or another and I'll never find her.
Enchanting was so OP in Morrowind... carry around a dozen+ rings of damaging spells and machinegun them off like an uzi, that and they recharged naturally as well.
Alright, our adventurer is GigaFlop the Dark Elf, i'm creating a poll for class selection. I will only list premade classes to keep this simple, and will go by total number of votes, rather than %, because this will likely require more than 12 choices.
Let me break the game for you by telling you how to get to level 100+ in less than a day (I played this game endless hours as a kid):
1. Go to Gorack Manor in Caldaria. 2. Go upstairs and steal the Orc Armor set from one of the boxes (they don't report you or get mad when you steal stuff in Gorack Manor). 3. Go to the Scamp and sell the armor to him (the Scamp is in Gorack Manor as well). 4. Go to the Mages guild in Caldaria and steal the master's alchemist set (they can't see you steal it, it's in a secluded area). 5. Buy tons of alchemist ingredients from the alchemist at the Caldaria mages guild, buy and sell them back to her and it will increase her stock of the ingredient permanently (there was an optimal combination, but it's been so many years that I have forgotten what it was... it shouldn't be too hard for you to figure out, it's the one that sells for the most) 6. Make fucktons of potions with your fucktons of ingredients and sell them to the scamp. 7. Rinse and repeat with more ingredients every time and you will eventually have a near endless amount of money very quickly and can thus just train your way up to level 100... in which there is a trick to make ANY trainer be able to train you in anything at the highest level.

Makes the game boring if you're actually trying to play it legitimately though.

What would he need to do for ADD or Redneck?
I dunno, get distracted by shiny stuff, hunt animals and eat lots of rat meat, maybe some other stuff. Be creative.
so ADD would work a lot like Treasure Hunter/Looter? and would Redneck be renamed to Hunter(for political correctness), and to be more specific? Because Redneck might imply heavy drinking, which we could put under Drunkard, who would need some alcohol every little while, and would start fights in inns at towns visited.

that would make this very short and uninteresting D:
If you make intelligence potions they sell for even more money as its exponential. I think the combo was ash yams and something I forget, but in Sadrith Mora they sell them both in the temple. You can do the same exploit to have a 100% enchant rate. Also I would just make your own class. Its a shame I lost my discs to this game, as well as my saves when my other hard drive died.

There isn't a free set of Orc armor in Balmora that allows you to make you initial investment, nor a free full set of masters alchemist gear, nor a perfectly fine alchemist to buy ingredients from, nor the Scamp in which to sell all of your potions quickly to. So no, you can't do it in Balmora.

I don't really remember what the best potion to sell is, all I remember is that it can be done in Caldaria as explained.

I thought about doing something similar to this, but I wasn't sure how to do it. I wanted to transcribe the contents of the in-game journal, but this format is cool :D

At the end of this, whenever it will be, i plan to make a giant compilation of the pictures and events, so i can nostalgia the hell out of people. It will end up being a small story, i guess :D

that would make this very short and uninteresting D:
To prevent this, how about a self-imposed 5 training per level cap as in oblivion?

Bethesda hasn't ever been very good when it comes to models. I mean look at peoples' noses in Oblivion...... And don't get started on animations. Their water has always been spectacular though.

Fuck I loved Morrowind so much, buy a custom 100-100 lockpick spell at the mage guild (with like a 2% chance of it working), have waterwalking at the start anyway, so it's all good, get a few levitate potions or whatever, stack the fuck up on mana pots and go to Tel Fyr and spend like 5 minutes breaking into that cupboard with the 40% magic resist armour that was pretty much better than glass.

The Mod I linked includes MGE, but also lots of new textures and objects (trees, grass etc) to make the most of the added draw distance. Comes with a nice installer and .NET GUI too.

amirite? there's always some way to get a super powerful items before you're supposed to in Morrowind, even though it can be insanely difficult. unlike in Oblivion, with leveled loot... *shudder*

Wouldn't say uber-powerful, but certainly a lot better than it should be at your level.
Also, there are mods that takes away leveled loot in Oblivion FYI In fact, it takes away the entire system of items and npc's and beasts being +/- X of your level. Really sweet
^ Is the best mod of the game imo (Oblivion that is)
The white woe sword in balmora is in the eastern watchtower. on the top floor on top of a drawer. there is a guard nearby so I would recommend a cheap telekinesis spell/scroll/potion. get behind something (i think there was a pillar nearby), jump up and down, while mashing the grab button. If you have no probs with stealing and are using long swords, it is a pretty strong sword. There is also a pretty easy way to obtain a daedric weapon of your choice early in the game. Kind of a 'hidden' quest. Though that makes combat ridiculous easy.
edit: just played morrowind again a few weeks ago, so my memories are pretty fresh. =)

leveled npc's and items, along with the annoying combat system, was what made oblivion an 8/10 for me. The marksman skill, however, was very nicely reworked, but it didn't make up for the melee system. Only 4 ways to attack. Side to side, or on one of two diagonals. I like having multiple attack options for TES3, even though I use 'always use best attack'. All of the combat in oblivion seemed dumbed down. It would end up being hack-and-slash while moving around and using potions when with bigger enemies. :/
You guys really like the Racist Obligations, don't you?

