If I were them, I would just farm mats and mass craft for the best unique variants

Also included: Items * The Dread Skelly Mask and Suit now correctly require the Sinister Skelly Suit as a prerequisite. * Fixed a couple missing recipe name translations, and added descriptions for a number of bombs and handguns. * Removed Health/Remedy Capsules from subtown vendors. * Added Vitapods to subtown vendors. Monsters * Lumbers' attack speed has been decreased. * Lumbers' damage area has been decreased. * Jelly cubes' attack speed has been decreased slightly. * Jelly cubes are slightly more aggressive in Tier 1. * Lichens have had their windup time doubled. * Trojans now wander about when they have no target. * Vanaduke has regained his ability to cast fire snakes. * Royal Jelly's tantrums are now slightly less violent. UI * The progress tab in the character panel has been updated to offer more clarity. Servers just GG'd again?

I haven't followed the game more than a couple of days, and I could not find the information in the official forums.

I read about the energy thing but I still don't get it. Why would you buy that? And what exact disadvantage would you have if you don't?

1st tier dungeons include floors 1-8 which takes ~60 energy and can be handled with starting gear. You gain around 2500 crowns (in-game currency) for a full 1st tier clear whether you're solo or grouped (it's much safer to group up when you first start out). When the game first launched a week ago 100 energy cost around 2000 crowns. 100 energy currently costs around 3300 crowns. The price for energy will continue to rise as players progress through the game, with an expected final value of up to 10,000 crowns, based on the beta. This is not currency inflation but simply an increase in how energy is valued based on the returns from a typical player's dungeon run. The expectation then is for new players entering the game at a later date (say, 2 months from now) to be unable to turn a profit from trading crowns for energy. Low end equipment costs will rise as well due to the significant energy component in crafting. In fact, energy costs will rise so much that the vendor prices (7.5k for 2 star equipment; 0 and 1 star equipment should be skipped) will start to become attractive. This leads to a mandatory start up cost (say, $10 USD for 3500 energy) for new players if they want reasonably fast progression through the early part of the game after the energy market stabilizes. But if you get in now and spend energy wisely (not likely for brand new players, of course) you don't need to spend any money. There were 2 tutorial videos posted in the new player forums which show roughly the first hour of gameplay, linked below. + Show Spoiler + + Show Spoiler +
