He's asking for a game without heavy time investment and you're recommending EVE. Wow.
While it's a wonderful game that I'd gladly start playing again if I had the spare time, you shouldn't start playing EVE - especially with PVP in mind - unless you're willing to spend endless amounts of time roaming around looking for targets. As with all aspects of EVE, in theory you can get going any minute and don't need to grind for hours, but in reality, you'll spend those hours (and many more) trying to get something done.

This would be so damn sexy, told my friends the same when talking about the next game I would like to have. I also loved the BGs, spent most of my WoW time in them.
Instant action without - leveling every class for a month - pve / pvp equipment imbalances - Blizzard's strange way of balancing classes overall - arena grinding just to be able to compete in bg - farming for the mats / money to get the enchantments or whatever
I wouldn't mind having to earn equipment in BGs, just not arena and pve. AFAIK there is still a game Blizzard is working on but dind't announce yet, something like this would be the greatest thing ever.

But honestly there is no game out there that can match wow bg's casualness but at the same time premade seriousness. If you know what i mean
This. Go back to WoW (because honestly no one does it better) or wait for GW2, it's the last hope atm for anything to compete seriously.
This, but Gws1 is pretty dead atm, unless you can find some friends to pvp with. Just wait for GW2 and renew wow in the meantime, its what I'm doing :D.
Honestly, if Bloodline Champions had more battle ground style play it would be much more popular. Right now it does the arena part of WoW well enough, but the problem with the game is that random teams/ solo (3v3 random teams) can be frustrating at times. Larger BG settings would be great for the casual crowd.

Source? I can't imagine what they're possibly working on. I mean they'll have D3 coming up then HOTS, and presumably a new WoW expansion, but to cut into their own market with a BG style game, I'm a little skeptical.
mount and blade warband multiplayer is amazing. i'd definitely recommend getting that first before fire and sword. admittedly i'm waiting for more reviews and patches on fire and sword before getting it - and also because i'm not a big fan of even more ranged weapons.
warband combat is so easy to get into as a newbie (spamming attacks, never blocking) with relative success - much akin to a 6pool, 3rax, 4gate etc. but as you get more experience with positioning, blocking, chambering attacks, feints, and lots of footwork, the game is so deep and satisfying when you pull off something insane.

I play, or have played, all of the above, thank you though.. Just really missing that battleground 10+ player chaos :'(
I'd recommend Shaiya, its quite old but it has awesome pvp. You can stay in the low level pvp zone with a hard mode character and just enjoy yourself.
As far as I remember people were really limited when it came to items/build in that bracket so really it would be based more on your skills + team. If you prefer party pvp then you could go for the lvl 30 bracket or the end game ones, but they require you to put alot more time/effort/$ in.
The downside is that you would have to go through normal mode to get to hard mode, which isn't tragic if you take one of the power levelling classes (mage/priest/tank) and get a group/guild.

Even if there is only rated 3v3 and 2v2 there are BG maps in it.

Codename "Titan" is the game I meant but seams there is still another. Going to read that threat now..
lol, oh shit... that's intense...
so, iirc timeline of blizzard games:
Oct 2011: (probably) New WoW Expansion announced Oct 2011: (probably instead of WoW) Titan annouced (and shown) Oct 2011: HoTS previewed more in-depth Late 2011: Diablo 3 Early 2012: HoTS Late 2012/2013: WoW Expo 2014: Titan 2015 (maybe earlier): "new game"
now THATS a line-up that only Blizzard can support... roflrofl