Long Blade is only 20, compared to 45 for Short Blade. I'll check the stats on the item and see if it's worth stealing for either combat use or decoration :D

It's one of the best games ever created. Even in vanilla-version, which is what i'm using, you get used to the graphics and oddities, and can be completely absorbed in this game. After I finish this, I plan to install the graphic + sound overhaul linked earlier, look for an updated character texture pack, and play a better version of Oblivion.

Oblivion wasn't -bad-, but after having played Morrowind, it wasn't up to par. It implemented a lot of nice things, though, like item physics, NPCs being able to use doors, while consolidating the admittedly cluttered skillsets of Morrowind. I don't like how Axe got added into Blunt, but it's nice that Short and Long blade skills were combined into just Blade. My opinion is that there should be maybe only a few weapon classes for melee, like Big, Medium, and Small weapons, with Big being all 2H, and small being all daggers and such, but now that I say that, it seems a tad weird. Maybe if they made 'hybrid' weapons, like a bow with a sharpened front, or a sword with a dagger attached to the hilt, or even an Axe that has a Scythe blade on the back, training in multiple weapon specialties might be more viable than it is now.

It's true it wasn't bad, and it was still a good game compared to most others. But you hit the nail on the head, it wasn't par after Morrowind, it wasn't half the game it could have been.
Main problems in order of severity were, in my opinion
-Loss of the atmosphere, lore, & mystery that make Morrowind so special -Lack of any risk / reward for exploration due to the point below and the lack of unique items / weapons -Level scaling, my god the level scaling (Morrowind had leveled lists, god knows why they had to change it -General dumbing down (quest compass, loss of skills & complexity, lack of depth to writing)
I really hope they get things right with Skyrim, but it's all about the consoles now so it's pretty unlikely.

Looking forrward to your next update!
I agree with basically everything you just said. But, I must admit, the Quest Compass + fast travel helped a lot. I actually explored a lot more in Oblivion that i thought it would, because of the ability to see locations before you marked them on your map, when walking around. 'Ooh, an Aylied ruin! ooh, an old fort! ooh, a campsite! ugh, a mine?' To be quite fair, i didn't read the game manual(lol), and i didn't find out about Fast Travel until my friend did it when i was watching. MIND = BLOWN. But I use Steam for Morrowind, and This Article makes it seem like Skyrim will be a nice bone thrown to us TES3 dogs, whilst still appealing to those TES4 noobs.

You can go to the Alchemy shop in the nicer part of town and steal a lot of really good alchemy equipment to keep or sell. If I recall, it's the same shop where you have to steal a diamond for the Thieves' Guild

I can definitely do at least one journal entry/morrowind day per day when i don't have obligations that day. I might start using an alarm clock in the mornings soon, if it gets popular. I already konw that there will be a few days this summer before i go off to college where I'll be busy pretty much all day (this saturday(SC2 tourney) and this sunday(Mayhem Festival) are confirmed delay-dates), but considering how many people are starting to get into this, I know that I'll do whatever I can for this thread before College starts this fall.
I installed Morrowind few weeks ago but didnt had much free time to seriosly start playing. Im really noob and the world seems huge so can anyone give me some pointers to create some cool and easy to play character

Just pick what you find interesting, it's hard to fuck up so hard you have to start over. I'd wager it's near impossible. It's generally better to specialize or do a hybrid specialist (ie battlemage) than it is to do a jack of all trades though.
If you want something easy go down the fighter route. Redguard is the obvious pick as you get a bonus to long blade, and long blade is one of the better weapon classes in the game. I wouldn't recommend a pure mage the first time through, they're a bit of a pain in the butt early on.
But pick one armor class, stay away from medium armor, get at least one weapon skill and then you can go with whatever.
I know about the modding of Morrowind and downloaded the most popular mods for Morrowind. Galsiah char development is included.
So Redguard fighter is easy to play. I picked the sign that gives endurance and personality so far but is there better options? And about the skills restoration is a must for a fighter i guess? Any other skills i need to take like alchemy or smth similar ?

