I think what helped made these games masterpieces was the genius of Nobuo Uematsu. The soundtracks for each game were just wonderful to listen to. Even now when I listen to them it brings back a heap of nostalgia for me :D. I never got to play FF X as I never owned a PS2 but I got the rom going on an emulator on my PC and I really hated the english voices - it seemed incredibly cheesy and lame T_T (kinda like trying to watch an anime in english dub compared to english sub). I probably should give it a go again but I'm just way too lazy.

For FFX, get the japanese voice modded version. I did, Ive played both versions and the japanese voices are so, so much better. Tidus in English makes me want to punch walls.

![]() I just cant get into FF8, i dont know if im doing something wrong or ive just missed something, but the only thing that seems to do enough damage to anything is the summons. So you just have to spam your summons. It really killed the game off for me. Its even less demanding then 13 is lol. I can see the potential of the storyline, but i just cant get into it because i just get bored and my brain sorta asks itself "sc2? fuck yeah!" and suddenly my ps3 is turned off rofl. Have i missed something with FF8's battle system? i cant even figure out how to upgrade my weps -_- On October 28 2011 00:50 Chuiu wrote: Really hate how all the FF's im interested in playing have been going to PSP. Crisis Core Dissidia Tactics: war of the lions And now Type-0. I don't want to give in and spend $100 on a psp just to play these games on such a small screen, but I'm getting real close to doing it. I don't understand why they don't port them to PS3 and allow us to play them there, it would be so easy and probably increase their sales by a crapload. Dissidia and war of the lions are some excellent fucking games. I never got my hands on Crisis core as my psp broke and i never replaced it. I havent played the 2nd release of dissidia but fuck does it look good! war of the lions has an excellent story and good challenges, just attempting it with ~1 less character in fights screws you over in some of the story battles. + Clouds in it as secret char. wins all round.

I feel this way about FFXIII. The voice acting is atrocious. I don't understand why, after spending so much money to make the game, they'll get some shit-ass voice actors to do the English translation. Vanille and that stupid kid made me stop playing entirely. Actually, all the dialogue was shit. Shit performance and shit writing.

As someone above said, I also believe FF IX is one of the most underrated of the series. I played, and completed that game 100%, and enjoyed every second of it. It's a unique game, imo, and really added something new and interesting to the franchise. Hell, the last boss (Ark???) was craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazay. Love the series.... gotten 4 of my mates into it who had the stereotypical 'final fantasy herp derp' attitude and now they're like me playing the game until it's 100% completed.

Awesome to see you guys talking about FFIX and its music. It was by far my favorite in the series, and I still find myself talking to my friends about it, not to mention we have basically all of the music too lol. Nobuo is a straight up fucking genius. His music makes the game so ridiculously good. I actually learned how to play the Beatrix and Steiner theme on piano which for someone as unmotivated and untalented as me is quite a feat.

Also I think theres a way to get a PS controller work as well and just use PSP as a console platform but that might be more complicated than just buying a cable.

This is coming from someone that would rate it 10/10 and has several hundred hours spent playing it, I love the game, but I can also objectively step back and see that it has weaknesses and isn't the perfect game that some rabid fanboys make it out to be. FF8 was bleh FF9, while a great game, was not one of my favorites, I still have great respect for it though. FF10 was the 2nd coming for me, maybe it was because 8 and 9 didn't live up to the awesomeness of 7 for me, but I loved pretty much everything about this game. I never got to complete 100% of all the side content (got close though! XD) but then again I spent countless hours just playing the blitzball minigame (my team was sick yo) FF10-2 was a game I couldn't take seriously, I didn't play it so I won't judge it, but I can't say I liked what I have seen of it. Didn't play ff11, played but didn't complete ff12 as I just lost interest in the game. Haven't seen anything of FF13 or 13-2. As for all the older games (1-6) I didn't play any of them enough to make a real judgement, I like the job system of 5 and the difficulty of 4 (the actual 4, the harder version) but beyond that not much to say. FFtatics was the best thing ever, the only game I think I wasted more time on was WoW. Just my 2cents ![]() ![]() FF X-2 was absolutely terrible. I played it after FFX, wondering if it would live up to the amazing quality of FFX. It was pure crap. FFVII and FFX for me.

