Battles aren't supposed to be clean. the battlefield series has always been about chaos and learning how to cope with it in the best way.
Its just not battlefield if its not 64 players, its bad company.

Well the server is locked in and waiting idly for beta to launch, set at 64.
Simply put, if you like 64, which truthfully IMO is the "battlefield" spirit, then there's a US server. Tort's server will be a bit smaller, but is probably ideal if your pc can't handle 64 anyway, aside from gameplay.
So pick your flavor, no point in debating it, you have access to both, and many many more.
Remember in beta, the limited map choice (a city map) might force us to go 32 player (rumor) temporarily. If someone could check me on this, thanks.
List of things I need to know:
-is there a hardcore setting, would we want it? -we know the full game will support 64, will beta? -does beta have access to vehicles of any type? -what admin system does the game use? Rcon? -will you be able to choose servers in another country to join? Aka by IP? -will beta support stat tracking of any type?
I can spend time looking all of these up, but figure some of you guys keep closer track of the game than me.

If one day they make it so we can have 128 players in BF3 that would be freaking sick! Like a few new insanely huge maps in a DLC or something. Oh and awesome to hear your putting up a server too irninja, 64 sounds perfect to me! :D edit-Oh and btw I'm going to be in beta as well since the download for it will only be 2-3gb according to BF3 Blog, I was assuming it would be like 6 or 7 which would take me almost an entire day of downloading. So excited!

Ok did some research. Beta only offers a rush map, which is capped at 32 players. Upon launch the server will kick up to 64 and run the epic conquest maps.
Also beta does not track stats, but it does mark your soldier in the database with your name, so you can reserve it before launch.
More info coming soon.

Who the hell would take the name Torte de Lini?
|
I think your safe on that dude, I can't imagine anyone else nabbing that name. I also chose a strange name a long time ago to keep that from happening, I hate it in games though when someones on the mic like CS or BF2 and there like: "Hey Red Lake, blah blah blah". lol

I'm gonna pick it just to annoy you. As long as you are planning on picking it.
Btw, if you are planning to get a server, 64 players please. Fuck 32 player shit.

If there is a HC mode like the BC's then I vote we don't play with it.

it depends how HC and SC are like. SC in bad company 2 was terrible because you could take a full clip of damage. no penalties for getting greedy and trying to make a run for it. It was frustrating as an attacker too since you needed so many bullets to kill someone. HC in bc2 was faster while rewarding cautious behavior when moving from Pt A to B. Not to mention the stupid spotting nonsense (but thats fixed with BF3)
i dont think anyone can compare HC vs SC in BF3 at the moment, have to wait and see

The damage itself isn't that different, ARs in the alpha killed in 5-7 shots which is pretty much the same as vanilla BC2. Guns definitely felt more deadly, probably because BF3 weapons have less spread

You claim it's fixed, but when I was in the alpha, that was one of the biggest issues. We were told it was one of the things they were addressing, but I hadn't heard anything new about it. Is there statements regarding this feature, and proof that it has been 'fixed'? It literally broke the game in the alpha. You just had to look at a horizon line and spam Q and you'd light up several targets.

Yes there was a statement on them fixing it so you can't just shoot them. I believe once the person who gets spotted gets in covor the dot goes away so you can't just shoot randomly at him and kill him. Can't remember the fix but it was a good fix they said.

Man 128 players on one map? You might as well turn Battlefield into an MMO. You already have so much to do with just 64 players on the map. I'm not saying 128 players wouldn't be awesome, it's just where do you draw the line between more players being more fun to just being a nuisance?

The marker goes away if the person goes LOS unless its a vehicle
it also is removed if its behind smoke
both good imo ^>^

Its not like people have to play on it lol. I just love big battlefield type games 64 is amazing (especially since no other shooters do it to my knowledge). But I was saying 128 would be even more epic ^_^. As long as the map fits it of course I don't want it all on some small ass map lol :D.