Conjuration never hurts when you're a combat character. Find a 'summon bound X' spell so you can have a free, high-powered, weightless backup weapon.
also, I'm performing the tasks from last night's poll. Just to keep you all updated.
Headbutt the guard? Joke, I don't know, never played the game.
Anyway, would be awesome to do something like this in ustream, with the broadcaster talking and starting polls where the viewers can vote what to do. The broadcaster could be a narrator or the person himself, whatever he prefers.
First of all im sorry to the OP if im hijacking his thread .
I made a Redguard char. Its a male fighter with strength and intelegence as main attributes. My picks as main skills : block, long blade, heavy armor, restoration, conjuration and minor skills : armorer, speechcraft, merchantile, security, atleticism. Picked the lady sign which gives me a boost in endurance and personality. This is a OK char for a noob like me i guess?
So Im in Balmora now and did few quests for the Fighters guild about cave rats and need to find the puzzlebox next. I stole the sword of white woe with invisibility potion . Got some trouble with the heavy armor because it leaves me not much room for my inventory ussage.... now im off to the next 2 quests for the puzzle box and egg cave which I've done before.
So I got a few questions. Is it wise to join every guild in Balmora? Im a fighter so im in the fighters guild but I can join mage and thieves too or should i stick with one only. When i need to join the houses like hlaalu or some other one? My last question is about the graphic mod that improves the graphic quality. So my PC is kinda terrible and it barely runs the original Morrowind with no troubles so would i get some troubles if i install it?

Yes there is a easy way. Buy a invisibilty potion and steal it when the guard is not looking at you
if my memory serves me correctly, you can hide behind the cupboard and shield yourself from sight from the guards and still see/steal it.Only a slither of the sword will be visible; and it was quite pain staking on Xbox to get it. (because I suck with controllers)

If this goes well, I plan on doing that, because it would be -much- easier and faster. But over a period of at least a month, of course, because of this game's longevity.

There are some guilds that conflict but you'll be told when they do, you basically get a "Do the quest for X or do the quest for Y" thing. I don't really want to spoil it in case you do go on and join X and Y, but if you want specifics just check the UESP wiki. As for houses you can only join one, for a fighter I would lean towards Hlaalu or Redoran.
Graphic mods is a bit of a vague term, depends on what graphic mods. But if you can barely run it as it is I wouldn't recommend any, maybe get Better bodies and Better heads for a visual improvement that doesn't slow the game down. I modded Morrowind quite heavily and I get 20 FPS in Balmora, despite being able to max any other game.

The way I always stole the sword of white woe was to steal something upstairs first, so that when he started walking back down I could take it without being seen.

God damn it; I can't find my morrowind CD for PC anywhere and as a result I'll be going to the shops as soon as they open to buy a new copy - thanks to this thread!
Not sure what type of character to make this time...I was a redguard last time and I remember having a full medium armour set that was red in design at some point...followed by that crazy shiny aesthetic set you get from killing a guard in some city...I forget.
Anyho...not to derail your thread slightly, but your opinions on a sneaking/thief character? Will also be doing thieves guild questline this time... I just love stealing EVERYTHING and selling it :D

Will keep up to date with the thread, you have inspired me to play again good sir.

I can't even remember what expansion it was. I found the guard though; huge rush of nostalgia haha. I don't remember having much trouble killing the guy..."Gaenon" or someone to that effect in the same city was ridiculous.

Also, just a status update here. I'm writing the journal entry right now, and it's gonna be more text-heavy than the other ones. I'm also not going to break it up into sections, rather, It's gonna be a continuous story. The pictures will be in a spoiler underneath the journal, though.
Time to make a new poll. Also, some images were left out of the Journal 3 gallery because of the TL image uploader's max 25 ups/hr. I'm also gonna get something to eat.

Yeah I think this was the way I did it. Takes a while to find the spot, but it works. Though it looks like you found a sword that is just as good or better.
Ah what the hell, couldn't resist any longer :D Made a Nord this morning. He got Marksman and Spear combined with high speed and athletics which means outdoors i can win vs anything slower than me without even getting a scratch because i outrange them like threefold with a spear. For close quarters I got Shortblade. So from the weapon settings he is like a germanic or viking warrior (seriously why did bethesda remove spears, one of the most iconic weapons of warfare?). Right now I am just doing factionless work or for the fighters guild, because I don't want him to get politically involved yet. He is a Nord after all and with the long history of wars between Dunmer and Nords he's rather careful how to act on this foreign soil. Got a nice 100 endurance now at level 4 thanks to spears, medium armor and the lady birthsign, he will have beastly hp soon. Did switch to light armor now to make the most out of the spears. All my spare money goes into training sneaking and longblade and blunt to get a x5 to strength and agility every levelup if my money allows it. I forgot where the scamp with 5000 and the crab with 10000 septims is so i had to sell the sword of white woe for 1500 I am gonna roleplay him as afraid of magic. No magic use except for soultrap and open lock scrolls and all the teleportation spells if i am away for enemies to cut some repetitive walking. Anyway, love this tread, thanks for inspiring me to play this amazing game again :D

