Reunion X3 is single player sandbox space sim

As far as I make out it is like eve online and star trader (mobile phone)

You build up trade and military relationships in a huge universe, gain status, resources and new spaceships

The enemy alien forces are known as The Cock ...

I'm going to try it after the recommendation of a friend

I spent hours playing star trader and eve so it sounds promising type of game, though single player

Game is from 2005 afaik (recent version is X3 Terran Conflict) so should run on laptop

Its the khaak, but yeah it does sound like that lol. Tbh X3TC is a lot easier to get in to, and if you ask me is better.

TC and Reunion are the same game, TC only added some stuff like any other expansion. They're equally easy to get into.

If you're going to run vanilla Reunion, MAKE SURE you get the latest patches. A top of the line computer could barely run Reunion when it first came out and all the bugs made it pretty much unplayable (yay for 50% chance of CTD every time you jump a gate >_>).

I'd recommend checking out the X-Tended mod if you like the gameplay. The latest version of X-Tended is a whole new game, but the earlier versions just add a lot of awesome stuff to the original without making any significant gameplay changes.

X3 in general is among the most difficult games I've ever played, don't give up though if you face hardships, it's definitely worth it to learn the game!

But its much, much easier to get money in X3TC. Hence my comment on why its easier to get into.

I'd also recommend Terran Conflict, it's better optimized at using your system's resources than the original Reunion. I played Reunion when it came out on a bleeding edge system at the time, and over a month-long gameplay marathon I had made a gigantic fleet and was planning on just invading the alien space sectors and killing everyone, but when the fleet was on the move the game was just unplayable, 1 FPS all the way

Reunion also had some major issues with the ship's AI, they had a tendency to just crash into capital ships and space stations when ordered to attack them instead of maintaining a maximum distance and firing, and it made large battles a micromanagement nightmare. I don't know if they fixed that in Terran Conflict, but I really hope they did.

Trying to mircomanage in x3 reunion was a nighmare, infact it probably the most hard to use game ever, the interface is simple appuling at some points. However its still a pretty good game.

Played X3:TC and all I have to say is... it could've been an awesome game if the guys that designed the interface and ship ai weren't such masochistic assholes.

Never have I seen such a horrible way to tell a computer to do stuff.