Some people dont want to grind a month to get to the part they want to play. It's nothing like climbing sc2 ladder because you aren't actually learning what you need for PvP...it's a meaningless time waster if youre playing Wow just for the bgs.
Dont forget the grinding or gear or re grinding levels if you want to play a different class. Your entire argument makes no sense frankly.
Seriously if I had to spend a month leveling a wretched hag to play HoN I wouldn't play it. I played WoW for years and enjoyed it greatly but yea it's not the same thing.
You don't learn your class by playing it? Leveling your character does teach you what you need to pvp, knowing your character and getting used to your abilities plus UI is everything in wow pvp... Not to mention there's low lvl BG's to get used to the maps and the concepts of them.
And you really can't compare HON to Wow BG's. Haven't you noticed that HON chars only have 4 skills? Plus the loose in items but regardless. Properly pvp'ing in wow requires a MUCH better insight in your character than it does in hon, not to mention talents and roles, heck even gear. The game is not as simple as HON and as such it's only fair that you give people a chance to learn their character before getting thrown into it. As it is already you get roflstomped the first times around a BG simply because you do not know your character well enough. Now imagine figuring out rotation + all of your what, 20 abilities on the first time around. Just not possible.
What you're asking for may appeal to you specifically because you have some knowledge within the game and may be smarter than the majority of wow players. But we live in a casual world where games aren't meant to be very hard. And alot of people already find wow a bit hard to learn. You can just look at people's performance and see how badly they do, and that's after having spent like, a month on that character.
What?
The only things you learn when you level is what skills your character has. When to use them, positioning, proper cooldown management, and reacting to the enemy are things you can ONLY learn when you PvP. For all intents and purposes the first time you arena you may as well be playing for the first time. Do not pretend that leveling teaches you any more than the bare basics which you could learn in probably half the time being "thrown into the fire". You could easily learn your class at 85 through straight BG's as well and probably in a shorter amount of time. Nobody figures anything out the first time around and getting rolfstomped is a pretty normal thing when you start playing ANY game because you know nothing about it. You sure as hell don't get eased into SC2. You get thrown into it with everything at your disposal, another reason why your prior comparison with SC2 ladder makes no sense.
As for your comparison to HoN and WoW? I won't go much into it but of the two, HoN has a much steeper learning curve. To imply that it isn't as complex as WoW because of less skills (but 5x the "classes" mind you) is short sided. HoN adds last hitting, creep farming, warding, and a slew of other crap you don't get with WoW. Both are incredibly complex games at the highest level.
I just don't understand your point as it makes little logical sense. Being good at any game is HARD. I also wasn't implying that WoW should be changed. I was explaining to you why the grind in WoW is not desirable for everyone and why people would ask for something like WoW-BG without the grind beforehand. I don't care for changing WoW but a game with a WoW like BG without the grind would be nice.
I won't even touch the casual era comment because it would just make me angry.

Yeah that barely anyone plays. there's generally 0-2 conquest or ctf games (3v3-5v5 size) open looking at any time.

Exactly true. I played 2 wow characters at max level, a rogue I leveled all myself and a shaman I picked up at 70 (level cap) in TBC and learned by battlegrounding. I learned the shaman faster and got to a much higher level of play than the rogue I leveled all the way and played for years. That's because none of what I did on my rogue was valuable at all for getting good at PvP, and cause my game knowledge was better when I switched to the shaman as my main despite not leveling it. Like 5% of what you learn while you level is valuable, the rest is garbage that you might as well forget and you learn faster and better by PvP.
Then I quit because I wanted to play hunter more but the endless hours of leveling and gearing was too much and I felt like there were better things to do with my time. I got to level 60 and was like...20 more levels and 50 bajillion honor points away from having a usable character...sadface.
Pvp and making money rarely goes hand to hand. Thats why GW is the only good pvp game. There are some indie games (fallout online) that are good, but if there isn't a solid team behind it they won't last for long. RIP Shadowbane
Hah, I have similar experience with WoW when used to play. WSG 19 and maybe 29 were by and far the best parts of the game until that one patch that added XP to battlegrounds ruined everything.
I never knew Mount & Blade had a multiplayer expansion. That game was so much fun in the single player sandbox mode, and had some awesome mods as well. Will definitely give that a go.
If you liked the BG aspect of the game i recommend savage 2, its a RTS/FPS/ 3rd person shooter hybrid, with one commander for each team ( think battlefield 2 style)
its f2p, but if you pay for it you will gain more bag space and specs and stuff.
There are 2 teams, the Beast team and the human team, you could either be a dps, healer or a sieige type unit, the commander builds stuff and gives orders and buffs for your team. The goal is to destroy the enemy base.
Here is a clan game with totalbiscuit commentating!
thx to everyone who recommended Bloodline champions, downloaded it last week, played it alot this weekend with some friends! it was great time the only probleme is the lack of player, so if u guys are interested, I recommend this game!!!