Thanks a ton for doing this, haha. You made me dust off my old GOTY copy from the xbox and put it in. As outdated as the graphics have become (and how damn frustrating the hit/miss system is hahah), the game is still so much damn fun. It seems that I'm gonna be unable to get much, if anything, done today. Rest assured, though, that I'm going to get as much as possible done after this concert today - if I can keep my eyes open. I have a feeling that the heat + lack of cheap water will not be good...
And I want to play it again. I found the game box, but can't find the cds, downloading right now. Boots of blinding speed, here I come :D
For modding: The one mod I can't play without anymore is Galsiahs character development. Removes the stupid leveling a skill just before the level up in order to get x5 on your attributes. Also removes the need to get endurance up as quickly as possible.
Apart from a lot of the graphical improvement mods, morrowind comes alive is one I really like too.
Sometime later today, I'll get the journal written and a new poll posted.

That sounds about right. I remember I was neglecting my MC-raiding duty when Oblivion was released, and that was during Vanilla. I was playing / modding Morrowind up untill then, and haven't played it since I got my greasy paws on Oblivion.

While this is not my thread, I might actually consider stream something like this from September. I had an idea of streaming random games, because there's always been a dozen or two people watching my stream even if I just leveled in WoW and I had several sources telling me that it's nice seeing something non-SC2 games every now and then.
I've never played Morrowind past the first few levels. I have two guy ideas - either an orc or a dunmer - both being military leaders before getting imprisoned for backstory. But if I ever played again I would consider playing as a chick, because I vaguely remember something about being a bride in a nightmare. It's been a good while I played a noble character (psychologically, not background-wise).
It would probably be a very plot driven since I barely know anything and most of that is just from reading and not actual playing. And knowing how much time I'd have it wouldn't be frequent and it could easily never happen. Keep me bugged in PMs if you really are interested. Especially once you see my chess stream go online in about four weeks or so as that will be the time I'll have access to my desktop PC again.
One thing that I remember and I would love to do for sake of RP is gathering enough raw ebony to have a full set of ebony armor tailored for my character personally and then enchant them on my own. I've always been much for self-creating equipment.

Inspired by this thread, I'm starting a game soon! Not entirely sure what character to play though - either I'll take some light-armored magic user, or a light/medium-armored thief thing. We'll see as I go along.
Edit: Hrm, that's annoying. Crashes on startup due to some of the Bloodmoon files. Trying to reinstall now, checking if that helps.
Editedit: Reinstalling it works. I guess installing Tribunal after Bloodmoon had it overwrite some dependables Bloodmoon needed. Reinstalling Bloodmoon corrected the overwrites.

I would recommend light armor over medium. Even with the official plugin for adamantium armor, medium armor is somewhat lackluster in my opinion. While adamantium is cheaper and easier to get than glass, it has lower def rating and weights a lot more. If you have tribunal you will get a set of dark brotherhood armor (light) fairly early and that stuff is awesome.
Late game, if you have enough strength, I would recommend switching to heavy armor in some parts.
I played with a 3 magic, 4 stealth, 3 combat character with light armor and shortblades and ended up using a mix of glass armor and heavy armor artifacts. Though I have a pretty high strength, thanks to acrobatics and permanent +20 from a glove.
Though that just happens to fit my 'playstyle'. Could be that you'll be happy with medium. But most ppl recommend either heavy or light armor.

lol, Striders make the game so much easier. Also, with heavy armor, I recommend Axes :D
yeah I know... but in my previous game I didn't really walk anywhere, and I kind of like running into random people with random miniquests, and exploring the map a bit more ^^ though if I have to hop up and down between Balmora and Vivec all the time (for example) I may just go lazy mode again :p
Pics will be in the OP version.

Hlaalu quests? you'll be going back and forth a lot :D
Derp around! Take a visit to the island place with the spellcater guy up northeast. Sheogorad? I can't recall - It's been so long since I've played this game properly!

I don't think i've ever been in any other Great House, now that I think about it :D
Telvanni usually involves you killing someone or another or getting X item from X dungeon. For rewards you get shiny things. I've never done house redoran, and house hlaalu...well yeah its kinda dull.
a tad late to announce this, but in light of MLG, game updates will be delayed. also, i'm staying at someone else's house for the week (in-house dogsitting/house-sitting), so this week is going to be busy for me. I'll do what I can when I can, though.
I've been playing for the last couple of days. Already on lvl 14 and got quite a few expensive stuff for selling but i cant sell them lol.
I robbed the armorer in balmora and got an adamantium armor set and got glass dagger which i dont need. Wohoo im rich now but where to sell lol ! Is there some rich traders like at least 10k gold for trading ? everyone is so poor in Morrowind

I'm taking care of someone's dog in their house while they are on vacation, and I need to be around to let certain people in. This house is going to be used in a movie, and several people may need to be let in while the family is out D:
But for now, let's talk about stuff related to Morrowind, so we can keep this thread alive(and towards the top of the S&G forums).
Also, to answer your question, yes, as far as I know.

