If you want 4x, you could try Sword of the Stars 1 (not 2, that is apparently still extremely buggy), Distant Worlds, Stardrive, Sins of a Solar Empire, GalCiv 2.
AI War is also really good, but i have no idea how to classify that one. Probably simply RTS. Thank you! Do you also have any suggestions for other type of games (not only strategic ones)? Sure, but it would be helpful if you give me some restrictions/preferences, otherwise the list can become pretty long. Also, keep in mind that these are just games that i enjoy, but i assume you are basically just fishing for names that you can look into, so that shouldn't be a problem. Ok! I tend to like all type of games (except for sports, maybe). I like strategy/rpg/action/fps. I don't like simulation like The Sims. I recently bought Deus Ex: HR and finished it, it wasn't that bad, but not that good either to me. Some games that I already played/owned that I loved: Just Cause 2, Dead Space, all total war games, Diablo 3... At this moment in my life, I would kill to play Rome: total war 2 or GTA 5 for pc
I guess i will restrict myself to new-ish titles.
If you like open world stuff, you might want to look into Sleeping Dogs or Saints Row 3. I haven't played them, but most people think they are good.
As for RPGs, Witcher and Witcher 2 are really good, kind of linear but with meaningful choices and amazing storytelling. Dark Souls is just great if you like a fair difficult brawler/rpg thingy. Arkham Asylum/City are also pretty good. You should have a controller for most of those. Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas are all open world RPGs.
Smaller/lower fidelity indie RPGs: Anything from Spiderweb, anything from Zeboyd, both companies who have a very specific style, and i enjoyed there games a lot.
If you have some friends who would play with you, you might want to look into Terraria (2d crafting RPG-ish exploration thing), Magicka (cool magic system, friendly fire, blowing up your friends "by accident" is a lot of fun), Killing Floor (Zombie Survival Shooter), Borderlands (2)(Shooter in a crazy redneck world where everyone is insane)
If you want competitive multiplayer, you could look into LoL or Dota2 (Both free to play dota things), Chivalry (Medieval first person Melee battle game) Natural Selection 2.

I'm not even a huge fan of the platformer genre, but Trine has just the right amount of combat, puzzle-solving, and platforming to make it interesting for me. I loved both of them. Play Trine 1 first if you want to play both of them. Trine 2 improves on everything Trine 1 did right, so going back and playing Trine 1 second might be a little disappointing.

Wait, I only remember SSF4AE go on sale once and I think it was on the community choice section. I thought it would go on sale later, but I guess I was wrong and I regret not buying it now...

Can anyone give me information on Ys? Are the games good? Which one of them is the best to start with if they are?

I was pretty disappointed with Ys 1 and 2 because the combat worked differently than I expected. I know some fans of Ys: Oath to Felgana though.
|
I liked Ys: Ark of Napishtim and Ys: Oath to Felgana. Never had time to finish #2. They're not bad, just generic hack'n'slash with okay stories.

I played Ark a while back and enjoyed it, purchased Oath on sale this week, played it a decent amount already. As long as you're okay with a (sometimes frustrating) challenge, it's quite fun.

Origin is the best game to start with, and Oath of Felghana would be the followup if you liked Origin. Ys I and II are pretty archaic titles that I'd only recommend for fans of the series.

Not sure what thread people are using for coupons but I have a 50% off Limbo that expires on the 31st. First person to PM me with their Steam ID gets it.

Is there some place to trade steam discounts for cards or something?

Ys Origins is pure horror. Why would you put a 30 minute unskippable cutscene at the start of your game? AND then not exactly tell people how to save a game, and not put an autosave afterwards?
So i started that game, on Nightmare. Went until i got to the second statue, activated it (assumed that that would save the game), and exited the game and did other stuff. Start the game again lateron, no savegame there. Have to watch the whole fucking 30 minutes of unskippable bullshit at the start again, which was already getting old pretty fast. Played a bit afterwards, until i reached the first Boss. Noticed that he is pretty hard. Wanted to play one difficulty easier. HAVE TO WATCH THE WHOLE 30 MINUTES OF SHIT AGAIN. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WOULD ANYONE EVER DO THAT?

Sounds like the joke is on you for sitting through it two additional times instead of finding a way to disable it - probably a simple .ini tweak. All other aspects of the game disregarded, I can't see why this particular experience would qualify it as "pure horror," although I agree that it is sub-optimal design.

I got a spare Civ V key, anyone to trade it for Shadowrun?
|
I've got a 66% off Awesomenauts coupon. Would trade it for like...DotA commons or something. Maybe steam cards if you want to give something worth a few cents .
|
I have the next coupons: 50% Strike Suit Infinity 50% Killing Floor 90% Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter 50% Triple Town 75% Serious Sam 2
I can trade them for steam cards.
