The Witcher 2 will, judging from the trailors etc, not be different, so I'll pass. Getting past the 2 hour marker in the first game was hard enough. Never made it past 3.
I thought the voice acting was fine. Not great compared to the rest of the game maybe. Witcher is the best single player I've played along with hl2.
I hope witcher 2 is going to be good too, but I've heard rumors that it's shorter than the first one=/

i didnt get past 2 hours on the first witcher too and thats a first for me on a rpg(and i played LOOOTS of rpgs). but for me the main turnoff was the horrible combat and controls but ofc the cheesy style and bad execution on dialogues and characters didnt exactly make me want to continue either.
but witcher 2 looks promising and there is lotsa potential.
would def check it out if i were you. its quite easy to really judge a game today with tons of reviews, discussions, gameplay footage etc.

It's way too short and lacking in content. It doesn't have a deep story or anything like that. It's a puzzle game with humorous writing, which isn't unique at all. Its saving grace is the portal gun and the clever puzzles. But I wouldn't call Portal 2 goty material compared to the Witcher 2 or Skyrim. I think those games are gonna blow it away.

Hopefully this one has fully integrated hat tech because I can't stand Geralt's character model and long to cover that shit up with some sort of helm.

I remember the first time I played it I didn't get past the tutorial haha. I was like wtf is all this alchemy and why do I have to click when its yellow, seemed stupid and didn't play it for a month. Then for some reason I picked it up again and started playing and couldn't put it down.

There was two versions of The Witcher 1 remember. The first, original version really did have terrible voice acting, due to the devs getting some really sub par actors in. They then redid almost the entire game worth of voice acting, and re-released it, free to anyone who had already bought it. The voice acting for that version was pretty good, so I wouldn't worry about the acting in the second, they are unlikely to make the same mistake twice.

Ahh that makes alot of sense. I didnt know they redid the voices. I only played the enhanced version so i was really confused that people were saying the voice acting was terrible, which i remember as being perfectly fine.

And the EE version was free for every owner of the original game. I really missed a caring developer like CDP Red on the market. They treat their customers like pure gold.

Oh, I didn't realize they had redone the voice acting in the enhanced version, either. I always wondered why people complained about the bad voice acting in the game, when I personally thought it was really good.

I am pretty sure that The Witcher 2 is going to be the one of the best games ever made for PC. I am soooooo excited. I can't even wait!
And I think I heard somewhere that they will release some sort of a save game generator. For the ones that didn't play the first game or lost their saved games.

dont get too hyped guys, you're spending too much time over thinking what you'll be able to do... i can see a lot of people being disappointed because of it.
it will be great though!

Did you play the polish version to comment on the voice acting? Because unless you did, I don't see how it's any fault of the developers.
The witcher is a game that kinda grows on you once you beat it. It may seem tedious at times, like when you get owned by a boss or when you have to kill a bunch of monsters for a quest for money, but once you beat the game and look back, it makes you go "Huh, that was a pretty fun experience".
I hope they have much less grinding and monster re-spawning though. That shit was annoying. I must have killed several hundred of those water undead guys in the swamps.

In addition to not having any DRM, latest news about The Witcher 2 say that any DLC will be FREE!
I find that extremely awesome and I currently hate myself for being broke and not being able to pre-order this game. I want to support this kind of developers so bad.

As far as respawn goes - it's a major part of some quests. Throughout the game, you'll gain information on how to deal with certain creatures and once you know enough and piece everything together, you'll be able to destroy the nest and eliminate the respawn of a certain monster type completely. There won't be an arrow on the map pointing to an area labeled "the nest", you'll have to think and work your way there.

so I jsut finished The Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 is preordered and will be here on release day. I say my body is ready for more awesomeness
what I thought was funny is that again the endboss was easier then the boss before him. Seems to be something I encounter in many games

I am sooo pumped for this. But I'll have to wait until holidays, buy and finish Witcher 1 first and earn some money for a new machine... Can't wait till july