VERY different. What I find to be the biggest difference is the quests. you need to read the quest notes, and use your brain!!!!! Which I find quite refreshing. Also, the combat system is different. As in worse. It is determined whether you hit or not by your weapon stat, luck, and some other factors I think. It's quite obnoxious really :s Overall, the gameplay is waaaaayy better, but more difficult also. If you don't have patience, you won't really go far in this game I find

Um, you go there and see it in the early stage for the Hlaalu/Redoran stronghold quest. It's like all Telvanni towers a bit cramped, but it's fairly large so it's ok.

Bolded part one: I disagree D: It is in no way worse. I find that if you don't enable 'always use best attack', that it takes more effort to put that hit on someone, however, I don't think anyone leaves that box unchecked :D. Also, I think that it is more rewarding to get that big hit on someone in TES3, becuase you can actually knock people down or knock them back. This is different from Oblivion, where it is pure hack and slash. Afaik, there aren't any reactions to big hits in TES4. But in single conbat in Morrowind, I usually use an Axe. Specifically, a two-handed Bound Axe. I get a feeling of satisfaction by making a Dremora Lord fall to the ground before my feet, allowing me to bring my mighty axe down upon his skull. I don't think that can come in Oblivion :/
Bolded part two: I agree with this so. Damn. Much. Patience is key to this game. Mainly from the lack of free Fast Travel from any place to any other marked place, at least. There is still fast transport, but it is more realistic in that you need to pay a small fee for it, and it's between large cities. However, this gets you more immersed into the game universe. You get more time on the ground(or above it, with Levitation), which gives you more time to walk around and look at everything, and it gives you more time to get acquianted with the land of Morrowind.
Lack of fast travel is not that much of an issue. Once you figure out how to use the travel system, including divine/almivisi intervention and mark/recall, alongisde with the boots of blinding speed, you get around pretty fast.
Then you make permanent enchanted jump armor, and you travel ridiculously fast :D. I got really efficient at it. Started playing it at the start of last week, had some time last weekend, now I am nerevarine, head of most groups, finished tribunal and just started on bloodmoon.

I find myself kind of annoyed with Telvanni towers :/ too much levitation required, even though I had a CE +4 Levitation belt(which I barely used due to the low +Lev). I also think that it's hard to find your way around sometimes, due to the twisty nature of the mushroom towers. I still like the outsides of the Mushroom Towers, though, as they blend nicely with the regions they're in. They also are one of the most memorable things in Morrowind. I still prefer the traditional style of house. I like the simple look and feel of it, along with being able to navigate rather easily.

Make a dai katana with absorb health. Nothin kills faster than that.

Save it, or enchant a Deadric weapon with it. I have a collection of soul gems that I've collected from just about every Dagoth I've killed. I've made a small exhibit of them atop a Balmora rooftop. Some of the other ones have been used to e nchant Daedric weapons with an enchantment that I feel suits the soul put into it, along with the Dagoth's name in the weapon name, as a reminder of who was killed to make it. But as a heads-up, Almalexia's soul is worth less than that of a Golden Saint, IIRC.

A CE Bound Dai-Katana would work better, imo, as it has +10 CE Fortify Long Blade, making you even more proficient with the weapon you are holding, simply by holding it :D

My characters wear permanent enchanted jump items. I simply jump up in the towers :D.
Almalexias soul is the strongest soul in the game (and makes azuras star worth 7.5 million gold), about 4 times larger than a golden saint I think. Absorb health weapons are the strongest, but I wanna do something more creative.

I just have CE speed and CE bound armor + weapons, so I get the speed boost without the speed loss from wearing the armor. I also have CE restore health and CE restore fatigue, so I can constantly run, and actually gain stamina when not swinging my mighty axe, and getting some between blows. I'll check out CE jump and slowfall items, too, once I get back home this monday(or tuesday).
Also, I do indeed stand corrected. 1500 Soul > 400 Soul. However, If you're going to enchant something with it, DO NOT waste such a big soul on a CE, as a Golden Saint is made for CE. Get a Daedric weapon, and make a Cast on Strike enchant, make use of that gigantic soul rating.

