I made the trip last as long as possible, but I knew I wouldn't be gone for longer than 2/3rd that time. Anyway, since I've been gone, I had a handful of raids on me and lost all my RL's. They're starting to show Heavy Fighters, so I can't really use rocket launchers anymore, and it'll take me forever to build up enough res to make my own. I think I might have to resort to people helping me ninja their fleets soon if I want to gain any headway.

Wenly, our highest ranked player (99 out of ~7000?) has a score of 736. 4 alliances have an average score higher than 736. just some fun facts ^_^ edit: Also, we're #14 in fleet size, and #7 in research. edit2: We make up 2% of the entire server's population. One out of every 50 people is one of us. Oh boy, that image. Do I join Liquid or Portugal now?

metal = 7, crystal = 5, deuterium = 3, solar = 8. i have about 44 excess energy with all my mines on 100%... should i be having this excess or should i be pushing my mines to the limit?

Push your energy to the low negatives if it can give you a level in one of your mines. It is so very worth it. If you click resource settings, you will see a production factor next to "Recalculate." If you have something like -1 energy left behind, the percentage is going to 99%. To me, 99% isn't such a big deal early game--it doesn't matter if you make 1 less metal per week.

You want to go OVER the limit and get to negatives, before working on another solar plant. Its better to be underpowered then overpowered (no this is not a balance discussion).

1. Finding ships means you want basically 9000 expedition points. I have no idea how these are calculated, but I basically just use antigame or the expedition calculator (both should be around someone in the forums.) You can find around a maximum of 600 points in 1 expedition. You also can find ships 1 above the highest tech ship you send. As in you can find cruisers if you send HFs, battleships if you sent along cruisers etc. Tech order for expeditions is probe->small cargo->light fighter->large cargo->heavy fighter->cruiser->battleship->battlecruiser->bomber->destroyer You cannot find recyclers, colony ships or deathstars You can also find any ship equal to or lower than the ships you sent in various quantities. These quantities are not fixed. Calculator is here http://bontchev.my.contact.bg/ogame/expeditions.html 2. For finding resources, you can find a maximum to 1.8million resources 3. Dark matter is almost completely random as the amount you find doesn't appear to be correlated to ships sent at all. Also, as soon as the expedition finishes you receive the dark matter before the ships return (magical properties). 4. You can also find a merchant who only trades for 1 of your resources. To use it, go to the merchant tab and click the green trade button instead of clicking on the resource icons. And the bad results 1. Your entire expedition can be lost and never return, so be mindful of that. 2. Pirates can attack. The ships will be based on what you sent, and the number of how many attack you will vary. Their techs will be 3 lower than yours. 3. Aliens can attack as well, same as pirates but their techs are 3 higher than yours 4. Your ships can get lost taking a while to return. The amount of time they are lost depends entirely on your astrophysics level. It is NOT affected by how long you let your fleet sit in the expedition area (1 LF got lost for 26 hours on a 1 hour hold). As a side note, even when it says your ships return faster, they don't. Edit-ships DO return faster now Maximizing expeditions: First off, you almost always want to send a probe along as they will let you know the results of the expedition when it finishes, as opposed to when the expedition gets back to the planet. Heavy fighters give the most expedition points per cost. If you are looking ONLY to find ships, the best expedition to send out would be 1 capital ship (destroyer is best), 81 heavy fighters and 1 probe. For finding resources, you want to have a maximum of 1.8million resources, on top of expedition points, as it seems expedition points do affect the amount of resources you find. This makes the best overall fleet 1 destroyer 40 Heavy Fighters 96 Large Cargo 1 probe For minimizing risks, you can attempt to send out 1 capital ships with purely cargo. This way even if you run into pirates or aliens, your losses would be minimized. Expedition hold time: The expedition hold time seems to affect the amount of resources found. This is based off of personal experience, but I've noticed sending on the same fleet composition for the same hold time, I get the exact same amount of resources for finding a small asteroid each time. I've only sent out expeditions for 1 hour,9 and 10 hours so far, so this isn't definitely conclusive. I'm not entirely sure the hold time affects amount of ships found. When you send a probe along with an expedition, you usually get the final line as Entry from the communications officers logbook: It seems that this part of the universe has not been explored yet. If you see this, it means your expedition spot can still give resources/ships. Otherwise, it means the expedition spot has dried out, and you should send expeditions elsewhere for a little bit.
