I believe you can install it on as many computers you want since there is no DRM on the GOG version.

Anyone know how the speeds are on the GoG servers? For instance, I know a lot of games from Steam take a helluva long time to dl on release or during the Steam sales. Is GoG like this as well or should there be no problems?
|
There was some issues with GoG Downloader but they said they were going to fix it.
|
you dont need to use the GoG downloader though, can just save them through your browser
|
I got speeds of around 1/ 1.5 mp per second, was pretty speedy for me

i really hate the fact, that there are almost no reviews out yet. tomorrow the -10% price on steam will be gone, but today i cant be sure, if the game kicks ass.

Also if you are from Europe you get 16$ worth of games (2 games) for free if you buy it there, just for being handsome.
And yes, if you buy this from gog.com you get enough karma points to get the next mass effect and dragon age from the yarr-sites without becoming chaotic evil. If D2D didn't offer it for $12 off ($33 instead of $45) then I would have in a heart beat. But since D2D isn't anymore, I'll gladly second this - right now (and hopefully for a long time to come) they know how to cater and treat their customer base. Even if some other sight is offering it for 95% off you should still buy it from GoG, CDP does ALOT for us, doesn't really hurt us to sink an extra $10 into them... It matters when you lose your job (in a certain depression, as I did) and have few luxuries, like extra cash ;} Not that I mean to give you a sob story, but the $12 is a considerable difference to my situation. Trust me, I would have liked to have avoided the DRM. One would imagine that you'd not want to spend any money if you've lost your job and funnel it towards finding another job?
If you want to quibble over my financial decisions, shoot me off a PM. I won't be wrecking this thread with such nonsense...

Sendit just sended my DLC code, wow, I'm so excited.

God I ordered through Steam way back last year, and now I want to cancel it so I can preload with GoG but Steam support won't get back to me. I guess they figure if they are overworked for a day then I can't get a refund for a pre-order as it will be released by then ...

You can do the same with steam, most of the time, you just can't play on as many computers as you want simultaneously. Dunno if my steam version is going to have some evil DRM of doom I won't like, but the worst they could do is something like Assassins creed, and I doubt they would go that far. (Where you need internet to log in, but also to have it be constantly running and stable)
Can't wait to check it out after "work" .

I believe they've already said there won't be a persistent-internet connection based DRM.

There's a one-time internet activation and that's all the DRM they said they're having.
Game comes out tomorrow, eee I'm excited. I beat the first game again in anticipation.

most certainly. probably not max details, but the game still looks REALLY pretty on mid and even on low graphics settings.
this is a german preview of the game, you dont need to read any text but you can look at the screenshots on the page:
http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings/artikel/the_witcher_2_assassins_of_kings,44750,2322215.html
above the screenshots there are links which change the graphics settings shown in the screenshot. the one to the far right is low settings, to the left is max settings. As you can see it still looks pretty good even on min settings.