It also doesn't make you kill people faster.
Weight of 0 is a big appealing factor to me, along with no need for repair. Besides, why would I need to absorb health if I'm not getting hurt? I just find that I don't really like Cast on Strike that much :/ unless it's early in the game, where I need something that can hit spectral enemies, and Silver weapons don't give me the damage I want.
I never really played Morrowind, never got the hold of me. However once I wanted to beat goblins & bandits with a claymore and I installed Oblivion... And I loved it!
But there must be something to Morrowind which Oblivion lacks?? Is it the story line? (Never really played the story line in Oblivion, I found it boring and repetitive!)

In my opinion, Morrowind was a much bigger game. I played the crap out of it, and I still hadn't seen most of the stuff on the East coast. The combat sucks a bit because of the missing, but I feel like there were so many more quests.

For Almalexias soul, I wanna do one of the following: Daedric Dai-Katana on strike: -100 points chamaeleon for 3 or 4 seconds on self, meaning I am invisible while fighting, and can just hunt every opponent down without them being able to do anything about it. Can just make permanent chamaeleon armor though, but that freaks people out . -100 points sanctuary for 3 or for seconds on self, making me invulnerable in melee with that weapon. Can make that as constant effect as well, but I would have to not wear my jump armor then.
Daedric Tower Shield (need to find one first though): -Some form of bomb spell with 100 fire/frost/shock/poison damage 1 second on touch or on target. And with the speed you can activate enchanted items, its basically the highest dps thing there is. (apart from alchemy abusing strength :D): Goes well until something reflects it. -Fortifiy Strength, Acrobatics and Jump each 100 points for like 3 seconds on use, for fast travel. Although I can do that with spells right now.
Basically, the bomb spell would make the most use out of size of the soul, but I need to find a tower shield first.

I would say...
For the Dai-Katana, if you want a Sancuaty spell, I would recommend Cast on Use. It seems like a Cast on Strike 100pts Sanctuary on Self would waste the charge rather quickly, especially if you need a lot of hits to kill your target, or if you have a bunch of smaller targets to deal with. However, you could use an Absorb Strength + Burden to basically immobilize them for easier killing. I just don't really like Cast on Strike spells very much :/
For a Daedric Tower shield, though, you can find them on Golden Saints. Just summon one, and use the perma-summon exploit in console. Summon the GS, open console, select the GS, sethealth 0. rapidlyexit and reenter console, and Resurrect the GS. It should now be a normal GS, and will drop whatever it has on it. It will also attack you/other people/guards. However, you can repeat the killing and resurrection process until you get a GS with a Daedric tower shield. For the enchantment, though, a spell that gave lots of + to Jump and Acrobatics would be nice, to get you out of sticky situations quickly, and allowing you to change out your currrent set of armor for a different one, with other enchantments. Like CE Bound Armor, or CE Sanctuary, which is something I wanna check out now. Just imagining, CE +100 Sanctuary would be so imba and broken awesome. Also, if you could get that along with CE +100 Absorb and/or Reflect Magicka, you would be just.... just plain invincible. However, would a Dispel spell remove the effects?

Do you think I will be able to "downgrade" into Morrowind?! I mean, usually it is hard to downgrade in graphics (besides from sc2--->BW ofc :D ) without it being too disturbing. Perhaps there is a graphics enhancement mod?! Perhaps anyone knows if this works: http://morroblivion.com/ ?!

Honestly, you don't NEED any graphics mods, the game is fine as is. Take a look at some of the screenshots in the post. You'll see that the graphics aren't terrible.

Tevlanni house was in the nicest location imo. And the 3 most important things in real estate are location, location, location. Plus, there's that ebony mine nearby, so if you didn't sell the location for a daedric weapon, you can go in there regularly. Actually, even if you did, you can still plunder it iirc. Heavy stuff, but worth a pretty penny.
Does anyone remember raiding all the house vaults in Vivec? Man, I had some fond memories cleaning those out. I think it was Tevlanni that you could find the key to it on a desk in the upper part of the Vivec section in someone's house. This game was so awesome.
Me to Morrowind: "I think you're a thief! Because you have stolen my heart." Oh Fargoth.
I love that game, I've easily put 300+ hours into it, and yet I still turn on my xbox and find new things to do. Obliv was ok, but I feel like they took out a lot of game for every bit they added in. Sure the quests were more coherent but where did levitate go? etc etc. Also I feel like the difficultly doesn't scale very well. Blocking was very cool but I found myself always back peddling to never get hit, and hacking away for minutes to kill bad guys. (That's not to say morrowind was much better). I had both games on xbox so I never got to experience the mods =(
I'm tempted to go back and buy it for PC, but Skyrim is really close which I'm totally stoked for and definitely getting for PC this time around. Are there any mods that make picking up Oblivion on PC worth it?

tbh there are more perv mods than actual usefull ones lol. Though ther are maaaaaaanyyyyyyyy good ones too. and I mean MAAAANYYYY I think I've spent more time modding it that actually playing it rofl. But I played it for too long on the Ps3, so it never really did it for me. Even with all the mods, there were still so few things to do compared to morrowind. I never tried the huge quest line mods, and the mods that added huge new areas though... Never had the patience to download them Modded Oblivion would get a 9/10 from me. I still regret buying it for the Ps3 first >.<

I think I knew of the existence of this option... as in being vaguely aware that someone once mentioned it, but I don't think I've ever touched this D: .... and I've been playing this off and on for years... oh wow xD I feel so bad xD

That DOES sound pretty awesome... but I dislike Telvanni buildings ><
Do you still need to undress if you're a female character?