They are such amazing games with hundreds, and hundreds, of hours of content. On top of all that, you never, ever, want to stop playing and at no point in the game does it to the point "fuck this". I think when you ultimately get to the level where you're playing the very end of each of the FF series you get a mindset 'no going back now'. Take FFX, for example, you're not going to suddenly stop playing the game after you've beaten Dark Valforen(?) and Dark Ifrit, especially after the grind that was the ultimate weapons (even if they weren't needed for those 2). You're so close to the end, after hundreds of hours, you just won't turn back. As someone above said, I also believe FF IX is one of the most underrated of the series. My FF9 disc got scratched so I can't replay it. Still, I think Chocobo Hot and Cold + Ozma were some of the best additions to the series. Great worldwide minigame and a random, cheesy boss that was a pain in the ass but fun to fight.

(1'm 24 now) So FF13 was the first I played for 360 and with no expectations I totally loved it. Put in about 80 hours and didn't quite finish EVERYTHING. Had the last optional mission yet, didn't have everything quite leveled. etc. But really loved it. So I am allways curious about the hate. Little disinclined to try the earlier ones just because of graphics reasons, but currently playing through the original FF on my iPhone (lol) whenever I have time to kill and enjoying it. (about 12 hours into it) The other ones just had more exploration, coherent stories and different battle systems (for better or worse). I think what people like the most about the previous ones are mostly that they are more open etc

This + complex storyline is what make people hate FF8 at the same time it is what makes FF8 one of the best game to ever bear the name Final Fantasy. The only reason i can think of why FF8 is hated by so many people is because of it being 8, the game right after the overrated FFVII (don't get me wrong, it was a great game) and because of the complex storyline (it's not only about the cheesy love story bro and the boss come out of no where) and gameplay system that many people cant seem to be able to get it. It is one of those game that the more you understand the storyline the more you grow to love it because many of the plots just didn't tell straight to your face, you have to relate every events together to know why this is happening.

Playing the SNES Final Fantasy 3/6 with no saving at all, and no spoilers/game knowledge. It's over 10 years since I played this game and I remember almost nothing. Playing it almost blindly with no save has made the game a LOT more interesting for a veteran gamer such as a myself. I started this yesterday and after about 12 hours of playing I just exited Zozo with my first four Espers. I had completely forgotten the entire city of Zozo. At least the version of the city before the apocalypse - I think my horrors in dark version of the city has basically wiped the nice one out of memory. In fact, the terrible tower in the latter Zozo is one of my few clear memories from this game. Anyway, I'd like to list the path so far: Narshe to Figaro Castle to South Figaro to that mountain thingy all went easily. First real challenge came when Vargas blew away my dudes and I had to hit a blitz with Sabin. I missed twice for some mysterious reason and was down to my last few hitpoints... that gave me a scare. Next challenge came rather unexpectedly when I suddenly found myself on the underwater path with Sabin, Gau and Edgar. Every sea creature wanted to use crazy bolts and my dudes were throwing fenix downs and my best potions around like crazy. After hours of play, that was way closer than I appreciated. Since that I have been pretty safe. So far my tactics has been to always level up one extra level every time I feel a boss coming, in addition to basic stuff like keeping myself healed and well stocked. All/most party members carry a true knight. I'm excited to continue my adventure. Things become so much more exciting when I know I only have one chance (it's not like I can blind play it again if I happen to die). Even deciding which characters to use towards the late game is going to be an intriguing puzzle. Micromanaging espers is also fun. With my limited selection, I am currently trying to ensure everyone gets the +10% hp level up bonus (except for Celes, which gets +1 mp). I would never bother about such things if I could save. Well, I'm heading back to my scary world of FF3, a world of no second chances.
