CPU and memory is the main bottlekneck for low fps because there are 100 players with customization + npcs that are being updated in real time at the same time, thats a MASSIVE strain on these components.

But I only have a good dual core not a quad. Maybe I had too much stuff running in the background, will try again later. I have one of the best dual cores on the market ( 3,16ghz) and it doesnt run well on it. You really need a quad core for this game. And I'm not speaking out of my ass. I was specificly told by a G1 dev on APB that I needed to change my CPU to up my FPS/fix combat stuttering because its the main bottlekneck for this game. fyi my setup: intel core 2 duo 3,16ghz 4 gig ram Geforce GTS 250 A good way to troubleshoot your performance issues is to try to adjust the video settings inside APB. If max or min settings gives you the same fps/stuttering it's safe to say its because of your CPU/HDD. A slow HDD can also give stuttering because there are so many texture files to load as you're playing in a 100 man district with that amount of customzation. So a simple defragmentation can fix this issue.

Also APB physics is so broken its fun rammed a charger into a dumptruck and the charger flew onto a roof top and just camped there with the item for the mission. I recommend everybody that can play this game to at least give it a try. Its a fun easy game to play but difficult to master. The cash shop items are not in anyway overpowered unless you're still playing in the low tier stuff. High tier stuff the guns that you can make and create are way better than the guns you buy with cash shop. The only gun that I find slightly annoying is the whisper because I never know when I get shot and just fall over on the floor spontaneously. Seriously if you have any doubts of wanting to play, just play it. Its hard not to like this game. There are some issues with the optimization of the game since there isn't any but it's still highly addicting and fun

it looks and feels like a free to play title though, so it won't have the sickest long term playability. but i would definitely be up for a few games with TL guys. not sure by which name you add but my character is "NatashaFar" on USEast (Joker(?)). maybe i'll add a few people who gave out their nicks in this thread and see if we can get on TS and kill some noobs (i'm a noob too though ![]() i think everyone should give this game a shot ![]()

If you really want to enjoy the game you NEED friends to play with. Its a serious flaw in the game, but it is what it is.

So, get out there, make some friends and have a blast.

The 2vs2+ are usually always a blast though! Total chaos, cars flying and explosions everywhere. In a good way that is ![]() And it is all a lot more fun if the people you are playing with are friends on voip.

Larger battles probably wouldn't work. It's hard enough taking down 4 guys camped up in some high-ground around the objective. Imagine 8, 12, 20! It would just be a duck-shoot for all the snipers and campers out there. 4v4 leaves enough room for some skill and luck to penetrate the area and take the objective, which in-turn provides more excitement and chaos. I've been through a lot of clutch moments this weekend where it seemed like they were going to hold the objective until the timer ran out, but we pulled a fluke out of our asses, killed all of them in a short timespan and completed it. Fortunately, when that doesn't happen, losing isn't the end of the world and you can dive straight into the next awesome firefight. I feel like larger fights would just turn out like WoW battlegrounds; exactly the same boring thing over and over again. But, I could be wrong. That could be more of problem with the same objectives, groupthink and Blizzard wanting to have absolute control, rather than allowing chaos to reign, like in APB. Out of curiosity, what's the difference between a silver gun and the gold gun when you look at their stats on the scoreboard? Do the gold ones mean it was a permanent one (bought for like $60!), or something else? Oh and if I buy something in the Beta, it'll keep with my account in the full thing, right? I want to give these guys some money for something, because I haven't had this much fun since WoW vanilla BGs (well, and intermittant games of L4D2 and SC2, to be fair). Dunno what to buy, though. Getting a gun would just ruin the fun of progression.

Resupply with your field kit, and use grenades to remove them from the top of the ladder. These situations aren't impossible, they just require teamwork. Get a mic and turn on your VOIP ingame. Your experience will improve. On June 28 2011 01:42 Bibdy wrote: Larger battles probably wouldn't work. It's hard enough taking down 4 guys camped up in some high-ground around the objective. This can occur when one team calls for backup and the system gives them a full group of 3+, which then gives the other team the option to call for backup, and the game can continue to escalate. Funnest game I've had was a match between 6 of us Enforcers, and 9 Crims. Managed to win it, but it was so chaotic I loved every minute of it.

You are correct that the CPU is the main bottleneck, but completely wrong in saying that you need a quad core. I have a Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6GHZ and I'm easily maintaining 50-60 frames per second at 1680x1050 on maximum settings with 4 x AA and 8 x AF.