Just get Morrowind for the PC, you can get to GOTY edition online for $20 to $30 on Steam or Amazon. It's also better :D
Morrowind and Oblivion GOTY editions are available on steam as a pack for $14.99 USD at the moment, with an additional discount if you pre-order Skyrim.

That sounds amazing.. If only I didn't already have TES3 :D

I actually should be able to get back on track with this sooon. As of writing, the dog's family should be back tomorrow night.

I saw this last night and I picked it up. Great price. Just finished oblivion a while ago and now getting into morrowind. This game is much harder!!! But am still enjoying the old schoolness of it
Seeing the recent Steam deal, I stumbled upon this thread with means to ask:
Should I get the $14.99 Oblivion + MW GOTY?! It sounds too good to pass up. I have only ever played Oblivion, and couldn't get into it for reasons I can't recall, though I don't think it was specific to the gameplay as it was a cracked version a friend had loaned me and I think there were other issues. I have never played Morrowind, but my roommate has it (GOTY) and offered to let me borrow it as well to try. However, this deal just sounds sweet, might be too good to pass up.
Which is the better of the two games, and why? Or just compare/contrast. And how hard are they to get into as a new player? I'm itching to play something like this (fumbled around with Diablo 2 again recently) and these fit the bill perfectly but something about my past experience is holding me back, and I can't remember why!!
Going to read through more of the OP and see if I don't just get too excited to play right away xD
Edit: Just reading through most of the thread gives me my answers. Probably going to snipe my roomies Morrowind and see if I like it enough to get the pack before it's off sale.

The story, the world and most of the game mechanics. It's just better.
That. And the dynamic leveling in oblivion is retarded.
Oblivion does have better graphics, but so does SC2 over BW.

argh! just get the package! :D they're a great game(TES4) and an awesome game(TES3) for a nice price. Just do it.
I think TES3(Morrowind + expos) is better. I don't really know how to compare/contrast with Oblivion, though. They're completely different games.
Just get the pack! You'll have your own copy of the game and won't need any CD's.

Planning on it now! Which do you recommend to play first, assuming one was going to play through both? Also are there any definitive mods for Morrowind (or either) that simply enhance the game but don't add any new content? Saw some links in the first few pages but wasn't sure if those were recent/updated/recommended.
I'm getting too hyped! Hope its worth it xD

Oblivion: Oh hey, I see you're doing well now! You just leveled up? Cool! Let's give you monsters that are just as annoying as the previous ones, except they've gotten better along with you, so they'll be giving you just as much of a hard time. Also, we'll make sure that all vendors get upgraded inventories with better weapons and armor. Just to make things easier for you. Also, if you want to sell your old stuff, don't worry. Most merchants can buy items up to 1k in value, and they have an infinite reserve of money to buy yout stuff with. But only in 1k increments, though!
Morrowind: Oh hey, I see you've leveled up! Congrats, but that I don't really care. You're gonna deal with whatever monsters were already on the map, and their respawn rate isn't gonna change. You'll be able to kill everything more effectively, if at all. Because there are still monsters that can kill your face off with merely a single attack. But if it's any consolation, they might need some extra effort to kill you now. However, you're still free to try and get some of the highest-tier armor in the game from people who have it. Because some people do. But the people who don't have it right now won't have it later, unless you sell it to them. But fat chance of that happening, because most merchants are poor as fuck, and you need to find one of two special merchants who have either 5k or 10k gold to be able to sell high tier items for any real value. And if they run out of that money, you'll have to wait 48 hours for them to get it all back, because they don't have an infinite pool of money al lat once.

But to really get the most of Morrowind, you're gonna have to put a lot of time into it, unlike Oblivion, which is a LOT shorter and smaller.

