I've been playing SF4 since vanilla and SC2 since shortly after beta. I played the shit out of both games and got to a pretty high rank in both ones. This might sound a bit provoking, but I really think SF4 takes more skill than SC2. In SF4 you really have to put a lot of thought into every single round - analyze your opponent, establish mindgames etc etc. While in SC2, it's more about not making mistakes, and executing your generic 3base macro build as good as you can. You can kinda play SC2 on autopilot, relying a lot on muscle memory to win without putting a lot of thought into the game. You are basically practising one huge flowchart (which would be called a style in starcraft terms), which covers everything that your opponent can do. The thing that defines succes is then how well you execute it. You can't approach SF4 with this flowchart mentality and expect a lot of succes, and I think that's what makes it a lot harder. I would love your input on this.

By the way, I know this is the Street Fighter thread, but if you want to play the "Brood War" of fighting games, try Guilty Gear or Vampire Savior.

The flowchart part is true to a large degree, but I think you're underestimating the importance of mindgames and flexibility in sc2.

I play both AE and Dota2 (not high level though) and although there are some similarities between the game (if you think of it), they are still very different games. AE is about 1v1 battles, Dota is a 5v5 game. In AE, if you are skilled enough any character can make you win games, but in Dota2 you have to take more things into consideration, like synergy between all the heroes (You will not see a pro-team picking 5 hard carries on the same team)

Having a style in Starcraft doesn't mean you can win without making any decisions relative to the individual match you're playing, like where to attack, when to attack, microing and all other things.

I see some people calling him out on twitter, saying he's playing more WoT and LoL than SSF4 these days. Deja vu. But I agree he's a great player. Wouldn't be surprised if he went back to GG once GGXrd gets an arcade release though (and if it's a good game).

The playstyle in a nutshell, don't ever use any specials, supers or ultras (Well he did use some Sonic Booms in the last game but still) and instead focus on jumping attacks so that I have to guess what to do and how to block ![]() It worked, defiantly caught me off-guard, and I'm also a bit rusty on the game (And with the Portal pack coming for Dota2 next week, I don't think I'll play much other games than Dota2)
