Finished it in 4 hours. Let's see what else is here, try some of the challenge chambers maybe (remember those, from portal 1?). Guess what, they removed them. They didn't even bother copying the actual chambers from the game and adding a timer/step counter/portal counter to them. So I check co-op, and the first thing that catches my eye is robot enhancement. It has a god damn store. You can buy stupid looking hats for your fucking portal character, for dollars. I haven't actually played through co-op yet because I'm waiting for a friend, but as far as single player goes: Narrative/writing/story 10/10 Amount of content: -10,000/10. Would have been 0/10, but they removed a feature from the previous portal so fuck them. "You buy the product, you get the content ... We make more money because more people buy it, not because we try and nickel-and-dime the same customers." - Robin Walker, Valve Software, 2007. Whelp, guess not.

They focused alot of time into the coop, you need to factor that in before you accuse the game of having zero content. I agree with you on the micro-purchase bologna, however.

Yeah watch me buy the challenge chambers for $1,99 a piece while I unlock the map editor and ability to play custom maps for $19,99. I might as well ship my credit card directly to Gabe's fat ass, which by the way is so fat that it has three addresses of its own, because for every hat you buy gabe buys another burger. Cosmetics as micro-transactions doesn't bother me because guess what, I bought portal to play portal, not to wear hats! So if its not affecting my game-play others can feel free to purchase away.

Why do you care about robot enhancement? I know I for one think it's just brilliant by Valve. Some people will spend the money on stupid hats. I for one won't. But it doesn't affect gameplay in the slightest, so why do you give a crap? Also, you haven't played coop yet, and I highly doubt you beat it in 4 hours.......

My first run through the single player took me about eight hours. Partly because I took my time to explore everything, finding easter eggs, and enjoying the dialogue. And partly because that’s just how long it is. I’ve replayed a bunch of it this morning, from about 8am to 12pm, and knowing what to do and ploughing through it as fast as possible, skipping past all the longer conversations wherever possible, I hadn’t reached the end of the second act in the four hours. So, including the co-op content, I was not even halfway through the game. People claiming to have completed it in four hours are either some sort of speed-gaming geniuses, or lying. --- Personally i finished it in 11 hours (w/o co-op), i dont know if the time ticks when paused because i went afk for about an hour combined. But yea i can't see how you could have finished it in 4 hours and still enjoyed it... if you did it in 4 hours... i think you ruined yourself an experience of a quality 1st time play through, and it's a one time experience so you cant fix it now, good job. The only thing i would be dissapointed about is that 24 hours after a release, there is a fully working crack, which even allows you to co-op with your friends.

I just finished the single player in about 5 hours (with a fair amount of afk time) so I wouldn't put it past someone to be able to finish the game in 4 hours. That said, I did take my time to enjoy the game. The environments, the dialogue, everything was spot on. They took everything that I loved about the first game and kicked it up a notch. I'm waiting on my friend to pick up the game, so I haven't had a chance to go through co-op. I do however wish that they would have also included advanced chambers though. That's probably my only complaint about the game. Other than that, it's worth every penny spent. Regarding the complaints about the store... Uhhh... Don't buy the hats/skins/whatever? They don't affect the gameplay at all, and you're not forced to buy them. I don't see the problem here.

I'm sorry, but it's completely unrealistic to expect the same ratio of hours of entertainment to dollars that you saw in the 90's and early 00's. Games are more expensive to make, and when you have to pay for things like great voice actors, great writing, and modern graphics, you have to cut gameplay time. Game companies need to make profits, and if you don't like it, stop buying games. Also, I've never understood bitching about things like the item stores in TF2 or now in Portal 2. If you don't want to pay for a silly hat for your character, don't, it's just that simple.

Sure, it isn't 15+ hours long, but my first playthough of the Single Player took ~5:30hrs. Pretty much every minute of that was pure enjoyment. There's no filler, very little tedium, the dialogue is all great and for what is at its core a puzzle game - you get a lot of bang for your buck. You cannot measure a game on time played alone. It's like in the early 90s when everyone reviewed games purely on graphics. Valve selling cosmetic items for money doesn't bother me. If they release challenge packs and such and charge for those, it'd likely depend on the price, but I have doubts they'll charge much if at all for them. It's funny, solid difficulty curve, the puzzles are satisfying, interesting plot. If you like Portal then it's worth the money. The co-op I'm yet to sink into (my friend wants to finish single player themselves first) but I've heard nothing but good about it - and that its another 5-ish hours long. Focus on value, not on time alone, otherwise J-RPGs would be the best games in the world. This isn't like modern shooters focused on multiplayer with 3hr solo campaigns that are bland. Its some amazing, creative fun that feels rewarding.

All in all, I just loved it. Both modes are so much fun, my throat hurt from laughing in coop ![]() If you loved portal 1, this is a must pickup. Great content, great story, great graphics, all in all a close to perfect game in my eyes.
