me loving a part of the ending spoiler IT REALLY IS A SPOILER + Show Spoiler +I portaled to the MOON hells yeah
I dont know about you all but even thought it didnt take me like 5 days to play through i Througly enjoyed it.
Also you can just do coop with a random stranger (idiot friend bought retail) and i had a great time and even added him in steam

Single player seems pretty good so far, I'm just over 3/4's done with 5 or so hours of play time. Co-op was huge let down though. That was finished in 3-4 hours if that, without much of a story at all.
|
Finished both single and coop. I must say the game was very good, I was enjoyed the whole way through, both for single and coop.
However for me the story ending was rather disappointing, and the lack of reference to half life puts me off. Some contents in the preview trailers didn't even made it into the game either, like creating portal to suck away sentry guns using the Aperture science pipe network.
I know it's fiction, but aren't any of you surprised with size of the facility? Big underground space with moving rooms. The cost of constructing this would be astronomical, this puts Black Mesa facility into shame, even thought Black Mesa actually won Aperture over contracts, it just doesn't fit well with the lore.

This is certainly not a knock against the lore. The size of the facilities has nothing to do with why or how BM won contracts.
|
No but the idea is if BM won majority of contracts, where Aperture get the funds to build such a massive facility.

i enjoyed the game alot, roughly 12hrs to complete co-op + single player.. i do wish they had some advanced levels or extra challenges similar to portal 1 though.
|
Just finished the single player. I guess I should've paced myself and not forced myself through it in basically one sitting. The game makes me REALLY want HL3 (or episode 3, if they're still doing that) - and I want Portal 3 to tie the two franchises more together.
Now if only I had someone to play co-op with :\
|
Not buying it. $50 is not worth 6 or so hours of content (I do puzzle games fast). I beat Portal 1 in one sitting the first time in like 3 hours and loved it, but it came in the Orange Box which was 3 games (5 with HL2 and Ep. 1) for $50, and I'm not getting the same sense of value here as I'm not interested in the co-op at all.
I'll wait for the price drop or the crack, whichever comes first.

My friend bought it and completed that potato pack thing? dunno exactly what it was, important part I got portal 2 for free. After I get off work im gonna stay up till about 7am to finish the single player mode, then 20 minute power nap, wait for my friend to get home from work and we will take on the co-op. I only have the one friend but he sure is a good one

Only done chapter 1 so far, but disappointed with the graphics. It only looks a little better than Portal 1! (Running on max and 8xAA).

FYI, Portal 2 is basically running on the latest version of the Source engine, which has been in use since Half-Life 2 released back in November of 2004. There is only so much they could do to the Source engine, which had seen only lighting and shader improvements since the core engine debuted in 2004.
Nevertheless, I think the art direction makes up for the deficiencies in the old engine. The environments seem more varied and lively compared to those of Portal 1, and the fluid physics are really cool to look at.
Anyways, + Show Spoiler +when I portaled to the moon, I expected to see the garden gnome that I had messed around with for that Half Life 2: Episode 2 achievement. It's a shame that he didn't show up.
|
it got pretty exciting towards the end. i love the ending song, though i wonder what portal 3 would be like with that ending or if there's gonna be a portal 3.
did anyone see a guy running in one of the stages? it was a fast glimpse. not sure who it was.

+ Show Spoiler +Edit: Maybe you're talking about the part after it, when you already have the potato. :| In that case, use the orange goo to gain momentum and jump thru portals (There's an angled wall that you can place a portal, then place the other side of the portal where the goo is)

Only 1 puzzle had me think for more then 5 seconds which is seriously disappointing. Nice new effects but not worth a full game price tbh. Would never replay it, hope advanced chambers and extra lvls come out for 'free'
End song was meh also.
Worth playing? Yes definately but borrow a friends steam account as you'll complete it in a day, 2 max.

+ Show Spoiler +On that mission where you have to fling yourself into a gravity stream way far away? I'm pretty sure that was one of the co-op bots, they get mentioned pretty soon afterward.

Amazing game. Only complaint I have is that I wish that it was longer )=
+ Show Spoiler +I was stuck on chapter 8 for the longest time because of this level ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/X2lKL.jpg)