So I guess my real question would be, should I pre-game my TES experience with Oblivion before I hit Morrowind, even though it's the elder (hah.) game =P
I've gathered that they're really different and difficult to compare, but would it be wise to play the "easier" one first lol
Well, there was one thing I kind of liked in Oblivion. You could easily see which of the items you were hauling around were stolen. But since you could only sell them to a few special merchants, most stuff was not really worth stealing anyway.
But the dynamic leveling thing was hugely annoying. Kind of a deal breaker imo. Yeah, there are mods for that kind of stuff, but even with them Morrowind was just better.
Another thing that Morrowind has going for it: the world is kind of alien, or at least different enough from most fantasy settings to keep it more compelling and interesting.

Morrowind if you want to really get into something, and Oblivion if you want something to load up every now and then in some spare time.
You make time for Morrowind, whereas Oblivion fills already spare time.

Thievery in Morrowind is so much easier, mainly because of all of the low-value, low-weight items that you can grab and sell to the local General Store, provided you didn't steal from the store itself. You can also steal entire armor sets from some places, which can be really nice :D
Stealing in morrowind is ezpz, I can steal almost anything in the game at level 1 with no sneak skill whatsoever. The hardest part is actually opening locks, but thats nothing scrolls can't solve.

That dude is now set for adventure.
Ya, you can do this in morrowind without abuse of any glitch :D
Morrowind has a lot of opportunities for everyone. You can play a streamlined game, mainly focussing on the main quest. You can play a game where you do every quest you get, become master of all guilds and collect all the good armor and weapons in the game. You can abuse the game to get good stuff really fast. You have tons of options for roleplay (vampire and werewolf included).
And then you can add a ton of mods to your game. Or you can create your own mod.
Alright, guys, I'm back and ready to get on this. I'm gonna try and do things in large chunks, as I have only 22 days until I move into my college dorm.

Probably going to snipe my roomies Morrowind and see if I like it enough to get the pack before it's off sale.
argh! just get the package!
Edit: Holy shit just realized that this mod that was linked in the thread was just updated this week! That recently! O_O
Considering the thread title, you should know which I recommend more :D
But to really get the most of Morrowind, you're gonna have to put a lot of time into it, unlike Oblivion, which is a LOT shorter and smaller.
So I guess my real question would be, should I pre-game my TES experience with Oblivion before I hit Morrowind, even though it's the elder (hah.) game =P
I've gathered that they're really different and difficult to compare, but would it be wise to play the "easier" one first lol
Morrowind if you want to really get into something, and Oblivion if you want something to load up every now and then in some spare time.
You make time for Morrowind, whereas Oblivion fills already spare time.
So I should spend the last few weeks of summer with Morrowind and save Oblivion for when the semester starts ;P
Sure. Just don't blame me when the semester starts and you're still playing Morrrowind :D
An update: I've been playing this game straight since this post. At least 30 hours so far, probably more. Can't stop. I've done two full guild chains and I'm finally forcing myself to work through the rest of the main quest line (on the Fourth Trial atm, Fifth already done) so I can finish the game first and THEN dick around with more side quests and/or a new character. Also I'm actually looking forward to blitzing through Oblivion shortly thereafter for a side-by-side comparison, and so I can feel that I've not wasted the money for it when I come directly back to Morrowind to play 2-3 new characters xD.

WHERE HAS THIS BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE ;;
:D I'm glad to have made you spend 30+ hours on a game. Also, I'm trying to get a lot done at once for the journal, so the next one should be done in a while.

Nooo, you added a butcher everyone option D: I bet you my ass that option is going to be stacked by tomorrow lol. (Just like everyone voting to hump everything in the blue creature thread =_=)

This is the internet, why would you NOT want the blue creature to hump everything?
I was playing Morrowind in the last few weeks and was doing lots of quests and just exploring in general. I ended up with lvl 30 Redguard fighing machine with every decent artifact in the game and went for the main quest to beat Dagoth Ur heart which was kinda easy.
So I beat him and the game is still ongoing ? Anything worthwhile doing next or should i just start a new char.I found a way to mod the creeper in Caldera to start with 50k gold and I ended up with 2m gold so is there a good way to spend it on LOL !
I want to start another char but got no idea what to pick next .... any recommenations?

For one you can turn the difficulty up to max. Training is a good way to spend the gold. Also there are the expansions...those are significantly harder.
Training and enchanting at npcs are good ways to spend money. If you have 100 mercantile, and make a fortifiy mercantile 100 spell, they do get relatively cheap though

Training and enchanting can be extremely expensive... but enchanting can basically turn you into a demigod. I'll just suggest Exquisite pants, shirt, rings, amulet and belt, along with Grand Soul Gems with a Golden Saint inside them, for Constant Effect. For the effect, you might want to use Bound Item, like Bound Cuirass, Bound Boots, Bound Gloves and Bound Helm. All four of those fit on an Exquisite Amulet. Free armor that gives you buffs, weighs nothing, and can be repaired fully by removing and putting the amulet back on. I became so damn OP with that thing, geez...
